Today we're "reviewing" the GameMAX "Hype," which DEFINITELY ISN'T inspired by a Hyte Y60. The Hype case is anywhere from $100 to $200, depending on where and when you look, and has poorly copied nearly every aspect of the Hyte Y60. We haven't seen a ripoff this egregious previously, and that's because even the product page has literal copied & pasted text from real Hyte's product pages. This is part of our new case testing methodology that we debuted for 2024. You can learn some basics in our Fractal North XL review below.
We previously reviewed & benchmarked the Hyte Y60 here: • Impressive Quality: Hy... -- comparatively, it seems as if the Hype is a step beyond a Hyte clone.

I really like that you made this video, even if it isn't the most entertaining because of the subject matter. Gamemax is a chinese brand known for doing exactly this. When I built my computer back after Covid started in 2020 I wanted to get the InWin 805 Infinity. But there was two reasons I didn't like it. It's a Mid tower and I wanted a mATX case, just because computers are getting smaller, and I wanted a smaller computer. I also liked the idea of a case with the hinge on the glass side panel so I can open it and work on it and close it easily. So with those in mind, Amazon recommended my GameMax's Mini Abyss. I didn't know it was a ripoff at the time, and it's build pretty well compaired to some of the other cases I'd gotten in this price range.
On their website there is a few lies and false marketing. I don't know if this stuff was just lost in translation, or if it's because something changed. But regardless, the mirror effect they have in the front uses a micro JST connect, 3 pin. So basically it's just as bad or worse than the GPU fan connectors that like to have the wires broke because people don't push them out correctly. But the front panel one in wedged in a spot you can only ever pull on the wire to remove it.
Thank you if you've read through this far. And thank you GN for making this video and exposing Gamemax. Maybe it will change our market here in the west a little. But with how china dominant it has become, I am doubtful. But at least all of us now know about the brand and to stay away from them unless you like piracy. Then be our guest.

In fact, after the Sheriffs asked him to give them a quick synopsis of the story and had concluded that it was too similar to the film, "Frequency," the Fire dept. shows up and he turns to them, pleading. The Sheriffs interject and says, "...just listen his plot," to which the Fire dept. Concludes, "Oh, it's like the film, Frequency!" And ultimately also decide against rescuing his work lol.

I actually have a typhoon gamemax case.... It's not bad. They definitely cheap out with the 3.5 HD bay using one where the 2 HD bay I have is literally a single bay while the second HD sits on the top of the bay while the screws hold the drive by screwing through the bay into the holes on the bottom of the 3.5 HD. I can't comment on their other cases, but it's pretty nice. The one time breakaway PCIe stuff is annoying as I broke away one that I wasn't supposed to, but I just bought some extra PCIe mesh covers to cover the hole I had. Another gripe is the LCD strip on the front has a built in controller and has no way to plug into an ARGB plug to be controlled by the motherboard, but it is what it is. The fans included are also 3 pin fans so they're not great, but they work. I do think the COC motherboard fan is a bit of a gimmick, but I don't overclock so I can't really say for sure. Again it's not in any way the best case, but it works pretty well for a budget case that I got for like 50$-60$
Edit: I'm curious if the one I have is a ripoff of another well known case... I'm not really familiar with cases. If it's not I'd be interested in seeing what y'all thought about it. Again I wouldn't call it a first choice case, but I think for a budget case it's good enough and actually has functioned pretty well for me.
I'll also add one other gripe I have is a lack of mesh screens on the front, which I bought some magnetic fan covers that fit over it well enough, but it would've been much nicer if it actually came with a proper filter cover to prevent dust from getting in easily as the holes in the front are definitely big enough for dust to get through.
Edit 2: One other thing to add... The audio ports on the front are definitely low quality... I noticed crackling noises when I used them initially so I just use the one in the back for the most part.

I have the Gamemax Draco XD (that's the name). I got it when i built my first PC, the main reasons being:
    - I didn't have a job in 2020.
    - It was cheaper, since cases and any pc parts in the southest part of latin america (where i live obv), were more expensive due to the pandemic, and adding that the prices were (and are) very high because of transport and customs fees.
For a lot of context, i built my pc with a 9th gen i5, 16 GB of RAM, and a Gigabyte MoBo for ~$200-$250 at the beginning of the pandemic.
Let's say any good brand of cases:
It costed about 3-4 times as much as this case(~$30), while i had very very very limited budget (was 17 and very lazy).
The case is not great, but it did a good job for my first system.
Now I will have to update to a well-known, well-trusted brand now that i have a more "air" hungry system.

Once news media no longer has a reason to cover Trump in their daily reporting, those that suffer from the TDS will feel an overwhelming emptiness in their hearts and minds. I snatched a gamdias aura gc2 elite case for 37 euros. The case is perfectly designed for airflow, and the only thing to note is that the fans are rubbish. But that is easily fixable, since the arctic P12 5x pack is around 32 euros. For the price of 69 euros I got myself a damn nice case with best quality fans on the market. That is a killer combo, a copy done right imo.

As somone from a (China adjacent) country, I'll throw my two cents into the mix for some consideration.
Proper channel imports aren't really a thing here. Sure you'll find a limited selection of hardware funneled through legit "big" name brands that operate locally, but the selection is quite meek to say the least.
Stuff like Hyte, Fractal, etc. isn't something you'll find all to easily down here..and though a lot of stuff does end up on the shelves via questionable import practices, non-mainstream items don't make the cut cus the buyers would be few and far in-between.
This is where these cases come into play. A larger chunk of potential buyers are actually just looking for the that-trendy-aesthetic they see making the rounds on tech channels, and that alone is often, surprisingly good enough.
Needless to say, being China-adjascent means that items from there are presumably subject to more favorable import regulations, not to mention the shipping costs are drastically lesser than the haul to markets elsewhere.
Just like that these items land down here, subsidized to an extent..with favorable odds of being sold once you combine it with the dearth of other more viable purchase options for the avg buyer.
    Yes i know this is a wall of text, I'm sorry. I'll leave you with an example as the outro;

So the one thing I could say for the removeable base is could you use that for running cables or tubes(for water cooling not sure i would want to though in that case), though the danger of breaking/cutting a cooling line could be an issue the water/cooling would leak into the false bottom area compared to the interior case area. Like I could see even having a false top that you could run cables thru an drop down to where they need to be. This could help to keep the case interior less cluttered an help airflow maybe keeping the cabling/tubing to a minimum in the visible interior. Not saying the case is good, but looking at it maybe there is some useful ideas even if accidental in there that could be used.

But what actually got me to be "okay then they're actually decent" was another brazillian channel that actually does have PSU testing equipment and they recently launched a quality seal program, and they tested the PSUs and they actualyl came out as decent, not the best but decent, and I was sincerely amazed that it was the case.

i may have missed part of the video that says what i have but i think the reason they do this is to try and profit off of people who cannot afford the on brand equipment but still want it. when i was hunting for a case i was going to go for the gamemax vista before the nzxt h6 flow went on sale. their cases (well at least the hype) dont seem to be of the highest quality but i can attest to their psus being amazing. i bought the rgb 850 for 40 quid and only had 2 problems that were entirely my fault (exploded twice. static does indeed exist, dont build computers on your beds please)

After a couple of years it finally has some additional competition (The ASUS Prime-AP201 would have been a much better choice for me had it been available at the time), but it was a decent little performer that I wish they iterated upon with a ventilated front panel, rather than the wierd redesign they did with the E3.

I have this case... It is marketed as "Dragos North" in Turkey. I got it for 100$ and it came with a single exhaust fan. After adding 5 arttic p12s and one id cooling fan it ended up costing around 140$. I must say for that price I ended up with a case that looks very good and is quiet too. With that many fans I don't need to run them at high rpms and my pc never even gets close to thermal throttling, stress testing included. Granted I am not running the most power hungry components but with a 6800xt and an overclocked 5700x it's not a low end pc by no means. Full size pci-e slots are actually very good because I can mount the gpu horizontally and feed it fresh air with 3 bottom intake fans.
Now, I am not very experienced with this stuff so I might be missing something but, I don't at all understand why you were so negative about the ventilation of this case. What's wrong with magnetically attached mesh dust filters? I thought they were just the ideal type and, the one that is "impossible to fit properly" fits just fine if you move it a bit. Ventilation on the side panel also seems very good, just a no nonsense single layer of metal mesh.
Everything else you complained about the case also seems just fine to me. It has captive screws where it needs them the most, has a lot of room to stuff the cables in where they are not visible therefore it is much easier to build in compare to all the other cases I've worked with, the standoffs for the glass panels are not the most elegant but they, again, are just fine. The front io isn't the best but one less usb port has never killed anyone in the last 100 years. The warp in the top cover is dissappointing but unnoticable when installed. The gap between glass panels could easily be smaller but still looks intentional the way it is and doesn't look bad. The same goes for the "misaligned metal". In fact, where even are they? Yes the top and bottom covers are smaller than the footprint of the case but it looks almost entirely intentional and is done in a uniform way. Can you really call that misaligned or is it just a design element that you chose to dislike?
I think you ended up feeling very negatively about the case because of the high price and shady marketing. In the end I don't at all agree that this would be a bad case for 80$-100$. Add 35 dollars to that price for a 5 set of arttic p12 fans and you got yourself a very uniquely beautiful looking case for way under the price of hyte y60, all the while performing well enough for most people. Isn't that what you have praised about hyte y60? I just don't understand how this case can be so bad for 80-100 dollars while y60 is the best case of the year for 200$.
Again, my case+fans cost me 140 dollars and it probably performs better than most aircooled y60 setups while having an extremely similar look. A saving of 60 dollars is very significant. In fact, 70 dollars was the price difference between a 5600 and 5700x when I got my cpu.

@gamersnexus Hi, I wonder if you could review Armaggeddon Tessaraxx Corevision MATX PC case. This has an 8 inch screen that can mount on the front panel or the side panel.
Anyway, great to see you review PC case again. Hope to hear more reviews on not just standard case, but quirky or bizarre case as well, like the mini PC case with front panel shape like a cat's face. I wonder if it is still around.

I listened to an interesting podcast about these factories that specialises in counterfitting and fast fashion. The main company mentioned was shein. With their algorithms and trend analysis they can in an extremely short space of time mobilise factories to produce fakes or close to original products at scale. It is insane. So the effort put into more complex products is no surprise, as long as the baseline amount of people buy them. Unfortunately I can't remember if it was freakonomics or some other investigative podcast like like that.......

My comment keeps getting shadow deleted for some reason. I bought one of their PSU's (RGB-850 Pro). It came with a card saying to email your thoughts to them to get a free RGB mouse pad. Then they reply with the real deal. They will send the RGB mouse pad if after you post a 5 star Amazon review with at least one pic in your review. And reply to them with a screenshot of the review posted... Gee wonder why it has a 4.5 rating on Amazon with over 7k reviews and so many have photos. The PSU was awful. As soon I upgraded from my RTX 1080, to my 3080 it would blast the fan max when I launched any half way demanding game within ~10 seconds. Had random display driver crashes etc. Tried to use the "24 month full refund" warranty. They first required me to record a video and post it on YT and send the link. Then wanted me to pay shipping etc. So I said f it and accepted the risk I took buying this brand. Bought a Super Flower Leadex V Gold Pro 850W. All those problems went away, and it's whisper quiet. Including after recently upgrading from a 8700K to 7800X3D.

Can you test the Jonsbo TK-1 V2 Micro ATX case? I've been trying to downsize my computer without losing out on the 4 ram slots. I have 128gb ram as I use a lot of CAD programs and I tend to ramdisk them or better throughput. I've been looking at this case for a while, but I've never seen a person review it. I've seen a few ASMR builds, but again they don't go into thermals, what's compatible and what isn't, etc. I've read the reviews, but I'd like to see your new testing methodology try it out. I've considered a lot of the cases in the smaller end that you tend to review, but I like the look of this case.

    1. Some of their workers had 10 years of experience while others 15.
    2. They say that Usb 3.0 is supposed to be 5 Gbps but their implementation equals to 0.5 Gbps thus they have it 20 times faster with Usb Type-C.
So as you can see it all makes sense, you just have to think different.

@GamersNexus Ok, here is something funny about the comparisons at the start. At least in my knowledge, good amount of the similarities you point out with big brands (not specifically ones in the video, saying this in general) are actually the other way around. I've seen a lot of case designs with small brands only to see the same design branded with Corsair, Thermaltake and some other big ones I can't specifically remember right now, later on. It's been a while since I was last roaming around web to see interesting case designs on sale. This video was an informal and a fun one. But if you are interested in researching it further, I'd recommend to check out smaller brands or initiatives (sometimes even kickstarter campaigns) and their designs.
