Hes an actor.... the rock is just a celebrity..
Amen
Exactly

Hard agree
I agree. You can watch him in a role and see him as the character. The Rock on the other hand…. It’s just the Rock in the movie. lol. I have been impressed by Bautista. I look forward to seeing him in more roles.
Dave Bautista is the best wrestler-turned actor of his generation. While no disrespect to John Cena, who is very charismatic, and Dwayne Johnson, whom I admittedly only like in Pain & Gain, Bautista is so humble and seems to take his craft the most seriously.
I hope he and Denis collaborate even more in the future, because the auteur Villeneuve clearly knows how to elevate his skills better than any other director.
Agreed. And they actually have collaborated for 3 movies now. Blade Runner 2049, Dune 1 and now Dune 2.
I 100% agree with this comment.
I do love how seriously Bautista takes his acting passion. He clearly wants quality roles where he can really show what he’s made of. I love the guy for it.
Just want to say i think John Cena is really good in Peacemaker
Spot on with the pain & gain comment
Bautista deserves to be taken as seriously as he takes his craft.
he's so good! whenever you see him, you don't simply expect some schtick or characature.. he truly elevates his roles with a professional and serious interpretation. Love him!
He was superb in bladerunner 2049, and of course in dune as well. He clearly cares about his work and he disappears into a role in the way the rock and john cena simply cannot
This interview radiates with Dave Bautista’s empathetic energy. You can tell he’s been hurt from being typecast as a dumb muscular guy, and that Dennis V’s continued support is something that emotionally resonated with him on a professional and human level, and he’s expressing his gratitude in such a humble and honest way.
He’s not trying to spin anything here, he’s just saying how happy he is to be positively affirmed as a good actor.
I think he was already hurt by thinking about end of his wrestling and not knowing what to do next or even if he'll be able to act or not. I think I learned that in a different interview. Probably the money was less and he got the Drax role.
I think that's why he's so humble.
Denis has given Dave Bautista his two best roles, he was awesome in Blade Runner and he was awesome in Dune.
I remember when he got the role of Drax and was so humble and so willing to commit to working on his craft. It shows in everything he does. His work in Bladerunner 2049 and both Dune films show that Denis and him work very well together.
He was also great in Spectre
@DC05570 don't forget guardians, so good in every film such a presence
He needs a starring role. His character in Blade Runner could be developed into a whole prequel.
There is a prequel short about his character in BR2049 @@truantray
@@truantrayI def agree with that!
Just the last words 'I feel validated' mean a lot! He's a great role model!
I honestly think that Bautista is a solid actor. He just needs directors like Villeneuve to show what he's capable of.
He was also great in Villeneauve's Blade Runner 2049
I agree, expressive but self-contained.
I appreciate how at his age he still hungry to grow and learn. A model for all of us.
I genuinely love his acting. Nuff said.
Of all the WWE crossovers, he's the one who really is a stellar actor. Crushes all his roles.
John Cena has his moments, Dwayne Johnson cares too much about his public perception to ever be more than a typecast actor.
his role in _blade runner_ and _a knock at the cabin_ are excellent showcases of his acting. he's not just another meat head
Yes! knock at the cabin was phenomenal, BECAUSE of Bautista. He really elevated that movie into something I wasn’t expecting.
As I watched Dave's performance in both films, I really thought....
Okay the director is getting one hell of a performance from this guy. From his lines to just facial features and no lines
Especially in the second film, you can tell Dave is REALLY in the zone. It felt real and natural. I loved his performance in both films
Should see Bautista in Denis's Blade Runner 2049. It was the moment i realized he wasn't just comic relief action star Drax, but someone with serious acting chops
What was so crazy to me was how well he played a kind of cowardly and ineffectual weak character. Like we know he's this big beefy dude but despite that the character is kind of useless in a fight. You can see the internal conflict all over his face. Like he wants to be a badass but he's just kind of not... It's an incredible performance from someone who demonstrates very well that being big physically doesn't mean you have the internal aggression and confidence to back up it. I loved him in the cabin movie too. He's been mixing it up and expanding his range really effectively.
@@Dontinquire this guy got it
Denis strikes me as a wise director. He knows how to get the best out of an actor in a positive way. I never realized how good Dave was till Blade Runner. It's no wonder why, Denis directed that as well
Yup! I heard he gives his actors a LOT of freedom and just trusts them to do their thing. And in return, they offer up amazing performances! Denis doesn't micromanage the actors. What a concept!
@@2WhiteAndNerdy Life lesson tbh, corporate america could learn a lot
Bautista is one of those actors that has really a lot of range. In one moment, you really belive, he is Drax the Destroyer, enjoying his comedic and action scenes.
And then he plays an Android and war veteran, which tries to hide and live like a human.
Just to suddenly see him give an incredible performance as a villiain by playing Rabban Harkonnen.
He did the role real good.
In what way? He screams non stop, he quivers his lip and looks off into space for some reason, you can barely understand his dialogue… so name anything that made him “great” in the role?
@@Diggyozwell, Rabban is supposed to be a brute, and he definitely acted accordingly
@@Diggyozyou obviously wasn’t watching the movie then, how would you feel trying not to disappoint the baron and the emperor and nothing is going according to plan, Bautista acted great of what his character suppose to feel, anger, frustration, betrayal
@starwyd1798 I agree, I like the scene where they're in front of the Barrons room and you hear screams and Rabbon turns to his subordinates with a look of genuine fear before he enters. Most of his brutish actions come from a place of desperation and usually those under him are intimidated but in this particular scene you can almost feel they sympathize for him.
@@terrantony2635Rabban is actually just a bully to cover up his own cowardice (as is shown in Dune 2), whereas his brother Feyd-Rautha is a fearless sadomasochistic sociopath looking for kicks.
Bautista's expressions really sold that picture effectively.
It was not a meaty part, but with the few scenes he had he transmited the neccesary for the story to flow.
glad denis supported him. he gave a great performance in dune 2.
Great guy and humble
The humbleness and sensitivity of Bautista is priceless! Great things await for him in cinema, we’ll see
He was incredible in both parts of Dune.
He seems so genuinely humble and committed to being better and better. It’s endearing. The Rock is just so charismatic I think that’s 80-90% of what propelled him. My fave The Rock movie is Doom. He was good and actually trying on that movie.
I love Bautista as an actor (and also as a person). He's very humble, very into acting and learning. His best role imo is Sapper Morton in Blade Runner 2049, impeccable acting. He's best with dramatic roles but most will relate to his comedic ones... I'm glad Villeneuve will give him a chance at those.👏👏👏
Have you seen him in this Bladder Runner short? czcams.com/video/aZ9Os8cP_gg/video.htmlsi=Lv2Sd3_nak-ZGP_G 👍🏻
I was going to comment about his performance in Blade Runner 2049 and then I remembered who the director was in that
Perfect Rabban!
These movies so far have made me feel amazing. Hearing about how DV behaves with his colleagues, how he supports them verbally, and the respect the actors and actresses have towards him, really shows in the movies. Everyone wants to be there, and everyone cares about the project.
I love how passionate this man is about acting as his career
It's an amazing feeling when you're validated. The icing on top is when it comes from an individual you respect.
We See You -Drax- Dave. #Validated
Best director of the last 15 years. Solid actor here too.
1st time i saw this man and thought with pleasant surprise that i think he can act , was in his small role in blade runner 2049 (Villeneuve) ...
that scene was so good seeing it first time
It’s true. This actor keeps getting better and better, I admire that.
I think he was outstanding in Knock at the Cabin.
Yes, I agree. He carried that movie on his shoulders (the kid was really good too).
He was so good in that. He was this odd mixture of intimidating yet love able?
Yesss!!!!
The look of fear he generated as Rabban was amazing. That Rabban us really a bully and a coward. Just a great actor
Dave Bautista is talented enough to be congratulated on his hard work and commitment as an actor without mentioning wrestling
He was good, completely believable as Rabban
I love the way bautista speaks. He feels very humble and grounded. He's also genuinely a great actor to boot
55 and still humble and learning. A very wise man indeed.
Dave Bautista really seems like a genuine, salt of the earth kind of guy. The kind of guy you’d like to have a beer with. And I really appreciate how seriously he takes his craft. I don’t know about the Rock or Cena, but I can’t imagine either of them sharing this much about the art of acting in such a mellow, vulnerable state of mind. He’s open and honest and I think it really sets him apart as an actor.
Dave Bautista is a legit good actor. In everything i have seen him in he has always been so good. I think his humility is part of why he is so good. He is also a really likable guy.
He was good in blade runner 2049 too!
My favorite performance in Dune.
I really like his transformation, he really is taking his acting career seriously.
“The rats are already inside!” I feel like his role as Beast Rabban could be easily overlooked but having to yell with that kinda energy and sell it like he did, Dave did a great job. Love the little moments he had too like when that Fremen warrior almost kills him (during that ship fight) and he watches the body fall, you can really see a look of fear come across his face: That he’s fighting a foe and he has no idea what to do or how to beat them
You can definitely see how Denis’ direction has amplified Bautista’s confidence and competency as an actor. Although his roles in BR2049 and the Dune Movies were somewhat small, every scene he was in was the best acting I’ve seen from Bautista in any of his films.
Great leadership example by Denis: Care for the people you are directing and treat them with empathy.
Such a good job standing there with his mouth open or yelling
Dave Bautista is the man, so humble!!
he was good in dune too you can tell he was comfortable
He was so good as Drax in the Guardian of the Galaxy movies. I was legitimately shocked when I found out that was him because he’s so funny, and his comedic timing is so great.
I dont celebrity chase, but i wish there were more people like you & this director that you talk about on earth🌻
Dave is the man, love his work!
I like seeing Dave in movies, he always does a good job.
Dude you killed it
Dave is an amazing actor. His small short of Blade runner stands out amazing. I hope he gets more opportunities to shine.
I appreciate his commitment to his roles. He's not a wrestler turn actor anymore.
We all love Dave he’s so good
David is a nice guy. Humble 👏
I mean he scared me in Knock at the Cabin shows how much Dave have grew in his acting career but i sho looovvee him in his wrestling days.
Man came a long way ❤
He was as good as any actor has ever been in his role in Blade Runner. Excellent performance.
He was great as Rabban and is a very strong actor, once people can see past his huge size and wrestling background they can appreciate his acting ability
I like the Rock & Jason Momoa as performers, charismatic and fun, but Dave Bautista is a true actor working on and perfecting his craft in multiple roles. More roles for Dave Bautista please!
when i saw Dave as Rabban in dune I WAS LIKE "oooooh MYYYY this going be fun" then saw them both and i can say "YES YES YES THIS IS AWESOME, i want more"
Rabban's fear when they are before the emporer felt authentic. Some actors in the movie are hard to see past like that's Walken, that's Zendaya, etc., but that's RABBAN!
His short role in Bladerunner was so good
For me, Raban was the guy who did his best to be a terrifyingly effective force, a true heir worthy to rule… Only he did it in the wrong ways, and in the end only sealed his own doom. He not only was lesser than he ever thought, he had to live with that in more and more humbling ways, until in his final confrontation he got eviscerated like a gunslinger’s victim. His only comfort in life was a quick(ish) death. And it was *sad,* but in a way that felt true and expanded on how the book character got sidelined.
Ah such a sweetie
I really love the way he protrays dramatic character… those 5/6 minute in blade runner were incredibly real way better than any other wrestler turned actor I do good they give him more serious role
I really like how he played Glossu Rabban.
He plays a terrific villain. A real bada$$! 😎
Dave is the man👍🏽
"you are a very strong actor" "thanks, its the muscles"
His part in blade runner was superb
Dave's acting in Blade Runner 2049 was perfect.
There’s no question Dave Bautista is a fantastic actor. From Glass Onion to Blade runner to Dune, of course Guardian of the G., the four horsemen,… he’s killing it. There’s more nuance is Bautista Blade runner role than in the entire career of The Rock and Cena combined.
Dude i knew bautista was a terrific actor from that opening scene in Bladerunner 2049
Kratos is that you
i agree! hes a very good actor
Could somebody have Microsoft relent to finally make the Gears of War Movie?
He was fantastic in Blade Runner: 2049, and hilarious in Glass Onion!
Dave Bautista and Denis Vellinuve are my favorite actor director combo rn
We need more roles with him with a beard. It's simply a hole different vibe.
I think its great how much Vin Diesel helped him develop his acting chops, and he continues to take that student mindset moving forward.
Bautista made a great Beast Rabban. I'd like to have seen him more in the movies!
I love him! 😊
Even though his role was rather minor he perfectly performed it. He didn’t try to make the movie about him like OTHER tough guy actors. He played his role and as a result is a part of a modern masterpiece.
I really loved to see him in Blade runner because he seemed more then a gimmick in Gardians. And I was so happy to see that he gets good role not just some kind of roles
Bless him.
Dave shows you really can't judge a book by it's cover, and should be applauded for his vulnerability here. guys are supposed to not need anything, to be tough and not care - saying he has emotional needs and thrives when being nurtured like this, while looking like a man's man's man, really takes courage. good on you, Mr. Bautista.
He is incredible in Dune! Terrifying. But has range. Wow! What a legend he is!
We need to remember that wrestlers are actors. A very physical and melodramatic form of actor, no doubt, but actors nonetheless. So we shouldn't be too surprised that a fair few make the jump to other forms of acting, nor when one of them turns out to be a very fine cinematic actor.
He’s so lovely.
Enjoyed his personage, in the 2nd Dune he became multilayered, with inner insights, it was very interesting to watch those micro-transformations.
He did great in Blade runner too.
Bautista was BREATHTAKING in dune 2!!
I never followed his wrestling career, but have only know him as an actor. I really enjoy his work.
You’re fantastic sir and the movie is unbelievably brilliant
This made "awwwe" out loud 😅😊.
I first experienced Denis Villeneuve watching the movie Incendies. Unforgettable to this day. His greatness is always on display.
Bautista really brought the pain in his role for Dune and Dune Part Two, he was the one who made the early Harkonnen scenes work, knowing that it's not just the Baron it's the entire Harkonnen elite, and knowing that early. And that was a good performance for Dune, but D2, holy hell was that a great performance. Every scene he was in was electrifying. If Feyd Rautha were for whatever reason pushed to Dune Messiah, Rabban would be who we are talking about. He was fantastic trying to hunt out the fremen, he was unhinged, and it's hard to play unhinged convincingly. He probably had a bigger footprint in this film than Stellan Skarsgard as the Baron did, and that's crazy because he stole the show in the first film.
Also I'd like to draw attention to how Bautista had to kiss the boot of the actor playing Feyd Rautha. And then watch as that guy uh, became the fucking role like Heath Ledger playing the fucking Joker and accordingly got the fame. That must've been a special sort of hell.
I'm sorry Bautista! Hollywood doesn't deserve you!

He's so good and humble ❤️
Dave just wants to be hugged on set!
That was awesome.
He gets and does a great job. Not the same role every time
