    Ordered mine a couple days ago and can't wait to get it. Was hoping as you increased the intensity levels the graph would turn red..

    I remember there was an early TNG novel (or was it the tech manual?) that went into how you're supposed to aim these and why they're supposedly more accurate than a gun-type phaser. You're supposed to point your thumb at the target, not press down on the button with it. So I guess that means you'd actually press the button with like the underside of your thumb knuckle (does that have a name?) while keeping the tip of your thumb pointed at the target. This supposedly keeps your aim true.

    Why don’t they make TOS stuff?

    This is my favorite model of phaser in all of Star Trek and have dreamed of having one since i was a kid. However I'm not certain I'm willing $500+ for this particular piece because i see too many inconsistencies with it.
    First off, the Dustbuster should actually have 10 stun setting levels, not 8. FE's version of the model has eight. It loses points for that. Second thing, another person who bought this complained that the lights on the stun setting indicator are way too bright. Third thing, what bothers me the most about the FE version of this phaser is that the body of the phaser seems to have a slight beige color. From what I've seen even the gray body of screen-used prop doesn't have that color to it and has me wondering did FE really do their homework when making this phaser?
    Last thing, I could justify a $500+ price tag if the color was accurate AND the buttons were too. By this i mean the two intensity buttons shouldn't be that dark a tan color and the screen-used prop used stickers. If you watch the episode "The Arsenal of Freedom" there's a close-up shot of Data's phaser that even showed it was a sticker.
    Sorry but if FE wants $500+ out of me, I'm going to need them to make these corrections, THEN I'll order one because the only thing it has going for it is that i like the S1 & S2 hybrid emitter not covering the whole front end of the phaser but still until FE improves this model i can just get a more accurate Stapleton kit for $100+. Sorry if this was a long read.

      I appreciate the comment. I can't say i disagree with you BUT you gotta take into consideration that they take a lot of things to combine to produce a replica that looks like this. It's NEVER going to be 100% accurate cause they changed all the time during the production of the show. You can point out one episode that it looks one way and i can point out another that it looked different. It also depending on lighting. Hell, the uniforms look different from one to another. When you look at the actual costumes, they look different colors than what were on screen. Which also has to do with the resolution of tvs back in the 80s and 90s.
      You also finally have to take into consideration that this IS a licensed piece. The $500 includes the fee that they have to pay to Paramount, which isn't cheap. Anyone can make one that is going to be "cheaper" but it won't be an officially licensed piece. That brings me to my final point...Paramount/CBS has the final say. If they didn't like it, they wouldn't have approved it.

    I don't know why, but it looks off to me. Like a toy version, not a replica. I'm not sure if it's the materials or the color. But something is off.

      @@adamsmith4787 Look, I'm just going to say it, the light blue starship models look stupid. I don't care if it's more accurate to the prop. I care about what it looked like on screen. Nobody is releasing green TOS uniforms, why? Because they were yellow on screen. And just to piss everyone else off - Han's coat is blue.

      @@adamsmith4787 Agreed. It’s a few shades too light. It really effects the look of the prop. I still love mine, though, and am happy to have it.

      @@ClunkerSlimYou're not alone in noticing things are "off" with this model.
      My problem with FE's version of this model is that the color of the body is off as someone else in this thread already mentioned. Also there should be 10 stun settings, not 8. Lastly, I could justify them thinking this is worth $500 if there was a sticker where the intensity indicator and buttons were. Even in the episode "The Arsenal of Freedom" Data's phaser showed it was a sticker. Oh, and it doesn't help it's cause that the intensity meter lights are too bright.
      I love this phaser but these people can't be serious charging $500 for something not even entirely show accurate. You're better off getting a Stapleton kit for just over $100.

      @@vegasflybyI always thought it looks too beige. The blue of the backdrop in this video really brings out the sand color. Having yours in person does your model look like this to you?
      Plus the color of the body is not even the only thing I see off with it!

      @@optibotimus Trek was born in early 1960s , and larger studio sabotaged it's early run toward the end , noticeable shortage of advertising promos compared to other new Shows of same era , and virtually no merch , odd when you compare it to other shows of that time period , like Outer Limits and The Twilight Zone , , , the Federation is peacekeeping the galaxies and making new alliances - I'm not certain why advertisers and merchandisers had such colossal hard time understanding and embracing that concept 🤔 now in 1977 StarWars was born , that same year I was born ,😸 concept of StarWars is summarized like this "Good Rebel Alliance constantly fights the Evil EMPIRE" Jedi and Storm Troopers are both merely PAWNS in this endless "Good VS Evil" futile fight , , ,but StarWars was more understandable by greedy advertisers and merchandisers, very simplified similar to "Cowboys vs Indians" that farmer Bob simpleness is what gave StarWars it's wide appeal to not very bright folks - it's Definitely action Pew Pew Pew ! ! in contrast StarTrek is very intellectual a truly "thinking persons" Sci-Fi , , probably why I'm a dedicated*"TREK-above all fan"" , , ,I love the TNG era Trek shows of the 1990s and truly believe Roddenberry's vision for the 24th century could be very close to that provided us humans don't annihilate ourselves before then 🔥🤪👍👍👍

      @hiltonlive32grnrngr Před 8 měsíci +1

      Because it's quite beautiful, for one thing. The Dustbuster is actually my favorite model of phaser in the whole Star Trek franchise. I still resent that this model was only seen in TNG's first two seasons because I always preferred this model over the more boxy design of the Cobrahead from the other 5 seasons. The Cobrahead actually grew on me over the years but you just can't go wrong with the beautiful shape and curviness of the Dustbuster. Definitely should've been in more than just the first two seasons.
