What I struggle to understand is why people perceive the ending of Whiplash as a happy one. I mean, at the end of the day, Fletcher got what he wanted. He abused his own power and made sure that MC got completely corrupted by perfection. The ending may seem triumphant, but only to Terence so far

Magneto. He’s a realist and not an idealist like Xavier, he lived the true nightmare of being different. He saw his parents die when he was a child, he saw mutants slaughtered, experimented on and feel powerless at sometimes.
So yeah, I’d say Magneto is an amazing villain to the idea of coexistence between two species and a character to learn more of.
