So What If Cade Cunningham Isn't A Future "Superstar"?

- Cade Cunningham was viewed as one of the more highly touted prospects in recent memory when he entered the NBA. He drew comparisons to guys like James Harden and Luka Doncic as a big playmaking guard. However given the inefficiency and lack of team success through three NBA seasons. It’s lead to people questioning if Cade is still that future superstar. If he has the upside to be what made him the consensus first overall pick. Especially with guys drafted after him performing better through three NBA seasons. In this video I want to talk about what I have seen in the tape and numbers with Cade Cunningham. What I believe he is as a player right now. As well as what I see in the upside for him as a player.

Ant plays Both ends and is a impact player cade just don’t impact the game he get his numbers but it don’t impact the game
Cade’s shooting 45/36/85 splits this year which is about normal for a lot of really good offensive players

@@cameronbolden5064 no, i’m not arguing that cade should have been an all star. i was a bit misleading with that. i’m just providing context to his season, he’s been awesome. there’s no question that he’s a offensive engine. he’s been given the worst roster in the league, but he’s someone still progressing as an efficient leading guard (while also getting the worst whistle of any leading guard in the league).
My point is that this video questions Cade’s validity as No.1 option, while he’s only progressed in all of the areas that we wanted him to after his rookie year. He’s been a leader on & off the court, and has dragged this putrid team to their wins. I’m not comparing the two teams and their success, but there’s no way Paolo & Cade can be putting up the exact same numbers with one being a No.1 option/all-star while the other is a disappointment. It’s all about context. If you watch the film & pay attention to how Cade has progressed in so many areas rather than narrative, it’s clear that Cade is a number one option
His efficiency around the rim is also a direct result of his unfair whistle. Cade gets zero respect from officials.
NBA doesn't want Cade averaging 30 pts per came this early in career yet on the pistons. Cause if he gets a fair whistle he goes to the line 3-6 more time a game. Cade is already almost a 90% ft shooter. With a fair whistle he is in the all star game. And pistons in the play in.

Im a raptors fan and im still a huge believer in Cade. Hes still arguably the best player from the 2021 draft but he just needs a better team to showcase his stardom more.

I understand why cause if he got calls he would be averaging 8+ free throws a night . It would put cade in top 7 in ppg in NBA. The NBA is not ready for cade,and the pistons to be great again.

22/7/4 on solid shooting has been really good for a guy that hasn't even played two seasons worth of games in the NBA yet and has by far the worst supporting cast of any top pick in the past decade. He's 5th in the number of drives per game, 10th in the number of points on those drives, and has a pass % above 35% on those drives. So there's a lot more to his game than the mid-range and three point shots. He's also 9th in assists this year with a rapidly improving assist::turnover ratio. He's showing he's the best player from his draft class. And right in-line with the development curve that Devin Booker had.
Cade is definitely better than Harden. Who is playing better than Cade from his draft class? I don't see anyone. Cade's only real weakness is the turn-overs. He actually can correct that. I see him improve his 3-ball faster than I've ever seen someone improve their shot. Cade's release is higher and his form is more fluid. Maybe, his defense could be better, but I've seen him get some great blocks.
Cade is not better than Harden lol, and currently I would take Scottie and Franz without a doubt over him and possibly Mobley too
Cade might be better than Harden at this point in Harden's career, but that's not to say he's better than peak Harden obviously. As for Franz, Scottie, Evan, and Cade, I think Cade is the easy choice over those guys as only Franz can come close to the ability to create for himself and others. Cade is the better shooter of any of them. Scottie and Evan are obviously much better defensively and I think they would be amazing 2nd guys on a team, but don't have the potential to lead a team like Cade and maybe Franz could.

@@michaeltomak152 Franz is already a second option and Scottie scores just as good as Cade, maybe slightly worse, is a slightly worse playmaker, a much better defender and a better rebounder, id take Scottie over both

He has a roster, all the vets and most the scrubs gone now. Now cade and the youngins can play. Duren, Asuar, Stew, Ivey Cade, Sasser, Grimes, and Simone. Everyone else will be gone next year except Wiseman unfortunately.

Last year he had several plays where he got the block rebound and assist in the same play. 1 was against the Warriors and another I think was against the Hawks

Strange time to post this video when he’s been playing superstar level the last couple weeks, with literally no whistle
If Cade got somebody like Reed Shephard playing next to him, he would go next level. Having other shooters will give him more space. The problem with Ivey is that he collapses the spacing offensively because he's such an amazing threat to drive. He also doesn't play much defense. Reed fixes both of those problems. He's a lights out shooter and plays good defense. Ivey would be an awesome 6th man.

Cade is the best player in The 2021 draft and the only ones that are close are sengun,scottie and Mobley but look at the team they have scottie had pascal,og around him Mobley has dmitch,garland,jarret and sengun now has fred and brooks and who does Cade have besides Ivey and duren who are in year 2 and don’t forget he has to play with wiseman and killian and bagley 3 known busts Cade will get his flowers soon if the gm builds around him
Luka and Shai are both play very slowly and do not use their athletisism whatsoever. And yet they're the two best guards in the league by a mile. How is lack of burst a knock on Cade when it's proved the best of the superstars also lack it?
And his rim efficiency will come. Anyone who watches pistons games can see the lack of spacing, and the fact he gets NO FOUL CALLS. That's not an issue
