Nothing, but to just want to remind himself that he is different than ordinary people and must behave rather in such odd ways and must keep it up at all times to be noticed by also those who are around him! He misses so much in life wasting it doing odd things when he could have much better things worthwhile to do like his parents who were loved by all.

Paul Burrell is hardly a valid witness. As to Valets and butlers and footmen etc. That has been a tradition in order to give honour to those families close to the Form plus often giving employment to young folk who otherwise would have their talents wasted.
So often in other posts we hear just how grateful these folks are because they had this experience! As for the meals… this hardworking Royal does most of his lunching in the evening. When he’s not stressed by schedules and meetings. He has a decent breakfast at a decent time. I bet his staff is encouraged to do the same.
Given all the inherited physical problems of his family I’d say that his reasons for taking his bed everywhere might be so that he can keep smiling and be pleasant during a gruelling schedule in whatever town he finds himself! Queen Elizabeth used to carry her own bedding too!
The whole story just shows how petty and gossipy the Press is. Don’t think that our leaders and heads of state elected aren’t as exacting!!!

@@vickieking1934 I feel far more embarrassed for people who believe all the garbage that pours out of Paul Burrell's mouth - because that's where most of this comes from. Burrell was never butler to Charles but was appointed to Diana's staff. There are so many basic questions which most of us can answer - but he can't. A s mentioned above, most of the matters you refer to have been laughed off by a recently retired butler. His shoelaces aren't ironed. He doesn't take his own bed. He doesn't take his own toilet seat. The "toothbrush" thing happened when he broke his arm, was in extreme pain and he asked for help - and when the arm had to be rebroken again asked for help. I'm sure you'd ask for assistance from someone in your household if you were in extreme pain from a badly broken arm. As for the rest, I'd take it with a grain of salt. I think sometimes the royals forget who's footing the bill. I think they should pay back some of the money they've wrested from their subjects who've supported their overly extravagant lifestyles for hundreds of years. Charles' butler at the time has been interviewed and has stated that all these bizarre claims about shoelaces, toilet seats and other ridiculous remarks have been completely denied by the man who was butler to Charles at the time. Time to get Burrell off the airwaves. He knows nothing more than what happened at the time he was Diana's butler (she died over 25 years ago) and is giving his opinion on current matters about which he is completely ignorant. He's been asked some fairly basic questions which many of us know the answer to, and he skirts around them because he doesn't have a clue. You’re wrong about Camilla as Charles loved her before Diana. Neither Diana or Charles wanted to marry. She stated that in her book. They were forced to marry which was selfish of both Queen Elizabeth & Diana’s parents. Diana wanted to experience her young life touring before settling down. She stated she was envious of her friends who got to see the world. Diana liked the Queen & vice versa. Charles & Diana followed the rules even knowing they would never be happy. She wanted freedom he wanted to be with the one he loved. Diana had affairs while still married also she admitted this. She admitted to having 2 affairs while still sharing the same bed as Charles. Charles protected Diana from the mud slinging she would face if it got out. Charles didn’t destroy Diana. Where do you think that million $ question still comes from after 38 years. One thing Diana said was her & Charles divorced but neither of them divorced their children . Together they co- parent. Diana found no fault with Charles as father as he didn’t find fault with her as a parent. They didn’t themselves did not get the love of each other. It’s the public & papers that screamed that Charles had no right to divorce Diana as she was beautiful & he would learn to love her all because in their eyes Diana was & still is the most beautiful woman dead or alive. Since when did beauty make a marriage or better yet since when does beauty GUARANTEE a marriage. Look around you you or look around your neighbourhood to see how many beautiful people have the perfect marriage with out love. Take a look at your own family members. Do you really believe William & Harry would have grown up happy with parents who hated each other. How many people do you know who stay in marriages of dislike only to divorce as soon as their kids graduate. Don’t come across as perfect because if you were you wouldn’t be tossing mud at Charles. Remember beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. If Charles & Camilla invited you to spend a few days with them you be be smirking at your friends without hesitation. It’s human nature. Get a grip on life. Take the rose coloured glasses off when it comes to Diana. Not every single person loved her as the public claims. If you all say you love her why in hells name are you letting Harry shred her memory apart. You are the ones that need to ban together & stop Harry. It’s because of Harry that Diana’s affairs have been brought forward again. One man loves his mother so deeply that he spouts off to the world he rubs mommy’s favourite hand cream on his penis & thinks of her at the same time. That’s not love that’s pure hate. Go read all the books about Dianna , read the books she was involved in while someone else wrote them. Jesus Christ if you care about Diana start smacking that ass off a son into a pile of chicken shit.

Nah, no different than a foodie, who knows what they like and preferences, including the knowledge that some food, like cheese or even wine have the best taste when served at a particular temperature. Moreover the person who travels with their own pillows, or the folks who overpack with the boy-scout mentality of always be prepared. There are individuals who always, myself included, skip breakfast because they can’t be bothered, unless I can eat it leisurely. Fresh sheets are a pleasure because of the way the sheets feel and smell and I would put them onto the bed every day, if I could and weren’t so busy and lazy. What about the person who only takes a bath vs showers; or hot vs warm.

There was a recent interview with the butler who retired a few years ago (not the ignorant Burrell). It's a myth that Charles carries his toilet seat and bed. What's wrong with hanging your own art pieces? What's wrong with seeing the food list - if indeed it's true? The toothpaste story came about when he broke his arm badly and then had to have it rebroken. Most people would have difficulty with toothpaste with an arm which was broken twice - but it's not an everyday habit. Paul Burrell is a fraud who was assigned to Diana, and his knowledge of the RF ended after Diana died. I've heard so much garbage from him in interviews. Paul Burrell also said that Charles had his shoe laces ironed. The butler who was interviewed recently knew nothing about this. It would be typical for an American to quote the TV series The Crown - given that it is largely fiction and a disclaimer now has to be put on episodes at the demand of Dame Judy Dench who was horrified by the misrepresentations. I would take any stories about the temperatures of cheese etc with a grain of salt. In terms of plants Charles was way ahead of the pack in relation to the environment despite being ridiculed for his beliefs at the time. Shaking hands with all of his plants? You aren't serious are you? Again the ironed shoelaces is something about which his recently retired butler knew nothing and stated it was a joke to stir up the gullible - including that Burrell idiot who was never butler to Charles. I don't imagine that any members of the RF use tea bags.
"Burrell says . . ." Anything Burrell says has to be taken with a grain of salt. This fraud is making money big time off his stories and there are so many questions he can't answer - or gets wrong. He's a sad old queen desperate to hang on to what he believes is his relevance. Latest story is that he's trying to tell us that he changed the nappies for Diana's children. Garbage.
Camilla was only referred to as Queen Consort for six months after the death of Queen Elizabeth II so as to avoid confusion. Her title is Queen Camilla. King George VI and the two preceding monarchs had wives who were consorts (as opposed to regents) but their titles were (as one example) Queen Elizabeth whilst married to King George VI. Same rules apply to Camilla. No woman has ever had the title of Queen Consort (insert name). It's their description, not their title.
Andrew Farkooharsan? Americans really need to know how to pronounce names if they're going to take on the role of British Royalty commentaries. It's pronounced Andrew "Farkwasun". Foy grass? Try "fwa grah".
As is stated near the end of this garbage, most didn't know about any of this because it's made up by the Yanks or told to them to see how gullible they are.

How petty to focus on this! Some of it is not weird. Very likely a good reason.
    1. Packing: in his position he likely changes for various events. Nothing wrong with having what you need when traveling. Certaintly not odd. In addition, he likely has special luggage the helps keep his items wrinkle free.
    2. Carry own belongings: bedding I can see bringing - if you have issues, bringing specialized items to help is paramont. I can relate to this due to back issues. The toilet is a bit much but perhaps he has germafobia issues. I've brought my own toilet paper - hate using Ines that shred before you can even finish cleaning up. I only use one brand
    3. Painting. Why would it be odd to hand his own artwork? It took him time and effort - it's wall worthy. I have my creations all over the home (drapes, blankets, floral arrangements, photography, pottery, etc). How horrible people thinks he shouldn't have his own creations in his own home! Some may have strong memories attached to them.
    4. Teddy bear: An emotional superstitious attachment - very much like not washing hockey shirts, walking around objects in the same directions as others or not walking under a ladder. It's a good luck charm. Nothing wrong with that.
    5. Seeing the food list: he is a picky eater so planning around meals that don't include anything he can eat is wise and what mist of us do. Sometimes we have medical issues that warrant planning out meals so your not eating too much of something (like acidic foods). Many people have to plan and ask what's on the menu.
    6. Toothpaste. This seems a bit much but perhaps he can use that type of dexterity (arthritis). Ironing shoelaces isn't our normal but in his world, he must have wrinkle free style and having perfect laces goes along with the pristine appearance they all have. Again, nothing wrong with that and since he's picked on every thing he does, no wonder those laces are ironed. His bath plug in a certain position....did anyone think to check the tub to see if it's a excellent request? Perhaps it's been lost too many times so it has its own spot. Hey, whatever works to fix an issue right? As for his bath water temperature - that's normal!!
    7. Skip lunch. Missing lunch in the USA is unlawful but may be ok in the UK. It's stated it's healthier but the narrator doesn't explain in more details so hard to argue this a negative without reliable resources. However- if any staff is opposed to not eating lunch, quit. It's their choice to continue employment- no one is forcing them to stay.
    8. Food at a certain temperature: it's could be teeth sensitivity or just his taste buds find certain foods are delicious at certain temperature and when they are colder or hotter it alters the taste to him. Again, nothing wrong or odd about it. He's just rich enough to have staff nearby to be able to warm his food up for him so he can enjoy it. In a world full of rules he has no choice over, he's atleast able to choose small things to enjoy his way
    9. Talking to plants: heck, sounds much more normal than talking to a grave - let the man admire his plants.
    10. Doesn't eat everything. He's picky and with all picky eaters they gravitate to the same foods with no issues. How is this odd or an issue. He's eating! Trillions of people live this way
    11. We already talked about shoelaces.
    12. Already discussed traveling with furniture.
    13. Blend tea bags. It's like a fine wine, you like what you like and you like it done where it tastes the most delicious. It's like pie. In my family we won't eat store bought or pies made with ready made crust or fillings. 100% handmade. Not because we're snobs but because tonus, it tastes delicious where as the other versios do not ; we just don't like the taste.
    14. Bath temperature already discussed. Of course if you get it wrong you get scolded, your hired to do a job and when you don't, your not performing up to par. Just like hotel workers.Common sense. Do it right and you won't be scolded. It's a job! Don't like it, terminate your job.
    15. Breakfast box - its his favorite and clearly his backup plan.
Just because he can afford to make provisions the average blue collar worker can't afford to do by having extra staff that makes things easier to find more comfort or enjoy the little things in life like food. His wold is full of strict rules and not being able to change it or make decisions us average folks can easily, let the man enjoy the little and few things he can control and enjoy! Remember, his life is not his own! He is in service to his country; don't you think a person deserves to be able to have these enjoyments or processes that help him eat healthy or fit in with his needs.
Come on, let's ficus on more new worthy content!

His toothpaste habit dates to the time that he sustained a very bad fracture of his right arm from a fall while playing polo.
Mostly these are personal preferences. He is definitely more obsessional than many.
I’m his age and I have a lot of similar habits. Most I couldn’t afford.
He carries Highgrove honey in several choices. I’m more into a variety of jams.
Timing of meals after a large breakfast makes perfect sense to me. I get hungry every day at tea time.
