Come to the Sewing For Pleasure Show 2024 with So What If I Sew &

- So it’s a bit of a different vlog this week! Yesterday myself and Sam @sequingirlie (my podcast partner in crime) headed to the Sewing for Pleasure Show at the NEC in Birmingham to walk the My Handmade Wardrobe catwalk and generally have a little nose around. (For transparency; our tickets were free because we were invited to be on the catwalk which is standard, they weren’t specifically gifted)

Just caught up on your vlog as I was at Sam's online sewcial yesterday. Thank you so much for the lovely shout outs. It was such fun catching up on Saturday, and fantastic to have some time with you, Sam and Sam. You’re right, Birmingham is easier than London for me, and actually if you have been to the Show previously there’s a discounted offer on the tickets next time round. Car parking is cheaper if you book in advance too. When I drove up on Friday, I honestly thought I was going to drive straight through the entire complex and out the other side without finding the right car park! It was a totally different experience on Friday and Saturday, and both days were great. I liked having time to reflect on what I'd seen on Friday before buying on Saturday.
And yes, sewing friends are the best but we are also shocking enablers when it comes to buying fabric! Xx
Totally agree with the fabric experience, I definitely only bought fabric because I got to stroke and feel it! “ love at first touch “

It’s good to get your opinion on the sewing for pleasure show. This one is the most accessible for me and I too love the mixture of other crafts. Harrogate is lovely as the building and town are so pretty. One day I’ll get to ally pally. Have not gone this year as I have no more space for fabric. Makes only coming from stash fabric this year! It would be obscene for me to buy anymore 😆. Look forward to seeing your makes
We did both shows last year and agree the nec is much more relaxed. We couldn't get near the rosenburg stand at the stitch festival. Its just a shame there wasn't more of the indi pattern companies there. It was lovely to see you on the catwalk and meet you in person after. Beautiful new fabrics 😊
Totally agree! I really want a mix, there are so many good pattern brands at Stitch but so few fabrics companies and nowhere near enough space to look at the ones that are there, and visa versa at NEC! Thank you for watching ❤️

I was at the show on Friday. I really enjoyed it, I thought it was much improved from previous years. I went on the train so avoided the car parks. I loved the catwalk and it was a great day. Love your yellow dress and your fabrics.

Lovely vlog as always and congratulations on all you do for endometriosis awareness. If you have some spare fabric why not make waist ties for your yellow dress? I find that can be an easy fix and gives a bit of ‘after dinner flexibility’ x
