    Always enjoy your videos. I have always been a humbucker guy, To much Slash (November Rain) as a teenager. We need more humbuckers in Worship. Recently purchased a stomp and your videos have been a huge help in giving me ideas of how to get the most out of it. Looking forward to your upcoming videos.

    As the worship director and rhythm guitarist at the church I call home, I've found Reverend to be the best electrics to play from! I dial in my patches on my Stomp so that I can use the bass contour knob as a auxiliary gain stage. No more needing to tap dance, or even have my pedalboard in front me, to get more grit. Just roll up the bass and it gives you more gain in the best way. It enables me to think more about leading and singing than which foot switch to hit. The bass contour knob is genius! I currently have three Reverend's....don't sleep on em folks! Great vid, by the way. Your production quality is on point 👍🏼.

      Thank you so much for the encouragement! I know...I'm not starting to utilize the bass contour knob more...dialing it in the sweet spot, instead of off and on...such a good tool to have

    Lovely guitar. Be interesting to hear from u once you’ve had a chance to use in church. I used to play humbuckers but got a tele a few years ago and haven’t put it down. Thanks for the updated presets too!

    I noticed you use an SL2, I own that same camera and I’m wanting to make tutorials for our team but I can’t get video to look as good as yours. I would love to see a video on you camera set up, lenses you love, editing tips. Just a thought!

      Wow! Thanks for the encouragement. As far as the camera...I invest in the Sigma 18-35 1.8 zoom lens. This things is awesome,...there's no image stabilization...but I have some tricks for that as far as getting smooth b-roll. I also have a 50mm 1.8 that I could use...but honestly I never take off that sigma. What lens are you working with?

  • @zjshafe
    @zjshafe Před 3 lety +1

    I play a tele, but have a 4-way switch that runs the pickups in series which acts like a humbucker. Adds a new tone to the already versatile tele.

    Working with both single coil and Humbuckers I tend to just higher the tone knob on most analog pedals on a Humbucker until I hit the sweet spot. With the helix you have so much parameters to work with. I dig it tho.

  • @zwing99
    @zwing99 Před 3 lety +1

    Keep that contour knob up. It is tempting to dial it all out but it is can make your lead lines sing on the neck pickup to have that dark humbucker sound. All that said love your channel. Props on the new gear day and for budgeting for it and encouraging folks to budget.

    • @HeyWorshipLeader
      @HeyWorshipLeader  Před 3 lety

      Thanks man! Yeah...since then I've been experimenting more with it. Trying to dial in a sweet spot rather than just taking it all the way out. I get to play live this weekend...so we'll see how it goes!

  • @jburdsinfuse
    @jburdsinfuse Před 3 lety +4

    I’m a Strat guy (SSS). I still use analog pedals and a tube amp, and the single coils love the effects chain. Humbuckers always sound awesome at home, but the single coils just shine in a mix (at church anyway 😉).

    Nice guitar, Reverend are great! If you have been a stele player your whole life you are accustomed to the very bright sound a tele gives. Don’t be afraid to embrace the low end a bit more on a humbucker equipped guitar. Key is to dial in more of the low mids without the deep lows. That way you get power without muddy ness. Great for solos or fat rhythm parts.

    • @HeyWorshipLeader

      That's actually my preference and do it often...but our worship ministry is short on acoustic players...so I've been playing acoustic more often recently.

    This vid highlights a dilemma I face. I have no effects loop connected. Not many, but several of your presets have an effects loop block. How do I deal with that while I have nothing plugged into my loop. By default the loop just seems to stop all sound. Do you recommend I just plug a cord between my send a return? Or is there some global setting I can use to bypass the effects loop? Some presets are totally silent due to this; while the HWL H MATCHTICK has sounds for snap 1; but is silent for 2 and 3... Advice?

    • @HeyWorshipLeader

    Reverend guitars make some of the best guitars money can buy at a fair price. Made in South Korea with South Korean top shelf electronics spec'd by Reverend are second to none. Their jet stream guitars equipped with the retro blast pickups are phenomenal for worship. They are bright enough to cut through, can be thinned even further to get single coil type sounds while at the same time easily being able to do the big power cords without noise. My issue is they're addictive, once you play one, you ultimately will want to have a second one... If you don't have thousands and thousands of dollars to get a boutique guitar, this is the working man's powerhouse. Each guitar is Mark's behind the headstock by the person who set it up here in America before it shipped out.

    I subscribed to you! I have an HSH guitar with low power humbuckers that have bright highs and sound as close to a single coil as possible. I put the Lace sensor Gold single in the middle position. I thought for a long time whether it was worth adding another single coil in the neck, but now I realized that you can play with a humbucker. I lowered the sensor itself in the neck down a little, and raised the magnets higher and the tone became even more transparent and I like it. I’m thinking of buying your presset, but something scares me because of the large number of sounds and that I’ll get lost-) Greetings from Ukraine.

      @@HeyWorshipLeader Wow cool! What is the difference between them? Just different amps or different sets of sounds? Somewhere you have a video of what the presets from this set sound like. Thank you.

  • @ptortland
    @ptortland Před rokem

    Unless money is really a factor, why limit yourself to just one style of guitar? There are some songs that just scream out for a Telecaster, others for a Strat, others for a guitar with humbuckers or Filtertrons. I make separate presets for each of my guitars so I don’t have to worry about tweaking each preset based on what guitar I’m playing.
    Having said that, if I had to choose just ONE guitar for P&W, it would be a Tele with standard pickups. It’s such a versatile guitar.

    I'm not sure if Reverend pickups use 2 or 4 conductor wiring, but if they use 4 and you're not afraid to do a bit of surgery, you can make those humbuckers feel much more like single coils if you wire them in parallel instead of series. I did it to my Les Paul copy and will never go back
