    I used Gouache for a long time and the main reasons are it offers the best from both watercolor and acrylic. it can be transparent or opaque and can be applied on colored papers, cardboards or even canvas. Watercolor is limited to white papers only and if you applied too much it could make the colors burn while acrylics are permanent so make sure you maximized your pallet before storing them. A fixative substance can be applied if you want your Gouache painting to be permanent.

    You can add glycerin to acrylic paints if you don't want them to dry quickly on your paper or canvas. However if you're too adapted to acrylic paints like me, when the drying time changes, you're more prone to making mistakes. You may mix colors on canvas when you're thinking you're adding a new layer. So be careful. 😉

    I highly recommend using an acrylic medium instead of water! The acrylic paint acts like liquid plastic (sets after about 10 minutes and can't be reactivated) and the water breaks apart the molecules instead of actually working with the paint. Using a thinning medium meant for acrylic will do the same as water but without ruining your painting's quality in the long run!

    I suck at water colors. When I paint at one place then all appears to have appeared with different strokes. Going here and there. Sometimes, I mix much water, or sometimes much color. It seems to destroy everything I try to create.
    Also, the paint doesn't blend that easily that they say on paper. This is rather hard.

    Never heard of Gouache before.. So if it can be reactivated after its dry, does that mean to protect it once you are completely finished it needs put in a picture frame or something so that it doesn't accidentally get reactivated & ruined?

    • @Jade.n.
      @Jade.n. Před 3 lety +1

      It re-activates really really easily, so yeah, definitely store or display it with that in mind. Also Gouache is generally not the best medium if you want something that is lightfast. But I love working with it, it's really fun! You can't do the same things with it as watercolor or acrylic though
