    I worked at Amazon as business analyst, it's a great place to work if you are ready to hustle and put in the hours. Everyone I worked with was super bright and driven and the scope and scale of the things you'll work on is massive. The work life balance (as reported a ton in the media) is not very good and I wouldn't recommend it as a place to work if you have a lot of obligations at home or outside of your job.

    Financial analyst is very broad title. 3 major routes would be accounting, fp&a, investments. These are 3 different fields and my advice is to pick 1 and then gain experience/certification/skills in it. You will notice how one company wants you to do GL recon as a financial analyst while other want you to do market research for an index as a financial analyst. Then always watch carefully at the duties listed to make sure you and employer are on the same page with what financial analyst do in their firm. You can not beleive how many times they actually want an accountant instead of financial analyst.

    • @365FinancialAnalyst
      @365FinancialAnalyst  Pƙed 4 lety +6

      Hello,
      This is definitely one of the most discussed topics in Big 4 companies. I myself have worked for Pwc (in their financial advisory unit), and can relate. The hours are long and the pay is lower, which isn't a good combination. However, in the first few years Big 4 companies are a great school and can be really great for you to learn finance and accounting. Having said that, CFA is definitely a great way to impress employers, but it takes a long time to complete and will worsen your work-life balance in the meantime. My suggestion is to fix your resume and start applying as soon as you feel like you are ready for the next job (may be after 18 or 24 months). And also, consider taking CFA level 1 to show employers you are capable.

    So does a person with masters degree in business or finance get any benefits like a higher salary or possibly a more prominent career over the one with bachelors degree. Or does the higher degree only help you to get the job?

    I had a really rough start in life, but now that im definately not going to be homeless again and well on my way to retiring before im 60. My dream is to make a career out off helping the average person to do the same.

      @@steveea6744 not to much to tell.
      Moved countries when i was 19 stayed with my gf till we broke up and wasnt making enough to cover rent so was pretty much couch surfing for about 4yrs till i got my new job last year as a forklift driver making $51 an hr on nightshift. Now im looking at buying my first home this month , planned out my repayments and living expenses to be able to buy a second home in 1.5-2 years and then hoping it multiplys from there. Looking at a career path so i dont need to work ungodly hours and could start something from home maybe.

    There’s a CZcamsr called investing with Henry who said that when he worked at Goldman Sachs all he did was cold call potential investors like celebrities and hardly ever did the analysis part of financial analyst. Is that normal for the position? I don’t think I’d like to be cold calling.
