SpaceX's Booster 12 Begins Testing, Starship V2 Begins Stacking, & a week of launch anomalies

- What a week! as always Starship has seen big progress, with our first look at Starship V2, testing of Booster 12, and assembly of tower 2 now well underway, and….oh my! Lots of mishappenings across the board! Boeing’s Starliner Astronauts are still stuck on the ISS, Hyperbola 1 suffered a launch failure, Falcon 9 suffered a second stage engine RUD after a LOx leak, and Ariane 6’s maiden flight suffered a failure that precluded third relight of its Vinci upper stage, losing 2 of its payloads. In fact, only 1 out of the 4 orbital launches last week was a complete success. Furthermore, NASA’s 4.25 billion dollar Europa Clipper spacecraft now looks like it may not be able to launch this year following the discovery that some of its key components won’t stand up to Jupiter’s harsh radiation levels. All of this and so much more, enjoy!

Lol
2:16 - I love that there is a SpaceX worker on a skateboard :)
2:54 sorry I'm late honey, I was stuck in traffic behind a starship booster.

That super heavy booster just casually driving down the street looked so stupidly hilarious.
Falcon 9?
falcon 9 lol
@@amberthecinderacee836 hey, I don’t know that much about rockets yet and it looked falcon 9 to me 🤷♂
@@Officer_duh well, now you know that's a Super heavy Booster.
Better to get it wrong and learn than to try nothing and stay stupid.
that is starship's super heavy booster
That "Must be the European in me" about spent stages killed me!
I can now live in peace knowing that Starship V2 looks awesome and not cursed
hey.....that kind of looks like a penguin.
matt lawne: draws a penguin.
LMAO
"...to clean up my rather cluttered orbit"
Matt, you have no idea what a cluttered orbit looks like.
Makes sense to make the flaps smaller since we have all seen they still worked wile half molten away!
I get this is probably a super small nitpick but using "RUD" for Falcon 9 and failure for all other failures is a bit weird imo.
Also it never really “disassembled” just failed. It was originally said as a joke by space x to make your ship blowing up sound cute but now it is kind of worn out.
Also sticking to the "As long as payloads get delivered it's a success"(booster landing fail not mattering since it did the objective) it is a mission failure, but ig ye the booster worked well
Hey Matt, I love this series, just a small recommendation- I know it would probably be a lot more work, but a small date for each of the shots you show would really help the more amateur space fans like myself. It's only that a lot of launches can look very similar, and a date somewhere on the screen would do miles for me. Thanks anyway, keep up the good work 🙏 🙌
6:32 "spaceflight is chalenging" it's literally rocket science
Yes - Space travel is hard. It never stops being hard.
Nuh uh
Nope - the science is easy, it’s the engineering that’s difficult
As easy as neuroscience, which famously a 5 year old can do
Provided they were born on the 29th of Feb, and are talented plus intelligent
The penguin gives me Learn To Fly vibes
XD
I feel I should thank you for getting me interested in rocket development, you've been my preferred space news creator since ship 15 and I only just now took the time to appreciate that fact. Love you matt!
I feel like Suni should really count as two astronauts: Suni, and Suni's hair. It has so much presence it ought to get its own space suit.

I just loved ❤ your penguin drawing. Think I'll buy one 😅
July 8th was my birthday, special vid for me :)!
Penguin nose cone, brilliant!
Thumbs up for the awesome penguin.
Thanks for these videos man. 😊
Static fire happened this morning & it looked AWESOME!
Those no tiled barrel sections are more than likely. The refueling tankers version two has to start proving the technology and capability of refuel and starship.
We really want tower 1 to have a refit.
Joking aside, there are good reasons why Cetaceans. (Your drawing may have been a Penguin, but it looked like a killer wale to me), look the way they do, nature had designed them perfectly! It woukd make perfect sense for SpaceX to copy their design!
LOL “idk why I did this”, why I love Matt’s shows 😊
The penguin....😂😂😂😂😂😂 im rolling!
So excited for flight 5 , I can't wait 🙃
Man, this is so much better with the music!
With the flaps to leeward I’m definitely getting bloodhound, maybe Snoopy vibes
Matt I was also worried but spaced once again paid off it’s work

Me: *watches intensely at falling frost/ ice getting blasted away by the Merlin engine
Matt your photoshop skills are superb! Any chance for more?
2:16 they see me rollin, they hatin
I’ve been waiting for this one!
In honour of Europa Clipper, whether it goes ahead or not, I'd love to see a mission recrea in KSP..... Not sure how it could be done in stock (Vall = Europa I guess but IDK about the flight plan) but definitely doable in RSS, maybe with Principia since the whole "clipper" aspect of doing multiple flybys can be unreliable with patched conics.
2:15 electric skateboard lol
Wonder if we will ever see under ocean colonies on Europa
hey matt, i think itd be cool for your next ssto to be a flying wing, like the b-2 spirit, i tried designing one and its quite difficult to get working properly
Confirmed, starship v2 is Tux
For that matter of the last 3 science fiction series I read. All of them had some sort of life under the oceans of europa. In one case that life was so alien we could not interact with it in any way.
You really need to use CKAN to manage the mods....

Starship V2 aka TUX
Where do those tower segments come from?
6:39 Arguably?
Question, if there will ever be an international cooperation again in space like the space station. But include China. What country could start this? What country could be the catalyst?
technically you werent wrong about the b12 begins testing, just kinda late
Matt. The Falcon 9 Starlink launch wasn’t a partial failure. The entire payload was lost, making it a complete failure. Please stop making excuses for SpaceX as it can affect your credibility.
What saved it from being a complete failure was the first stage landing, imo.
@@KerbalsandWackMacsDoesn't matter the first stage landed the mission was a full failure
I guess some people think "leeward" means "forward." It does not
Also, isn’t it pronounced “loo-erd”?
10:10 Most intense radiation in the solar system if you exclude the sun, right?
Make the ariane 6 in ksp
B12 just static fired
Will you have interest in PlanCo 2?
How much power would iss produce, if they had kept all solar arrays of those visitors, which just burned up later?
The moving of the flaps has nothing to do with appearance. It is about functionality. What strange comments you had on that one.
2:17
Matt is the best
How long until flight 5? 6 weeks?
5:17 Quick correction the starlink mission was unfortunately a full failure not a partial. Because none of the satalites were able to be put in its expected orbit. If atleast 1 was then yeah it would be a partiel faliure but since 0 of them were then its a full failure unfortunately.
I men ig.
Life simple. Matt upload, me click.
NOORT NOORT
hm im surprised to not see any news coverage on the university 3D printed AI generated rocket engine (that is a mouthful) that has actually been tested xD
I haven't heard leeward used in this manner before and I don't understand what it means.
The top side when in belly-flop attitude. (The side sheltered from the airflow)

Don't Jupiter has a magnetosphere??? If yes why does the satellite needs to be radiation hardened??
You probably know of Van Allen radiation belts, not as deadly as some like to say but still bad.
Now imagine that but so much worse.
Unrelated (i apologize) but could you tell me what textures you had installed for ksp1? the game looks bland and id like something more visually appealing.
when you misclick in KSP and try to put it back where it was
I love these kinds of things

8:04 I'm assuming the second stage will deorbit naturally over time?
"Starship V2 Begins Stacking" hmmmmmm

4:25 for launches
ErcX Space seems to have incorrectly interpreted the word "leeward" as meaning "closer to the tip". Gross.
@MattLowne pls help im stuk on the mun on one of my new games i did not see the groun and landed funny my whole ship blew upp and exploded the command pod and a few test survived i rolled down a hill pls help
8:30 Why do they even try to use the starliner at this point? Can they bolt the dragon capsule on top of the vulcan, if they want to spend way more money for the same effect? Come on guys, is this rocket science or something?
NASA daying that starliner is good for emergencies only is basically them saying that its better than nothing
