    Financial analyst is very broad title. 3 major routes would be accounting, fp&a, investments. These are 3 different fields and my advice is to pick 1 and then gain experience/certification/skills in it. You will notice how one company wants you to do GL recon as a financial analyst while other want you to do market research for an index as a financial analyst. Then always watch carefully at the duties listed to make sure you and employer are on the same page with what financial analyst do in their firm. You can not beleive how many times they actually want an accountant instead of financial analyst.

    I worked at Amazon as business analyst, it's a great place to work if you are ready to hustle and put in the hours. Everyone I worked with was super bright and driven and the scope and scale of the things you'll work on is massive. The work life balance (as reported a ton in the media) is not very good and I wouldn't recommend it as a place to work if you have a lot of obligations at home or outside of your job.

    Hi! What do you think about life/work balance??? I just got a job in a big four in audit, but I really hate the hours worked vs money made and the lack of personal life.
    Can I get a CFA in order to get a more balanced kind of job???

    • @365FinancialAnalyst
      @365FinancialAnalyst  Před 4 lety +6

      Hello,
      This is definitely one of the most discussed topics in Big 4 companies. I myself have worked for Pwc (in their financial advisory unit), and can relate. The hours are long and the pay is lower, which isn't a good combination. However, in the first few years Big 4 companies are a great school and can be really great for you to learn finance and accounting. Having said that, CFA is definitely a great way to impress employers, but it takes a long time to complete and will worsen your work-life balance in the meantime. My suggestion is to fix your resume and start applying as soon as you feel like you are ready for the next job (may be after 18 or 24 months). And also, consider taking CFA level 1 to show employers you are capable.

      It depends on what you learned from your experience. Being consultant it means you will guide and give advices to other companies so you should ask yourself about what you could give to them by what you learned. I recommend you as I recommend myself to keep working if you are an accountant try to be an auditor and work in different tasks so you can be flexible in your field

      Hello,
      The financial analyst course provides accounting, finance, and powerpoint training in addition to Excel. So, I'd say yes.

    So I’m in college and I’m studying accounting and finance. I’m looking to getting into auditing and doing the acca. But i kinda want to get into banking instead ? Would you recommend cfa or acca ?

    • @365FinancialAnalyst

      Hey there! Thanks for reaching out. If you want to do banking, CFA is a much better option. ACCA would be a good fit for audit and accounting. Good luck!

      A financial analyst has many different definitions. If you get hired to the M&A division of an investment bank, you start off as an Analyst (then Associate, VP, Director, Managing Director usually), but a financial analyst in the research division of the same investment bank can be a very senior guy. And this is even within the same company, not even mentioning other sectors! I understand if it can be confusing, which is also why this CZcams video didn’t make much sense without proper definitions.

      No. He means that the average has 4 years of working experience prior to becoming a financial analyst. I’m majoring in financial analysis and I only have a few more semesters left. I will get my first internship soon. I only have 3 years of work experience at a production plant and at the post office

    Hello 365 Careers, I have a BS in physics and I wish to switch fields to financial analysis. I virtually have no theoretical knowledge in finance or anything business related. Is it possible to learn the basic knowledge and skills using online resources or do I have to go back to school and get a BS in something business related? Any ideas how I could get started?
    Thank you for the informative video.

      @krismine99 Před 3 lety

      I think it's possible to learn the basics through online and print resources. I'm not a professional, but just graduated, and it seems that if they can teach online courses the way they did at my school, then you should be able to learn it that way. Will people accept it as equivalent to a degree? Probably not. It does seem that many of the entry level jobs have a lot of education on-site, if that helps
