Imagine waking up one morning and finding out that the country you live in is under a state of emergency, that a curfew has been imposed, and that armed gangs are roaming the streets.
Scary right?
Well, that was the experience of millions of Ecuadorians on January 11, 2024, when a notorious gang leader vanished from his prison cell and unleashed a wave of violence across the nation.
His name is Adolfo Macías Villamar, or Fito, as he likes to be called. He is the leader of Los Choneros, a powerful criminal organization with ties to the Mexican Sinaloa cartel.
But unlike the infamous leader of the Sinaloa, El Chapo Guzmán who pulled off several prison breaks through sophisticated tunnels dug under his prison cell, Adolfo Macías on the other hand, just vanished from his cell leaving the Ecuadorian authorities with more questions than answers.
But how in the world did this guy manage to pull this off? Was it an inside job or did he just grow wings overnight?

It's very hard to find ppl that aren't corrupt especially if a country is impoverished . it needs another prison w better securities& just the most severe criminal separated & introduce the death penalty ..just a thought

Not easy. Mexican cartels got billions flowing daily unlike Ecuador. Actually running vast territory almost the entire country. That will require occupying the entire country costing trillions. And God knows what can entail. It’s still sad about the killings. But Ecuador has improved deploying the entire army and available resources. Also the amount of drugs consumed in US and found in the drainage systems is mind blowing. Affecting progenies generation after generation. It’s like being possessed
