They didn't need to announce it at all. It's not newsworthy that some celebrity gets "chased" by paparazzi. The fact they did announce it (and in the manner that they did) just reveals they did it for publicity.

In 1974, Princess Anne was nearly kidnapped. She was in a car, there were multiple gunshots to the car and her driver was shot. She laughed off the incident. In 1994, Prince Charles was on a stage in Sydney, Australia about to do a speech. Two gunshots were fired and a man rushed on the stage. Charles barely batted an eye and made no comment on the incident. (There is a CZcams video of it.) In 2023, the Harkles get stuck in traffic, get their pictures taken by the paparazzi they called and make a huge drama about it.
Well paparazzi has no business following people in cars. Take the photo and get out of the faces of others.

I live in NYC and it felt cold and windy last night, someone should have brought her a jacket. And why were they in a taxi instead of a safer Suburban which are everywhere here for more private and secure rides? Her team needs to step up.

Chris Sanchez (one of their security guys who was there that night and allowed to speak as an official spokesperson for Harry on this matter) claimed it was a chase up to 80mph and that multiple pedestrians were in danger of dying. You can look up his direct quotes in an interview he gave to TMZ. This does not match the statements from: NYPD, the mayor, Backgrid, the cab driver, or one of the camera men if you want to look these up as well. I’m sure we will have CCTV and other official statements soon as well. I know as a lawyer you are concerned with sticking with the facts

They've visited NYC several times. I repeat, several times. With their security detail. They knew exactly what to do. It's even in their documentary about how their security and driver work on the right route for them to travel. She has even had security people routing her as far back as when she was first dating Harry - that was also in the documentary. This was a PR move and I'm willing to bet that you won't see their spokesperson doing any speaking again for them.

Diana didn’t die within 7 minutes. Part of the whole investigation into her death was that the first responders treated her for an extensive amount of time at the scene before transporting her to the hospital. When she got to the hospital, she was rushed into surgery and then passed away. From the time of the accident until her time of death it was approximate 2.5 hours.
The crash happened with in 7 mins is what she meant of her being in the car

Yes and it was her own security/driver that killed her due to being twice over the legal limit of alcohol mixed with prescription medication. There was no paparazzi there. The driver also died in the crash. Diana also did not have her seatbelt on.

As of November 1, 2020, New York State now requires all passengers to buckle up regardless of where they sit in the vehicle. If passengers do not wear a seat belt, the vehicle can be pulled over and adult passengers may receive a ticket New York State Law impacting all passengers in the State of New York.

I noted that neither Harry, Megan or her mother were wearing seatbelts. If Diana had been wearing one it’s highly possible she would have survived. The only person who survived the crash Diana died in was wearing one. I would have thought Harry would have learnt that lesson. I speak as a Brit.
Sister lives in the US and says no one wears seatbelts in taxi cabs still even though law came out while ago. If my mother died in car accident though I would be wearing one every time I’m in the car

They just needed more story for future documentaries. For such well seasoned travellers they employ shoddy people who didn't do a good job in planning and ensuring their safety. They didn't make smart decisions which exacerbated this situation. Stay at a hotel which caters for heads of state and huge celebrities rather than a private residence. When headed to celebrity functions pose for photos and don't go out the rear exit and try to avoid all photos as that just encourages people to chase you for them
