Prince Charles and Prince Andrew weren't there for their wives. Princess Margaret had to walk away from Peter Townsend. Prince Harry is doing the right thing by defending his wife AND standing by her side.
Their decision to leave seems understandable and best for them, but they should also live off their own funds.

I can’t say Harry is doing the right thing, only time will tell, as with any marriage. But I can tell you from all that I have read, no matter your color, this family (the bloodline) will leave you to fend for yourself and not blink an eye. Who is even to say they aren’t being forced out and this is the story WE are being told?! I’m absolutely sure that stranger things have happened within that firm.

Thank you Sunny, as a black british taxpayer the level of delusion from british commentators and some members of the public that they haven't been racist because they've not used the N word, whilst suddenly getting words like uppity into their vocabulary, and piling on the pressure during her pregnancy when decency prevents them doing it to a white woman has been sickening.
I won't deny race is a component but the criticism leveled at her wasn't fully unfair. She IS uppity. I remember Kate getting the sane level of media and public scrutiny in the early days. It died down when she toned down and became more professional in her public appearances. Meghan could have followed the same path but she wanted a lavish tax payer funded lifestyle without having to sacrifice any comforts.
Uppity in the UK is nothing to do with race. There is a Mr Men character called Mr Uppity.
The perspective that no American seems to address is the fact that the Sussex's lifestyle is paid for by the british taxpayer. The British public are thus entitled to a return. How can you abandon your duties and responsibilities to the public but still expect to benefit from the lifestyle they pay for for half of the year? This is very self centered.

She wears a one shoulder dress, she is called vulgar, Catherine wore a one shoulder dress few months after, she was praised. They went on leave, they hound them down in Canada. They went after her relentlessly when she was pregnant, that it was as if they wanted her to have a miscarriage and loose her baby.
Now they called their 8 month old child who is crawling, not yet talking a brat, depicted him as a chimpanzee at 2days old. Enough is enough.

The issue is that they let the UK taxpayers pay for their wedding, their home and their security for years before deciding this. All of these panelists are talking about the family as if they are a normal family. Normal families don't live in palaces, get millions in free money from the state and have multi million pound renovations on their home completed for free. There is a deal when it comes to Royalty and the British public expects you to respect them back. By telling the press of their plans before the Queen just throws that respect out of the window. Take their titles away now and let them be. No security, no salary and no residence in the UK. Why should we pay for royals that only take and want to give nothing back in return? I am no fan of royalty but the Queen understands and respects the British people and her privelege.

I haven't followed this closely, but from what I have seen Meghan was criticized for anything and everything. The press and some members of the public just picked and picked and picked at her. She could do nothing right for them. It's no wonder she wants to leave. Harry is probably just as sick of seeing his wife constantly hounded, and remembering the effect on his mother, that's probably one reason he also wants to "step back." I think they were pushed until they just decided they had enough.
I’m British and one of the many problems with this is who will be funding their essentially private citizen lifestyle. By them dropping their HR title they are no longer doing Royal duty therefore should the British people pay for their accommodation, transport, cost of living in general now for 2 COUNTRIES. Not only that the 24 Million that it cost for just their accommodation in England would only be used for half a year and remain empty for 6 months but would still be continue to cost money for it to be kept.

I was reading some of the articles in the British press and it was soo disappointing. They were actually saying stuff like "Megan ruined the fun party royal that Harry was. We miss that guy" When he was that "fun, party royal" they constantly wrote headlines like "Harry embarrasses the royal family again." Now all of a sudden they LIKE that guy. He had quieted down years before he met Megan, but the British tabloids conveniently forgot that.
I've been reading non-stop comments from British people saying they want Megan and Harry to leave Briton because of how much they hate the couple. Now that they are actually doing it, they are even more upset. I'm glad they are getting out. He's not even going to be king anyway so I have no idea what people are so up in arm about? Don't even THINK about coming at me about taxpayers because they also said they will become financially independent.

Once he did that, it forced Harry and Meghan to confirm the story. The courtiers through the BBC stated the lie about the Queen not knowing. Keir Simmons international reporter for NBC reported on the story starting from the leak. .The palace know that the British people still love Diana and Harry is 2nd to the Queen. The palace do not want the people turning on Charles or the Queen as they did when Diana died. So they blame Meghan for The decision that they made. Check the report of keir Simmons.

Members of royal families receive money for the duties they perform, payed for by the taxpayers. So if they step back from some or all of those duties, they will lose some or all of that income. No, they won’t be poor, but Harry has been a Prince his entire life, so making do with less will probably be an adjustment.

And i also agree with Abby when she pointed out that The Crown depicts the lives of the royals as miserable and restricted, whether it's accurate or not is up to debate. I do believe Harry has been wanting to leave even before he met Meghan and now that his life is moving to a new chapter it made sense that he feels this is the right time to do to protect his new family. I hate that they are pinning this down to Meghan as if it is all her fault and her idea. I think it is at most a mutual decision between the two. The public outcry that their tax money is going to harry and meghan doing this and that and the moment they decide they want independence, they outcry about it.
To think of this as a scandal is overexaggerating. The royals have much worst scandals in recent years and that includes the dirtiness of Prince Andrew and his pedo bff. I hate that the royals still think their farts dont smell even though they have created the plague of the scandals on the royal family for years and none of it was caused by Meghan.
Dreamer most british people are happy for them to leave if that is what they want. The issue is that they still want to keep their titles whilst stepping back from duties, when titles are given in expectation of serving the crown and country, they want to monetize them in whichever way they wish, they want to keep 95% of their current funding that they receive from prince Charles, they want the taxpayer to continue to pay for the their security, travel, they want to keep frogmore cottage which belongs to the crown estates and this is unacceptable to the taxpayer when we have homeless people sleeping on the streets and many people living in poverty relying on food banks every week. As for them saying that they will work to become financially independent, it's a ridiculous thing to say and is quite unbelievable as they already are, harry has 25 million and meghan has 5 million,

I am a HUGE fan of Princess Diana. Remember she found her HAPPINESS after she left royal family. HARRY IS so much like his mummy. IF HE IS HAPPY with this decision let THEM be! Who are we to judge. I remember watching soooo many documentaries where Princess Diana expressed living Kensington Palace was like a prison. He loves his wife and his son. Like Whoppi said you dont know if UR not in it! We are no one to judge? All I remember is Prince Harry walking behind his mother's casket at such a young age. Can u imagine all pain he has been through losing his mother and have to grieve in front of the world.. He will NEVER allow the media/paparazzi to cause the pain to Meghan like they did to his mother. We need to remember that. Leave them alone. I am super happy for him, and Archie is by far the cutest baby ever in all of royal children. You can tell they are so in love. Why cant people just be happy for them. ♥️
