Mad Man Moon. Such a stunning gorgeous expansive tune.

Only an honorable mention for Firth of Fifth. Insanity. My favourite song ever. Every section is incredible and it has the finest guitar solo ever performed. Nad you must know how this solo established Steve Hackett amongst the pantheon of all musicians.

One of these days “...In That Quiet Earth” will get the love it deserves! Awesome insight from Nad and the gang. Please keep these coming!

That would definitely be the Genesis track with my all-time favorite analog synth solo by Mr. Banks!!

My brother and I did a challenge on coming up with the ultimate Genesis double CD , with a maximum of 24 tracks ( 12 per CD ) . We also had to work within the time constraints of a CD . We allowed a couple of segues to count as 1 track . ( like Fly on a Windshield segueing into Broadway Melody ).
    This was my selection :
CD 1 : The Light Dies Down on Broadway
    Squonk
    Dancing With the Moonlit Night
    Blood on the Rooftops
    Anyway
    ...In That Quiet Earth
    Get 'Em Out by Friday
    The Lamia
    Can-Utility and the Coastliners
Return of the Giant Hogweed ( Live version from the Live album )
    Undertow
The Cinema Show / Aisle of Plenty
CD 2 : Watcher of the Skies
    Burning Rope
    Firth of Fifth
    Mad Man Moon
    Time Table
    One for the Vine
    Ripples
    Behind the Lines
    Guide Vocal
    Seven Stones
    Afterglow
    In The Rapids / It

You gotta have dancing with the moonlit knight and the entire duke suite come on now. Also Nad seems like a gentle sweet and interesting guy enjoyed listening to him.

Glad so so happy that I’ve been made aware of this vocalists and some all ways was Peter Gabriel fan last time I saw Rainbow Finsbury Park N London 1973 October I think visually fantastic and the sound where have I been jezzsaidscrists give it up the One and Only Nad Sylvan🎶🎶🎶

That was really fun guys! 👏👏
I love Nad Sylvan and his work on the Genesis Revisited tours. I was surprised that Firth of Fifth missed the album and that Snowbound made it. Although I have come to really like Snowbound over the years (especially after discovering its macabre meaning juxtaposed with the beautiful music) it just doesn't beat Firth of Fifth for me. ❤

  • @Cr8Tron

If we're talking strictly pre-Lamb, Nursery Cryme through Selling England alone would already yield three obvious essentials per album:
    The Musical Box
The Return of the Giant Hogweed
    The Fountain of Salmacis
    Watcher of the Skies
    Can-Utilty and the Coastliners
    Supper's Ready
    Dancing with the Moonlit Knight
    Firth of Fifth
    The Cinema Show
If you wanted to top it off with one more pre-Lamb track to make it a top-10, you gotta include at least one from Trespass, which obviously would have to be The Knife (perhaps also include Looking for Someone, and Stagnation, if you want the top-12).
Now add the entire Lamb album as your bonus track, and then you're in business!! 😜👍

I enjoyed the discussion very much, thank you, especially hearing from Nad. I agree with only a few of your selections though. Nad’s selections were the best. Maybe I missed it, but surely Blood on the Rooftops was not omitted.

And Then There Were Three has come a long way. Burning Rope and Many Too Many crop up on the David Myers CDs and leaves me thinking where does that tune come from? Oh, it's from the stuff after W&W I didn't bother with. Excellent album.
    33:13 great question for Nad.
    I think my favorites are
    Supper's Ready
    The Battle of Epping Forest
Fly on a Windshield / Broadway Melody of 1974
    Colony of Slippermen
    The Musical Box
Anyway (or The Lamia on Wednesdays)
    White Mountain
    The Fountain of Salmacis
    Robbery, Assault and Battery
    One for the Vine

Nobody chose "The Lamia" or "Dusk" or "Stagnation" from "Trespass". There are really so many to choose from...but I'm not a fan of "And Then There Were Three", I've even gone back and listened to it lately, it sounds contrived and stiff with Rutherford assuming guitar duties, they were floundering without Hackett.

Both my 9 y.o and 6 y.o absolutely love Supper's ready, and my oldest likes Nad better than Peter Gabriel :) He was actually very surprised (as was I) to hear Nad sings on Icarus ascending, a fantastic rendition of Richie Haven's tone and singing.

Nad is a phenominal singer (better than Gabriel in my opinion). How he learns all of the complex Genesis lyrics is amazing & beyond my comprehension! Would love to hear how he does that.

I'm sorry...Please Don't Ask, Snowbound, Mad Man Moon, really??? All good songs, but ultimate Genesis???
My twelve (in this order for optimal flow) would be: Watcher of The Skies, Dancing With Moonlight Knight, I Know What I Like, The Lamb, Counting Out Time, Carpet Crawlers, Firth Of Fifth, Dance On A Volcano, Down And Out, No Reply At All, Supper's Ready, and The Musical Box
