  • Here’s a video on how to replace the rear door lock actuator on the W163 Mercedes Benz ML 320, 350, 430, 500, & 270 CDI mine is an 03 ML 350 Inspiration Package, but this will work for any ML from 1998-2005. I found that other videos weren’t very helpful and most didn’t even show the actuator coming out.

You are correct. Not many videos on replacing this. I have watched this video several times.

Elian, That is an excellent video! Thanks. I've done 3 actuators now and I learned something new about that internal bracket from you. Also it's great you actually showed how to do it instead of just being a talking head. You also did it in less than 10 mins. so you didn't waste my time. Great!

Why do you take the door handle out? Is it connected to the actuator? the Airbag is extremely hard to get it out you can relieve the Actuator cable by just removing two top rebaits..

Yes the actuator is connected to the door handle, and if you have drill bits designed to be used on metal Its extremely simple to drill out the rivets , maybe 10 seconds each rivet , and with a rivet gun it takes maybe 3 seconds each to rivet it back on. I removed it to get the whole actuator out not just the cables

Thanks for the video. I have an 03 ML350 driver's side actuators making noise and is failing to lock. What are the possibilities of getting WD-40 into that actuator to get it to work. Thanks for any help.

0 chance it’s gonna work with wd40. Just replace the actuator , pretty simple job at long as you remove the airbag it’s pretty straight forward, only special tool you’ll need is the riveter and you can get one at harbor freight for $5
