- Carbs retain water at a ratio of approximately 1:3 or 1:4 meaning 1 gram of carbs eaten retains 3-4 grams of water. This quickly turns into 1lbs or more of water weight. Eating LOTS of carbs? You can expect to hold onto a lot of water. No one likes to feel bloated, but there’s no need to panic about water weight, you lose it as quickly as you gain it.

It's that rice after 5 pm. So I avoid eating any kind of carbs after 5. I do it a lot earlier than 6 because it just works for me. If I am still up beyond 9. I snack on a fruit or cucumbers if I feel hungry
As a long distance runner, I have to carb load before races and water retention sucks but it shows that the fueling works.
It’s also kinda funny to watch your body change from keeping the water before and after the race (because soreness/inflammation in the muscles cause water retention too) and then after 1-2 weeks you’re looking leaner than ever. lol
Ok, what’s your take on Asians that consume allot of rice daily as a main diet staple, but stay slim and fit ?
They eat like 1/4 cup or less lmao
@@YOGABODY.Official they also get tons of iodine so very few have metabolic issues or low thyroid and they walk A LOT
@@YOGABODY.Official thanks you, but let’s just admit it’s a conundrum it’s a mystery. What makes us fat keeps them skinny.
Sugar is the main culprit not rice.. Western diet is loaded with proccessed sugar..
@@soothingmoments2139 rice turns directly to sugar in the body.
That explains why as a distance runner eating 600g of carbs a day, I'm heavier after meals :/
So true
100g of bread isnt 100g of carbs and hence won't retain 400g of water. Bread is about 50% of its weight in carbs.
Bread varies in carb content massively. Some bread is fluffy nothingness other breads are dense bricks. It's just a talking point.
@@YOGABODY.Official Even white bread with no fibre is only 50% carbs. People will learn from this video to measure the carb dense food and think "oh that's how many carbs there are"
Really, there is too much claims about food. Not true on the most part. I’ve eaten rice and bread etc all my life and I’m not fat fat
You missed the video, it’s about water retention
It’s not the carbs it’s the processing of the food additives and chemicals … I get bloated every time and it’s not always from carbs bc I don’t eat much carbs sometimes… other times I’ll have tons of carbs but it’ll be home cooked and I’m fine. My body NEEDS carbs it’s my fuel. Carbs aren’t bad.
