Thanks a lot! I guess I would never found the issue without this. I had the very same defect. Replaced it with a screw terminal as you have done and the fan is working again! Car started to be a sauna on wheels, but thanks to you, not anymore.
The blower on my 2014 Peugeot 2008 was intermittent and may come back alive again by just jiggling that faulty connector block. Suspected it was melted inside as couldn’t disconnect without snipping the wires. Replaced it with a generic electric wire connector block and it works fine - common fault for many Peugeots including 208 and 2008.
This is great info but I have a question. Did you have to disconnect the battery before cutting the wires and adding the terminal block (and is a 15v block ok?).

What types and power of terminal and socket have you used to replace it ?
