At the 1:20 mark M. Roth and Francois D-A share a look that says, "Oh my, THIS IS SPECIAL." Dub-Attenti holds the smile a while Roch continues to "conduct" each bass line entrance, and holds his hands together in reverence for most of the performance. Oh, to have been there!

Loved the rapture from the great man when the pedal kicked in! It's fantastic to see that he still gets thrilled by this organ after so many years

Daniel Roth seems to be the most gracious master of the organ. He always takes such delight at watching other organists ply their craft. I hope I get to meet him some day.

Three amazing individuals on one bench! I love how Pierre and Mr Roth glance over at each every so often throughout the performance. They are both clearly very moved by the power of the registration and the amazing performance of an incredible piece of music!

I think the 46,000 views (as of January 2020) don't tell the true story... I think that most of us (me included ;0) have saved this video in a local file so that we can play it again and again on a glorious HiFi system, without internet and without commercials ;0) :-)

If, for Robert Schumann, "Schmücke dich" from the 18 restored everything he had ever lost:
then this very instanciation of the big Heiliger Geist Kyrie from the Clavierübung, with its nod to Dupré, and on the instrument Schweitzer rightly declared to be "IT" for the adequate performance of Bach restores all that I need in 2021 to *get through this." "Le feu sacré" spoken of by Stendhal in *The Red and the Black" delivered to my front door in the Rocky Mountains. Immortal Thanks to the very long roster of luminaries from pre-Bach to this day who produced this exceptional moment in what we call "Civilization." In the history of what Schweitzer named:
      "Ehrfurcht für's Leben."
Very best regards, Mark (from Arizona)

Living proof that the most difficult music is not necessarily virtuosic. Bach's tribute to the Holy Ghost - the third Person of the Trinity - ranks, along with the remainder of the Clavierubung Part III, among the most sublime and profound creations in the organ literature. I can personally attest to the fact that this piece in particular is of a degree of difficulty to both learn and play that can only bedescribed as staggering.

I know this piece well, and this is among the most striking performances of it I have heard. The pacing is impeccable, both in the general speed which allows this astonishing counterpoint to speak, and in the way the player bends the tempo at key moments. He understands how this piece works! Moreover, the registration changes during that intensely chromatic ending are extraordinarily effective -- a musical equivalent, perhaps, of the bow or crossing that some folk will do at the end of the Kyrie in liturgy.

THAT SOUND !! Who said that JS Bach is badly played on a CC organ ? This time, Bombarde 32' is pertinent, because the melody at the pedal is slow, and the CC organ is so wide here, so majestic, that you can use it. Usually, you must avoid the 32 feet stops with Bach. I think that it is what, maybe surprises a bit Daniel Roth and his pupil, or consolidates their opinion abaout it ? Another good idea : no 'tirasse' on the Pedal, playing only with its own stops.I think that the tirasses are too many times systematicly used. The rendition of this Choral is fantastic, although on a CC organ, with very few mixtures in this registration. The result is very impressive !!

Our national broadcaster asked on Facebook how people react when listening to Bach we were asked to comment what we did if we just sat there or do we show emotion my reply I carry on like M. Roth does you can't help it he touches our soul.

While this is a fantastic performance, I disagree with the change of manuals (to piano) at the end of the piece. This organ is impressive, and its loud sound should continue throughout the chorale. But Mr. Warnier appears to be a dedicated musician!

É un'occasione per ascoltare eseguita musica di Bach su un organo del 1800 forse il meno adatto a
queste composizioni perché talvolta i registri
