- STEVE HACKETT
GENESIS REVISITED LIVE AT HAMMERSMITH
Hackett made its mark on prog rock in the Seventies with his astounding, innovative work as Genesis' lead guitarist, before embarking in a fulfilling solo career in 1977. In 1996 he released 'Genesis Revisited' - followed by 'Genesis Revisited II' in 2012 - where he reinterpreted Genesis classics from Golden Era (1971-77), keeping the original spirit of the songs intact while giving them a new edge, with the help of an impressive plethora of special guests. Steve Hackett is the first ex member to revive that particular segment of the band's seminal career; the 'Genesis Revisited' Tour, Steve's most ambitious production so far, sold out its first batch of dates in the UK.
It takes a legend to bring a myth back to life. A unique treat for music fans worldwide, Steve Hackett's critically acclaimed live production 'Genesis Revisited' has so far triumphed in Europe, Japan and North America alike and is still going strong; on May 10th it celebrated its success at a sold out London's Hammersmith Apollo with an ecstatic audience. Genesis Revisited - Live at Hammersmith - a unique performance with guests including Nik Kershaw, John Wetton, Jakko Jakszyk, Steve Rothery and Amanda Lehmann, coincides with the return of Hackett's Genesis Revisited Tour to the UK for a second round due to popular demand. - Hudba
Fantastic...and the only thing missing from the video was that it didn’t continue with Squonk.
Hah ha. It feels like an itch when it doesn't continue to that.
There you go!
JUST IMAGINE Hackett with Gabriel ...my Goddddddddddddd
the genius Hackett left but he composed some others great Albums Historics Albums Prog man
Tu as raison Squonk est Historic et pourtant
Without exaggeration one of the most beautiful songs ever written.
I remember the first time I heard this, I was literally mesmerized by the aesthetic. Haunting, soporific... entangling.
Always been one of my favorites
Yes but the lyrics are obscure and ironic.
Martin Kulkarni what?? You don’t play dance on a volcano? That’s sacrilege lol.
Ricardo Gabriel Zanelli that’s what makes it great.
Takes me back to 1976 an era when life was different, peaceful and happy. I would lie with my girlfriend on Box Hill Surrey in the sun gazing up at the sky watching the gliders circle in the thermals whilst listening to Entangled.. Beautiful..
Thank you sir Hackett. For keeping genesis alive.
dont keep alive he create for Genesis
Steve
God PROG
hacket compos
Agree...!
Thanks to Mr Hackett for keeping these beautiful songs fresh and still as good as the day they were written
Jesus the keyboard finale is sublime, still makes the hairs on my neck stand up to this day.
JESUS ? hACKETT cOMPOSED THIS MEN LIKE fOUNTAIN JUST LISTEN SOLO ALBUMS aLAN
oui le son Méllotron !grande final aux claviers ....
The sound gets me thinking that maybe he should have sent that sound through a keyboard amp with a mic to it, so it would sound "as bad" / "in the same room" as the rest of the band. Some covers on youtube actually capture it more deeply like the album original (or the bootleg live). :)
Hackett brain composed for 76 instruments and mellotron and he ask Tony to buy a MellOron and Steve PLAY and look first name beside title Entangled its Hackett the composer of 90% % OF Genesis look the name first beside the titles its Hackett Inside Genesis czcams.com/video/c2F4mMOyIFE/video.html
Hackett composed on mellotron Entangled , he ask Genesis first when he comes to Genesis...
I’ve followed Genesis since 1975 and Trick of the tail was my first album and I was hooked, this song is haunting and so so beautiful 😍
Outstanding. A million miles away from what passes for popular music today, and a million times better.
My hairs stood up and my beard fell out. That's how great this is
There's a deep pathway in my brain which will always hop into Squonk the moment Entangled ends.
Yes
One of my all-time favorite genesis songs -Steve Hackett does a beautiful job here. And what a great backing band-good to see the younger generations appreciating this good classic stuff
👍👍👍👍
As an “old school” Genesis diehard who fell in love with early/mid seventies Genesis this remains one of my most loved songs of all, extremely poignant and takes me away from wherever I am at any time I hear it ❤️
The only original Genesis member that seems to "get" what Genesis actually was
Agree on all points , although Banks' input should not be underestimated or undervalued but a humoulrless c**t he was nevertheless - particularly with his slagging off of his once best friend , Peter Gabriel , and for his shameless sacking of Steve Hacķett .
@@ThefightingCelt It's his band anyway. And once upon a time, he was also a keyboard genius who created masterpieces like this, and some of the most memorable organ solos in prog/rock history! What happened after 1978, it's still mystery to me..
Steve was not an original member. Just FYI. I love the old stuff too, and Steve is an absolute favorite. But he was not an original member. You should check out Ant Phillips' stuff. :-)
Technically speaking, Hackett wasn't an original member. He replaced Anthony Philipps but I totally understand what you mean. Peter was the progressive mind of Genesis while Hackett was the progressive soul.
@@marijanbrkic4875 The ironic part about Genesis going pop was that it ended up benefiting Phil more than is did Banks.
This was genuinely magic live. Saw Steve in Liverpool, few years ago. Close your eyes and it's 1976 again.
Beautiful song; I miss the old Genesis.
Me too👍 I am 59 Years old
@@wolfgang8818 Kann ich locker schlagen
The most beautiful rock song ever
written 🙏🇬🇧🙏🇬🇧
Genesis is at least 50 years the music accompanying me in my life ...
And we are millions fans like you ;-)
@@MrStrat01 millions and one...... me......
Man we must have played „selling England“ and „trick of....“ LPs thousands of times back in the late seventies.... awesome music.
those are my two favs
Tens of thousands ?
AND "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway", do not forget that one.
@@johnnyjohntheschemindreame9193 ~ YEP! Mine too!
I have found happiness, solace, and contentment for over 40 years listening to the old classics live, long may it continue, steve your a legend👍🤞
Jakko is in a state of constant pain and melancholy expressed through music
A beautiful and haunting song, especially the synth and 'Tron passage at the end. One of Genesis' more underrated songs IMHO.
Real Genesis fans have never underrated it..on the contrary..
No disrespect to the fine musicians gathered with Steve here, but remember Tony handled all those parts on his own. Famous, yet somehow criminally underrated, because his name rarely pops up when "best of" lists come out for keyboards.
@@stefanoquattrini196 thanks bro, you're absolutely right.
You sure it was Tron, I thought it sounded more like The Black Hole.
You turn on the radio and it's a flood of garbage! TV? Same shit! I'm VERY thankful to people like Steve who keeps the great art alive.
Kids... sit down, turn off your damned phones and start listening to a WHOLE record! That's how you learn!
I used to nod off listening to this...then I'd wake up but still entangled in my own dreams...
This song is a total masterpiece, all the musicians are so brilliant. This is heaven.
An absolutely amazing version of Entangled.
I saw Steve Hackett on his first solo-tour (guess it was 1979). He and the whole band was fantastic!
After more than 40 Years later he seems to be better than ever before.
He's a really fuckin' old guy! Unbelievable, still fantastic and very still alive!
This song always took me to a higher place. The lyrics and the guitar parts perfectly complementing each other to create a mesmerising and hypnotic trance
Oh my word the hairs standing up on my arms listening to this. We dont need pop songs. This is what Genesis fans really want.
I remember the 1st time I listened to A trick of the tail.
Me and my brother listened to it 2gether and when Phil started with the lead vocals parts it was like WTF???
Me too, I remember thinking this is now my favourite band.
Me to🥰
So do I :)
I got it for Christmas in 1977 and I've never stopped listening to it.
Steve Hackett: Was für ein wunderbarer Mensch! Hier stimmt einfach alles.
This is just like when I saw Steve Hacket at the Mod Club in Toronto. What I heard all night was music. It wasn't a collection of instruments and players. Half the time I couldn't detect the transition of lead from guitar to keyboard to clarinet if I had my eyes closed, just a sensation of seamless music.
Its one of the most beautifully haunting melodies i have ever heard must be played in Mass. Long life the 70 s Music and the greatest Musicians from all over the World .ive been to Heaven and back to Earth hearing this majestic musical treats ago Thanks Bravo Stephen Hackett. P.s love your book Genesis in my bed
So beautiful. That song is a favourite of mine and this version makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. Wonderful.
Sans doute un des plus beaux morceaux de musique de la part d un des plus grands groupes de pop. Une merveille à déguster sans modération.
On a cold winter day when snow is falling this song is a magic soundtrack for the world outside of the window....
This song takes you to another place…. so beautiful. Incredible
The hot summer of 1976 gave me Entangled. My lullaby ❤
I'm in prog rock Heaven right here...
I’m very glad this was a remnant from Acolyte and ended up a Genesis tune. What a tune to leave off an album.
Tears in my eyes
Me too. And not ashamed of it.
Steve is the best ! And has such great musicians to keep Genesis music alive and well !
And his lady friend on vocals is beautiful..(had to be noted ;). )
Thanks Steve, you keep alive the legend of this beautiful emotional music!!
Absolutely magnificent......one of the great pieces of music by a truly great composer. Thank you Steve for everything.

Enchantingly beautiful rendition of a gorgeous song.
Pure musical magic !!! Almost a supernatural sort of feeling envelops me each and every time I listen to it !!!

Noch so ein megaGEILES altes Lied von Genesis, das mich so sehr an Kindheit und Jugend erinnert. DAAAANKE Steve!
I have been lucky enough to have seen Steve on the last 5 CTTE 's ….Just amazing songs by an amazing artist ..Mr Steve Hackett, I bow to you...Master !!
Brilliant version of a brilliant song.
Magical, when I heard it first 40 years ago and it still is. Thank you Steve!
Thank goodness he found professional musicians , Genesis lovers to put this together. God bless all you fantastic artists that got Steve’s call so this tour happened. I am in a different state of mind when I see and listen to this. Back to my youth, in a different dimension, time, ORGASMIC. A big Thanks to Steve who never forgets to come to Montreal every yr.
"Madrigal Music is playing" says it all Pure Magic, Painting musical pictures
I was too young to see Genesis when they were a quartet so it was a delight to see Hackett a few years back doing a whole concert of Genesis tunes.
One of my favourite Albums
fabulous song, my first favourite Genesis song back in the seventies, wonderful............
I must say that all my life this song was with me. Just again discovered but it was always with me more then 40 years
Oh yes!!! Trick of the Tale!
Thanks for keeping the music alive. I’ve said many times, Genesis music will be listened to for as long as humans remain on the planet. Songs like this are timeless.

So soothing and Celestial ! Thanks for the post ! By keeping Genesis alive also you help us to continuing alive as well ! 👊
There are moments in life that we would like to forget and there is music like this. It stays in the heart forever.
The best among the best !!!
I was waiting for squonk to start right after. I love TOTT album. Great rendition thank you for post.
With Jon Anderson on Vocals :O)
lol right?
This is my favorite post PG Genesis album
El Mel, I felt just the same. ATOTT is my favorite Genesis-album.
One of the great Genesis tracks, elevated at the end by the incredible haunting keyboard, created by Mr Banks, who for me was the essential ingredient to one of the best bands to come out of the UK
All the old Genesis songs I loved over the years ....to find you , never knew of you....all are beautifully performed....I am singing along, can’t help myself.
so happy to have experienced this music!
One of the most beautiful songs ever written
Welcom to the another dimension of music
Welcome to music. PERIOD !
A masterpiece of the universe
What a wonderful rendition. Music this beautiful has to be kept alive! Love to see all the young talent on stage with Hackett doing justice to a classic…
There needs to be a Genesis Revisited / Big Big Train double bill. I would spend thousands to see and experience that!
This is pretty much perfect! Bravo to Steve and his amazing band for keeping true to the original work of art!
Beautiful!. I’d only ever heard Jakko singing b.vox with Level 42. This is a revelation. What a fantastic voice he has!.
You'd've loved King crimson then
Love Jakko's voice
that music..that music .... caresses your soul !!!💙
Omg...when the keys come in... shivers....
Simply amazing, as wonderful as the original
Outstanding. Superlative.
What a mesmerizing song. When I saw this live in 1976 in Philly we were all tripping. What a great show...
You don't need drugs with music this "Magical".
@@Yanto-Bardic Back then it was the thing to do and have to disagree....
@Mark I'm with you dude and always was buzzed when I saw Genesis and just made that much more intense of a show.. Here's to the good ol' days!!
🤓 what happened ??
did someone tie your shoelaces together ?
Absolutely stunningly beautiful performance!!
Love this track, also comes from a great Album, miss them days.
and always a strong emotion to listen to this song again ... thanks steve
Wonderful song, this will be played when I pass on. Loved this on Trick of the Tale, such a haunting song. Steve you really pulled this off again!
love how Steve plays with other artists not dismissing any one else that is in his band or who he plays with and is the most late back brilliant appreciative guitar guy on the planet
My ears want to hear Squonk kick in right when this fades out. A beautiful rendition of this classic Genesis song.
Es ist großartig. . . . Ich liebe Genesis seit den 70ern......Oft live gesehen...
j'adore !..MAGNIFIQUE ....
my dream Steve and Robert Fripp an Album just imagine
God
my God Fripp and Hackett MY gOD
An interesting pairing to speculate about. Fripp .. anarchy in a suit .. I don't know how Hackett would react.
"When you are asleep they may show you aerial views of the ground": the stuff of the British television series "The Prisoner," poetry can mean many things.
Oh how I miss those old Genesis concerts, great times.
capolavoro dei Genesis , adoro la parte finale
I think the reason this song resonates so well with the audiences is that it was formed from a tremendous amount of love that I don't think I'll be able to replicate.
this album has easily one of the greatest a-sides of all time...... I mean, I love the whole thing, but the first 4 tracks are nothing less than magic
Most beautiful song ever written covered brilliantly fantastic vocals I think Phil mike and Tony would be proud of that performance
When “a trick of the tale” appeared there was a lot of skepticism on the album due to the Peter Gabriel departure. However the result was amazing. It still retained the original Genesis flavor with wonderful pieces as this one.
I never heard of these people but they capture the essence of this music...I have loved these tunes for years...and to see them performed makes me well up inside....forget Phil Collins...sorry Phil.
Phil Collins sang the bloody song originally lol.
Bloody out of this world music, something that makes me want to dream and float in the universe.
