- We install and test budget coilover suspension for a Holden VE Commodore. Maxpeeding rods reached out to us to test these coilovers and we show you how to install the coilovers and how they perform on a road test.

For my daily driver, i fitted low km fe3 suspension from a vf1, don't need anything stiffer for a family wagon but much better than the fe1.5 v8 suspension.
Nice one mate. Our original FE suspension in the ute had 160,000kms of wear and needed total replacement.
See the video where Clunie Garage tried fitting VF front struts to their VE… soon worked out that it couldn’t be done.😢 Who knew?
new drinking game....Everytime he says 'Frankie' take a shot, id have been smashed within 3 minutes!
His name is Frankie?
Hi clunie, Love your videos ❤️💯!! I even got full manta exhaust with DPE headers after watching your video on exhaust systems for commodores! Can you please do a video on camming ve commodores 🙏 🙏🙏 I got many recommendations on cams from fb groups and so but just only waiting for your recommendation!
Thanks
Look up Richard holdener, he dyno tests lots of ls motors. If it's a street car and you don't want to race it, a mild cam like a truck Norris or similar will wake it up, yet won't push the stock heads, it's something like a 225° cam .
G'day mate, we will do a full cam video when we install the BTR camshaft into our built 6.0 engine for the ute. Congrats on purchasing the Manta DPE system.
That rear shock did not look like a VE rear! Is that why we never saw the rear being installed?
Yep, sent back.
I paid 5 times more than these for Shockworks coil overs on my VE and you could say they are overkill for the street but they are incredible. The handling is transformed and the car is amazing around the corners. They are pretty hardcore though and on anything but the softest setting, the ride is too hard.
Nice one mate. Money well spent.
@@ClunieGarage Thanks. I was hesitant to spend so much at the time but no regrets afterwards.
@@mrnicktoyou we have heard good things about them but we don't have personal experience. We use MCAs and BC's on our VF and VE track cars and they are superb.
What did you do about sway bar links I have the same problem
We ended up not fitting these coilovers because of the links. We contacted MaxPeeding rods and let them know. Also, our rears that were supplied appeared to be for a totally different vehicle. Again, we let them know. Ross reviews has just published a video with the same issue.
Just out of interest, what is your definition of budget? How much are these things?
The pricing and specifications can be found on the link in the description. 🙂
Just a legalities question are they DOT Approved for road use
Please help Bc the maxpedding ppl are no help... what are the part numbers for the coilover that you guys used?
Love the Bremen’s, not sure about the coil over.😇
I said Brembo but the auto correct got me.
Brembos would fìt nicely on your mums Caprice!
What'd you end up doing about the sway bar links?
G'day, we had to leave them disconnected for the test drive as we didn't have any spare ones that would fit the brackets on these coilovers.
Thanks mate. Bit strange that everything bar that is direct fitment.
Got to be annoying. How did this happen.?
Would you recommend these for my VE for street use? My Ve will never be on a track, I'm just looking to lower it. I'm abit hesitant about the quality of them and how long they will last as they seem like they are cheaply produced in china. Your thoughts mate?
Cluniegarage@gmail.com
BC coil overs might be a good thing….
You can still get good quality stuff from china but you just have to do your research
Did you end up buying these or finding decent coilovers for cheap
WHERE BACK!
Installing the maxpeeding clils in the ve Ute this weekend will I need to change the sway linkage bars at all???
G'day mate, yes you will after our experience. Let us know you go with the rears.
@@ClunieGarage will do guys have new rotors & pads also so we have a full weekend 👌👌👌
@@user-zr9wh5je8phow did you go with your kit.? Have better luck with the rears?
@@angry9901 no I wasn’t really satisfied with them, instead I have gone lowered springs with a decent shock. Have gone shortened shocks in the front as well, riding very nicely
Can someone tell me the name of the guy doing all the work.
That is Frankie - the real star of the channel!!
Bloody good bloke that Frankie, pity about his driving ability.😛💩
@@angry9901 Frankie is the hands on mechanic that appears to do most of the installation of parts that are showcased on the channel. The shaved haired guy (Fred?) is an ex-Formula Ford and go-kart racer from all accounts.
7:56 🤣
Oooff
What did you end up doing to solve the swaybar link problem
G'day mate, we haven't solved that problem. We have refitted our BC coilovers as the ute is a dedicated track car.
@@ClunieGarage i think you might be able to run vy to vz links
I can't believe my eyes..😅
Bro these are not ve/vf coilovers!!! Wtf 😂😂
Whatever you do, make sure these are swapped out before your next track day FFS.....
You rate them that highly Demitri?
@@angry9901 I wouldn't give them away. Straight to the bin.
their not that good try sahs
