That windshield works amazing... I didn't feel any wind at all on your test ride!!!
I love my 2001 FLHRC-I
Rode from Anchorage to Kennebunk Maine. Greatest trip of my 62 year life
I ride a '99 police model no need to upgrade
I've always thought a stereo on a motorcycle was silly.
I did too....until I converted my road king into a road glide just so I could have a stereo. ... lol
In 1970 I put a car battery on the back seat of a 1964 BSA Thunderbolt. On top of the battery I put a speaker box, on top of that a 8 Track, on top of that another speaker box, Plugged in Jimi Hendrix and boggy'ed... but not these days, cause I don't get drugged like that anymore,
Years ago I had a Honda 750 with a stereo. Hated it. Have never even desired music on my bike since then. Don't miss it at all.
When Im riding down the road listening to the Allman Brothers or Willie Nelson I seem to like it a lot.
It's the dumbest idea ever
Just started riding at 63 a year ago. People told me to start small, well the h3ll with that, Got me an ‘07 Road King Classic, with a Screaming Eagle stage one mod, Vance and Hines tubes and pegs. Joined a club (BCHOGS) and have made great friends. Learned to ride in the winter as a member of the Polar Bears. That bike has made the greatest change in my life - a passion I haven’t had for decades. “The Beast” has 27k mi and runs like I just bought it from the dealer yesterday - and I wouldn’t trade it for a 103 or 110. Great bike. Great hobby. Great lifestyle.
Welcome to your new life mate enjoy.
Have a buddy who started a year ago at 52 and just recently got a 1964 panhead. It made all the difference for him
Great story! I'm about your age and I enjoy riding my Sportster 48. Age is only a number!
Didn't plan on this... but a 2007 RK custom became my 10th HD today. No windshield, and no fairing or radio, just pure goodness.
Mine came with 16" apes and color matched hard bags for the Suede Blue Pearl paint and a lot of chrome add ons with a set of Rhinehart's on it.
I rode a very special limited edition 1200 anniversary edition 2 hours away and just thought I'd 'stop by' a HD dealership and get a cup of coffee... 3 hours later I left with my 10th Harley... this amazing RK and traded away the Sporty.
Years ago, I traded in a 1998 RK in with 153k on it... RKs are just pure HD...like you said in the vid... it will never feel dated.
I have an '04. It has taken the fun out of motorcycling for me, because I am no longer searching for "my" perfect bike. I've literally owned 20 or more motorcycles in my years, and each one had a fatal flaw for me. Once I rode the "King", it got real.
Get a BMW!
@@Beinhartwie1chopper I’ve had two, a K1100RS and an RT1150. They are well built bikes, and serve their intended purposes, but I found them boring.
@@SinnerSince1962 👍 you might want to check out the 1300 GSA ( Adventure) when it comes out. (My friends in Germany ride a Road King too...😁)
1967 gen shovel on my 5th rebuild and 465 000 miles on the same motor . Its been in every state mexico and canada and its still going. Keep it going and ride free baby
That’s insane! How many miles it has now 3 years later?
I've had three Road Kings and I couldn't agree more. EVO, Twin Cam, and M-8. Great bikes.
I bought a 2000 road king last year, with 958 miles on it. Love it. Classic with tour pac.
Wouldn't the inside of the engine and all the seals be trash after sitting for 20 years??
Awesome find! I just bought a 1993 fxr Superglide with 1609 miles! Loving it these jokers on here don’t know shit about old Harleys. Enjoy your new purchase I’m loving mine.Ride it almost every day!
@@quinnjim, my RK is a 99 and it has no leaks. All seals still sealing and it runs like new.
Good move
Bought a 2001 Sportster 1200S with 5,000 miles. Runs like new. Great bikes.
With the overall look and styling of a 1950 Panhead the Road King is a modern classic machine.
Last year took a 1,300 mile trip on a 2007 Road King Classic that my friend has. Loved it. Would buy one in a heartbeat if I could. Great vid.
You can tell you're dealing with a millennial when he can't tell the difference between an 8-track and cassette player by looking at it! BTW... Great bike reviews.
Ouch! 🤣🤣🤣❗
🤣🤣🤣🤣
And the Evo came out in the 90's 🤣🤣
@@invioceenclosed 1984
I have a cassette player in my Trans Am and I love it! :-)
I love my 1995 Evo Road King. Bought it new in Oct '94. 86,000 miles. No major mechanical issues. I recently replaced the inner cam bearing and new S&S lifters. Great bikes and affordable too.
I totally love the design philosophy of the Road King. Big bike, bags and no fairing. That formula resonates for me. I wear full-face with Bluetooth audio, so don't want a fairing nor electronic gizmos. Just used a Ram Mount for the phone. I had a '09 Stratoliner, basically same layout. Comfortable big bike cruiser with the option for solo or two-up riding.
I bought a retired 03 RK Police... it was thrashed as a training bike, but I restored/customized it and absolutely love it. Pushing 60k miles and running great... especially with the backrest!
Bought a used '14 soon a couple years back and I love it. Still love other bikes for different needs but the RK warms the heart and it takes all the stress away.
Oh P.S. ur old RK currently my RK has 121k and still running strong. Thanx
which year is it thanks
70k on my 05...love it. FLHR
I've had lots of different types of bikes, but my 08 RK with the way I have it set up feels so good to ride. Its the keeper
2010 Road Kkng Classic here, love the bike, will never regret the buy. 18” Bars later I still don’t regret it 🤣
I really like the Road King, my friend who passed away in July 2019 he would let me ride his Road King and he would ride his Electra Glide Limited. But the road king is a sweet ride but I prefer the 103. I rode in a Heritage Softail with the 88 and there was just no power it had power but it wasn't great on the expressway.
I have a 2012 FLD Switchback. 103 w/6Speeds. The salesman called it a 3/4 RoadKing. Perfect for 5’7” and shorter.
Terrific video. Had a few harleys. A 96’ Road King was my first. My favorite thou was a 99 softail Heritage. It didn’t handle well, wasn’t fast, brakes were marginal, but the feeling of the ride with the solidly mounted 80 inch evo motor was unmistakable. What a ride!
I bought a '99 Heritage Softail Classic with 27k miles. I agree with your assessment on marginal brakes. Love the sound of my bike.
I bought a new one in 2009 where they eliminated many welds and put that Hot crossover exhaust under the bike. Fantastic handling with a stiffer frame. Great milage with 6 speed also.
Lov my 02 Road King and 19 Road King Special.
I got a 2017 Road King. I agree! And it’s the one of the timeless iconic bikes that Harley has ever made. I love my Road King!!
My 06 Road King is my favorite and you are correct, when summer comes the windshield is off!
06 Road King Classic rider as well.
Nice vid, I have a 2009 Road King, I’ve ridden this bike around Australia on two separate occasions and I just love it! I also have highway pegs, a detachable backrest, a Klock Works screen which is way better than the stock one. Also fitted 211 cams to the motor for more mid range punch, apart from an auto tuner, K&N filter and slip on mufflers, it’s a stock 96 ci. Great handling bike that is soooo comfortable on long road trips. Awesome!
2014 RK owner here. Bought it two years ago and have only put about 3800 miles on her but planning a nice long road trip this summer! Love this bike!
Since you made this video, I've found 6 windshields out in the fields!
I've had several motorcycles but my 2018 road king is by far my favorite motorcycle, its very fun to ride...
I agree. My 2004 Road King has the 96cc conversion kit, and it runs amazing. You can really customize your ride. Awesome Bike!
Just added 21" front with white wall and 6" stretch bags on my 05 FLHR, love the lowrider classic look..
Great vlog. Thank you for posting. I love my 2020 Road King and I love my 1992 FXRs Lowrider.
I've got a '18 Road King, and a '03 V-Rod. I'm a happy dude. Ride Free!!
i have a 02 FLHR, and a 05 VRSCSE, so i am blessed as well brother.
Good choices. I kinda want the 03 Vrod as a first bike
I have a 2018 road king but sold my 04 v rod love the king
Nice video and can’t agree more. I have a 18 Ultra Limited and just picked up 2000 RK classic for actually what you said and getting back to the basics of riding. Be safe
Thank You for Gods Words and Ill be getting a Road King for my Next bike. Im 67 and own a Triumph Tiger Explorer for of road rides with Michelin Anakee Wild Tires im putting on it now. I need 2 bikes so my Next is going to be a Harley. Keep reading Gods words to All of Us. It fit perfect today.
When you get a little older you'll appreciate the windscreen. In 2007 I bought a Yamaha 1600 Silverado with a windscreen. My first bike with a windscreen at 51 years old. I rode it quite a bit and one day took off the windscreen. As soon as I got home I put it back on and never went without again for about 20k miles. Next time I'm in my hometown of York PA I'll take a drive over to see you in Landisville.
I’ve owned 3 Harleys. I had a Heritage Softail. The positives of that bike is it has a classic look which reminds me of the Road King, but is a little lighter and more nimble, great for newer (not beginner) riders. Then, I had the Road King. Loved it! Took trips out of state on it several times. I would like to still have it, but we decided to take more trips out of state and even across the country. At that point, we wanted more luggage space and I liked the idea of having navigation. That’s when I bought the Limited I have now. I’ve loved them all. A newer rider wouldn’t want to start on a Limited though.
I agree, I have a 1998 Anniversary model Road King Classic bought new with only 26K miles and I love the looks and performance.
I have a 2011 Road King with the 96 motor. Had it for years. Love that bike! I am thinking about getting an Ultra Limited, will keep the Road King too!
I have an '11 Road King Peace Officer edition, and I love mine. The 96' engine does just fine for what this bike's purpose is. I love the windshield for interstate riding, for local/ back road riding I pop mine off. It's my favorite in the HD lineup for sure. Mine has Pythons as well, and I agree that they're just right for a touring bike. Loud enough to hear the motor talking, but not loud enough to get annoying after an hour. Now it just needs an Indian FTR1200 to keep it company.
I bought a new Dana in 2007. I loved it, got addicted to the way a HD starts up.
Sean, I love that blue color. When I was transitioning from a sport bike to a cruiser, you helped me with making my decision between which Harley to get. I am now a proud owner of an 08 Road King for a couple years now. Best decision I ever made.
BTW, are you sure your CVO is a Road King? I thought only heritages and Deluxes had that tombstone tail light.
Last Christmas I traded my '92 Softail in on a '97 King. It's good to be King.
How you liking jt?
I have a stage 2 on mine its very impressive and I use to be a sportbike guy when I was younger.
Bought my 2000 FLHRI brand new. It turned 20 years old last month (took delivery Dec. 1999). That was back in the day when you were on a waiting list for around a year. I picked my color and options before it was built by HD. (Cast wheels, injected, & solid red (not 2 tone). Still have it today. Great bike.
the other cool thing about the road king is they have the coolest look behind the handlebars, the best headlight of all harleys (look)
Love my ‘04. Sierra red Road King. Extra chrome bits and the Sundowner saddle are great with my 29” inseam. Standard height wind screen gives great wind protection. Lower height gives great visibility. No desire to upgrade. This is my perfect bike.
I have 2018 Road King and my brother has a 2001 Road King Classic/Injected. I am all about the Road King. Nothing beyond preference; the other touring models with the fairing make me feel like I'm in a cage. And I have a backrest on my bike. As a 26 year old individual. I'll take comfort over cool any day.
You got comfort, and THEE coolest of ALL!!
I always wanted a Harley- Road king . I've owned a Vulcan 1500 nomad , Roadstar 1600 , currently a Honda VTX 1800S
I love my 2018 Fat Bob FXFBS. Took it from CA to Huntsville Alabama. No issues. Well except for gas tank. Had to fill it every 120 miles.
Just purchased a 2006 RK classic, went from a Honda sabre Shadow 1100. Man i tell ya the Harley is something special, rides like Caddy! Its the stock 88 but have slip ons for sound. Love this bike! havent ridden many other HArleys but the 2018 Heritage with the 114 motor is awesome too. RK for life!
i test rode a '17 road king a couple years ago as a father's day present to myself. a harley will be my next bike, and i loved riding the road king so much that it will be my next bike
Own a 1988 Electraglide Sport, which is the precursor to the Road King. Love it...Great video
I agree. My favorite and current ride is a RoadKing.
I went from a 250cc Honda Rebel straight to a Road King. I plan to keep both.
Thanks, great video. Was up in the air for a Heritage classic and the Road King. Now I'm looking for a Road King
I would buy from you just for the California comment. I wish we could give them to Canada. It would solve soooo many problems.
2015 Road King is my bike. No music - Puts you in your head to think about the things in your life that you should figure on. Highway pegs allows you to shift the position of your feet, it helps out on a long haul. We are meant to walk upright, sitting for 5, 6, or 1000 miles, (in 24 hours 'Iron Butt') your back is killing you. A backrest is a must if you want to ride a long distance without pain.
I have a 2007 Road King standard in White Gold Pearl. I went to the Harley Dealer in September of 2006 to buy some cleaning supplies for my former bike and she followed me home! I’m 61 now and I’m thinking that my Road King will be my last bike until I’m too old to ride. I have a bit over 60K miles on her and it’s been all over the country. Looks and rides like she did when brand new. Love her ❤️ !!!
Thank you for this. I sold my 03 Road Glide due to divorce two years ago. I just purchased a 03 RK 100th Anniversary Edition in November. Had a surgery scheduled, couldn’t drive it but had it put in storage right away. Just waiting patiently for spring to come to Wausau Wisconsin. Purchased this through my mechanic. 23k miles on it, the person that had it was meticulous and was kind of a neighborhood rider.
I enjoy your bible verses before all of your CZcams’s.
Thank you
I’m in the middle of a similar situation. I hit a deer on my Electra glide in august. Totaled the bike and tore me up pretty good. Long story short. 3rods, 4 plates, 27 screws, are now a part of my anatomy. 3 weeks after the crash I found a rk , checked it out had my brother test ride, and it’s been in the garage since. Can’t wait to ride again
Im picking up a 2007 Road King Classic in Burgundy tomorrow. First Harley so i'm definitely looking forward to it. Thanks for the videos!
Nice review. Love the Road King I also prefer to ride without a fairing and see all the road. Keep the radio and infotainment for the car.
Need to make daily content I love everything you put out keep it up man
01 RK Screaming Eagle classic....dark blue/silver metallic.
Your headlight "hats" are light visors and prevent back glare.
I've always liked the RK. I'd love to have one as a second bike.
Recently purchased a rebuilt 2005 Road King Custom from the estate of the wifes uncle, who bought it new, but flooded, off a lot in New Orleans after hurricane Katrina. He trailored it back to Ohio and spent years rebuilding, replacing and upgrading. One cool thing he did was a 6 speed gear box. The bike has 2,000 miles and looks and runs fabulous. Its my first Harley and an awesome upgrade from my 1996 Virago 750, thats for sure. I agree with your take on Road Kings. It has everything i want. Nothing i dont. And yes, i will be gettkng highway pegs soon.
Completely agree, like to see more of the road and keep it simple.
Love my Road King. Great video.
Hope to find a nice RK by next year when I turn 65 because I'm going touring all over . Had a Sportster a few years , it was lots of fun but no good for long runs . Love the look of the RK , classic design :D
I agree Sir. I have 1995 FLHR and can't stay off it. Thank you for video.
My ride through the desert to work is about an hour long. Some days I want music, other days silence is golden. Having a radio isn’t a bad thing.
...I watch so many of your videos I know exactly where you are going to turn and when! In His Love!!
I'm buying an '04 on Tuesday with some killer upgrades, including Ohlins shock, Progressive fork upgrade, and hydraulic cam chain adjusters. Never been a Harley guy, but have a Triumph Thruxton R for my sporting stuff, and the wife wants something comfortable. Kinda jazzed about it.
I've rode a few different make and model motorcycles over the years and finally bought a 2020 Road King Standard and I will say it's the best motorcycle I have ever owned.
That is one FINE lookin' bike. Nice presentation, Sean! My youngest son talked my wife into a sporty with a back rest. I really found it comfortable. He took it off so when he and his friends ride, they feel "cooler". Wish I still lived in Greensburg, PA instead of SoCal so that I could drop by, buy & license an olderer bike just like this. -Been watching Cycle Trader but the ones like yours with lovely paint seem to be kept by their owners. I'll just have to be patient.
I have a 2004 Road King Custom 88 cubic inches Bumped Up ! Took care of the chain tension er when I replaced the cams . Love my Road King !
Best bike Harley makes . I don't need or want to listen to a stereo while riding . Listening to my bike is fine with me !
The rumble of the Harley Davidson is the radio
'08 softail heritage classic is my ride. Your '07 road king is exactly like my 08 same color too. I love my classic. I put new spark plugs, air filter KandN, and new rear Metzler cruise tech tire. I cant help ride w. A smile.. 2020=Liked. Awesome vid..
I had an 09 road king traded it for a 17 road glide special. withing one year traded it for an 18 road king standard. Loving this bike
probably gonna have to start test driving snowmobiles here pretty soon
had an '05 Road King and it was a great bike for sure, but my 2018 Street Glide Special just has all that greatness with a capitol "G".
BZZZT!!! Gotta hit the buzzer on this one. The finest looking bike ever made by man is the Harley Deluxe, I've never been able to walk away from mine without looking back...sometimes twice. 😍
Your correct, the Deluxe is a beauty but if ur a long range rider, the RK is a more comfortable ride and quite the classic beauty herself.
I have a 2006 road king classic. Exactly what you said. No bells and whistles. Just pure motorcycling pleasure. Mine is stock standard. Awesome handling even loaded and with a passenger. Awesome motorcycle
Trusty trusty trusty
I road bikes for 30+ years with 15 of them as a motor cop. The Road Kjng Police was my favorite police bike by far. The BMW RT-P was also excellent, but the RKP had a wonderfully low center of balance. In competition cops would often slice the rubber stops that limit the distance of travel for your handlebars so they could remove or replace them to reduce the turning radius.
I have a Yamaha V-Star 650 that is just like the Road King but much lighter and with sexier lines. If it had a 6th gear it would be the perfect bike. I replaced the rear seat with a rack and added a back rest, and it is incredibly comfortable!
bought a mustang seat with a backrest, hands down the best thing I bought after the bike.
Funny story: When I rode a Yamaha Road Star XV1600 people would always ask if it was a Harley. Now that I'm riding a Harley NOT ONE person has asked me if I'm riding a Yamaha.
This is a dumb comparison. If you ride a sportbike, nobody is gonna ask if it is a Harley
beautiful bike brother and as always Indiana love and blessings!!!!!!!!
thanks for the motoquote tip - I am checking it out now!
Thanks for the words of wisdom!
I love the Road King, it really is all the stuff you want, and none of the BS you don't! I test rode a 2020 Road King Special with the 114, and immediately fell in love with it!! A Road King will be my next bike!!
Love my 2018 FHLP Police Road King. The Milwaukee 8 motor does the job.
Need some art work or a srk cycles banner on the wall your background is to plain. Love your videos. ✌🏾
Road king is one of my favorites. If the wife wouldnt kill me if i brought a 3rd bike home id have one alongside my springer fx and electraglide ultra
I have a dyna 88" lowrider with the 6 speed for putting around and a 2007 police ultraglide special order 110" screaming eagle for longer runs. The ultra has an extensively upgraded sound system that i just love.
So the best bike is multiple bikes.
I agree, I don't like all that extra stuff that's on the fairings, keep it simple.
Love that sky blue/ish color so much!!!!!!!!
"The California one voted Democrat." lol
I agree , I've had mine for 18yrs. The King just comes with a speedometer which I never look at unless a cop is behind me.
Buying a used 05 RK tommorow, 65k well maintained and seviced miles, as much as 18 Rebel 300 cost..keeping both!
I have 95 RK with 61k miles and O3 CVO RK with 22Kiles. Love both. I never could understand the fairing thing with sterio and all the buttons.
