This surely must have been the concert of the year, the programme just shows us the beauty of this organ no work is beyond it. M. Castagnet's ' performance is sublime, his tempo on every piece is perfect you can almost hear the organ breathing. The mammoth effort to show it on a huge screen is amazing, chez moi we just press a button and the screen comes down someone just sit at a computer console and it all happens. Bravo.

Absolument somptueusement interprétée. Et tellement rarement jouée ou entendue au concert ! Alors que c'est une superbe symphonie, avec la 3e et la 7e. Pourvu qu'elles ne tombent pas dans l'oubli. Grâce à vous, ce ne sera pas encore le cas. Mais c'est loin également d'être la plus facile techniquement ! Je ne sais même pas si cette 8e ne serait pas plus difficile que la Romane. Elle se rapproche des symphonies de Vierne comme la 3e et la 5e qui sont difficiles techniquement.Encore merci et bravo ! En plus sur St Sulpice, c'est l'extase totale !
L'allegro risoluto de la 8° a la réputation d'être très difficile. Je connais même une intégrale diapasondorée où l'on entend l'organiste ramer... ma référence = Odile Pierre. Mais pour en revenir à ce finale, chapeau. Style et exactitude. Avec M. Castagnet, on n'est jamais déçu...
Grand merci Yves Castanet de jouer cette huitième symphonie (une découverte pour moi) et de faire entendre ainsi le répertoire moins "connu", mais tout autant appréciable !!
It is easy to see why this great talent occupies the choir organ post at N.D in Paris.Ironically, I happened to hear "O Man Bewail ..." playing on that organ in N.D. with Yves perflorming. It was Widor's most cherished piece of music.

I was in this church in may of 2019. There was a funeral going on and I made a video of the chapel organ. The grand orgues du France 🇫🇷 Are amazing.

It seems he has huge hands which looks to be handy, especially in the left hand parts.
