I long ago eliminated my lawn to create a cottage garden. It always seemed a waste of time to fertilize & water a lawn to make it grow, then have to mow it. I like flowers better. But when I did have a lawn I had a mower with a cord like yours. I ran over it a couple of times at first until I got the system just right. For a detail oriented German guy like you, I'm sure you have the method worked out perfectly. Keep your trusty corded mower. Never mind the battery powered frippery. Bathroom is getting there. Your brothers van looks great. Enjoy visiting with your guest.

I imagine CZcams is suddenly far more relevant to your life than you expected it to become. So, how do you like it? Are you getting recognized in public? England is densely populated too, but the sound of petrol lawnmowers is part of the summer, like warm days, birdsong and flowers. I suppose we are just used to it :)
As a kid I also enjoyed the sound (on Saturdays). But nowadays lawnmowers sound different. And it doesn't stop there. Hedge trimmer, scarifier, edge trimmer, Kärcher and for sure Leaf blower .... powerful and noisy. In general lots of noises join us in our day, especially in big cities. So *one day* of quietness is a relief and a treat.

I want to build out a step van to use as my home after I retire in two years. I’ve been trying to visualize the interior, so seeing your brother’s van was a treat! The bathroom is really coming along! PS: I don’t know if it would help, but I always rake leaves onto a tarp, which I can then drag to wherever I plan to dump them. This works really well.

Love your brothers van conversion. I follow some vanlifers despite never wanting to live in a van myself. Eamon & Bec, Van wives, Max & Occy and a few others. Ironically the first two have been converting cabins in the woods to have a home base for when they aren't travelling the world. Perhaps your brother might like to check their channels out if he's not already following them.

To answer your question, he insulates the walls when he redoes the outside facade with rigid foam if I recall.
