In 2016, Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin and Rick Wakeman brought together their incredible talents and long experience of working in Yes to take to the road for a series of concerts celebrating Yes’ musical legacy of the seventies, eighties and nineties. Yes featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin and Rick Wakeman toured first in North America and then brought their live show to the UK in early 2017, including this performance captured at the Manchester Apollo. The band are in superb form in front of a sell-out crowd who are clearly loving every minute of the show which includes classic tracks such as Roundabout, Owner Of A Lonely Heart, And You And I, Hold On, Heart Of The Sunrise, Rhythm Of Love, I’ve Seen All Good People and many more.

Yes all the the songs and tunes shown live here, are all from an age when not only could the bands read music, understood its measure and construction, and the fact that they can transpose, not just from key-to-key but instrument as well. Nor multiple dubbing and sampling we see today.
I know that my parents (c. 1930) bemoaned our age profile b. 1950 onward and compared to the music of their time, but as Roy Wood embarrassed my father in a discussion over the Parkinson Show (1970s) and Wood did a line by line transposition of a Bach Fugue (not the expected Toccatta and fugue of Roller Ball fame) but another and how that could be borrowed and transcribed in to another song. Also rationalise and compare the thinking behind Beethoven-v-Mozart and how the latter was very advanced comparing him again with Bach. Much to my father's surprise could right music to the Stave.
Just because in my father's initial sighting he was " long haired lay-about"; it took this interview to make my father realise that those writing and playing songs not just the 1960s but through to the early 1990s, could indeed play their instrument of choice but in various forms not just classical but jazz and "pop" of the day.
Note how the likes of McCartney, Lennon as the make up of The Beatles the "fab-four" could all read music from the Stave; even the likes of the groups "Bad Company"; Abba ELO (who were indeed all members of a full orchestra at one stage, before they became The Move, later ELO). Although people made an issue out of The Stones, all could play their instrument, not withstanding their drug issue, but in the literal sense nor did the Beatles come to the table with clean hands !
The likes of Pink Floyd, could all read music from the stave and playing live, really meant playing live.
Take away the micro-chip or the Sequencer-preprogrammed keyboard and the modern "band" are lost. More so since the advent of the chip and being able to replicate. Even Kraftwerk in the "new -music era" and keyboards, actually made a joke out of themselves by playing autobahn live, and then setting up the syhtheisers so that each band member, one by one could leave the stage and the tunes continue to play all by themselves by leaving them on continuous loop, until the stage was empty and people realised that they could be preprogrammed and actually no one need know how to play them, of course that was followed by sampling in the 1990s onward. Really from then on things went down hill and most modern pop music can't be written on a stave and take away the computer and they are lost.
May be this time, we really have come to the end of the genuine music composer?

Thank you for this long comment. I often compare music to gastronomy, people like to eat but they go to McDonald's, people like music but only listen to prefabricated music because it's easy and today there is no has more than money and profit that count. That being said, there are always great cooks and great musicians and fortunately. Today it is just more difficult to find them, to discover them. You have to be even more curious than before. Thank you for mentioning ELO, I love them in my French region, just as I love Cheap Trick or other treasures.@@christopherrichards18

Have had the pleasure of meeting Rick Wakeman on a couple of occasions the first one being in the foyer of Lantern Radio studios in Bideford (hiis son Oliver was working there at the time) and I had gone there to guest on a programme (not Oliver's).
The 2nd time was at The Millstone pub near Warrington (this pub was Pete Waterman's "local") we were enjoying a quiet pint when suddenly the room was filled with this amazing organ music.....coming from the back of the pub. Stunned and enthralled we listened in silence until the barman said "....know who that is?" Before we had chance to reply he said "it's Rick Wakeman he's rehearsing for a gig in Woolston!"
Imagine the surprise when sure enough 30 or so minutes later the door opened and in walked Rick.... he recognised Pete and a chat lasting a fair while followed!
    What a fabulous guy!

I saw this show in Boston, with this full band! It was precious! THERE WERE 2 YES'S on tour under the name of "YES"! Like WOW! I was with my high school friend Jeff for "MY" Yes show,, and then, very similar to the YES show in Boston, w/A FULL big band... Just Jon and Rick in Albany NY, Without the full band effect on me as the show in Boston! Just Rick and Jon...
It was SO fun and a snowstorm that night... Making our row 10 seats become row 2 for lack of people!!! Almost to the front center but the remaining people just realized and rushed to the stage... I ended up in row 3, slightly to the right of the center.
Rick began telling funny, "dirty" stories between the excellent music! It was a night to remember! Much snow to walk thru back to the hotel... Jon and his wife were 2 floors above my room... I had the front desk Dial his room then I quickly hung up thinking I was the last thing Jon needed after his show, so I hung up before he could answer... I did finally personally meet Jon personally, 2X some months later, It was like we were old friends... He read me like a book! Such a fun and wise soul! He met me 2 times in 3 weeks with the Anderson Ponty Band and I had front center for 2 performances. One in Boston and another in western MA... Me and my Girl and I hung out with the band At that 2nd Show for a good 2 hours! But not with Jon. It was Jean Luc Ponty's band that we chilled with because I was friends With Jamie Glasser who is the guitarist in Jean Luc Ponty's band who was working this tour with Yes's Jon Anderson...
But to recap, Jon and Rick Wakeman, I was like in the 3rd row, slightly to the right of center stage...(And again, this is in Albany NY) So Rick told funny (Dirty) stories constantly! Everyone loved it! Jon Played the innocent, embarrassed bystander!!! It was all SO brilliantly played!
So MUCH better than the far right 10th row! YAY! (OMG so cool!)
RICK Wakman was the hit of that show with lots of his "Dirty" stories! Everyone Loved him for not just his musical prowess but for his dirty comedy too! He's SO
Very intimate with his fans to say the least!
I just love these guys,.... dating back to shows starting (For me) in 1972... I finally connected with Jon Anderson at 2 shows and at our hotel. He was (probably) just hitting his pillow when I called his room,... I Suddenly hung up realizing the late hour but watched him leaving in the am, opting to not bother him via the wisdom of my former lady love's recommendation. I did wave hello.
    MAN SMART... WOMAN Smarter!

Listened and viewed this hundreds of time. It's probably the most COMPLETE rock performance ever. The amazing Rick Wakeman and Trevor Rabin totally in sync, with the other band members, lovin it. And the audience appreciated the close contact walkabout I am sure. Totally incredible but it happened so you have to believe it.

Oh my god, that stack with keyboards, that's huge. Great song, Jon sounds spot on, still, mind-blowing. I have a full playlist with only live performs, and what I notice, is the fact, they enjoy every second of it. Cool tunes.

Le temps est le maître absolu, quand les musiciens sont guidés par la technique,et pas seulement par la passion, quel régal. Comment Jon Anderson, peut-il encore chanter comme ça? C’est une voix, et un cadeau.
