- Exploring An Abandoned Kmart In New York With Aces Adventures. Enjoy a brief look at this old store that closed around 2016. While there was not much to see around inside, the remains of the old K Cafe were still intact. Most of the store has been repurposed and sectioned off. We got to explore this store courtesy of my good friend Anthony of Aces Adventures.

Very painful to watch these Kmart videos. I was in management with them from the middle 80's to mid 90's. Was at four different stores in Alabama. Great times back then. Including one store I was at still had the ole reel to reel tape deck.

Although I liked Kmart , I still mourn the demise of Hills stores that were in Ohio 😢

I just explored an abandoned Kmart in my area, door was wide open and I just walked in! So much fun! It even had a Thank you for shopping our Big Kmart sign in the front! And I said look at the front where it says Kmart real big!
Super cool! What location? Had a similar experience here at the former Kmart in Allentown pa. Doors open and sign on the wall. Registers even intact too.
@@bretesenftleben8576 I live in Mckinleyville CA the sign was all that was left, other then that it was completely stripped of everything! Still cool to explore though! So many memories.😥

Half abandoned Kmart in victor, new York is now hobby lobby the other half still abandoned.
Makes me miss Kmart even more. Our Kmart also closed in 2016.
No Kmarts here in Texas. I'm in the Houston area, ours closed way back in 2003.
Mine Opened in around 1989 and closed in 2018, it was the Hermitage PA location, it actually Closed the same day as the Last Kmart Super Center, it's Now a Big Lots and Gabe's

McKinleyville Closed Summer 2020. I was in this one in Feburary the same year on the way to Home Depot.

The Dicks Sporting Goods actually moved up to the Eastview mall where the former Sears was. Bigger space probably.
It's actually now a House of Sport. So much bigger and better, and only one of two in the country... So far.

There's an abandoned K Mart in Yorktown Heights, New York which is directly adjacent to an abandoned Food Emporuim Supermarket (part of the old A&P Cluster)
My hometown Kmart is now hobby lobby,dollar tree , pet supplies plus and 5 below across from meijer store in stow which used to have a plaza with the original Kresge store

You should check out the Walmart in Navasota, Texas. It still has the logo with the hyphen and it's really small. It got a new paint job but kept the hyphen logo.
That Walmart is as old-school as they come!

That is about the right number of keys you would find in every Kmart. Every store had a key box usually in the store managers office. They would be numbered and hopefully marked with what the key was for.

Good video! Wallie! You were in my state where I live! Nice to see part of that Kmart used as something else. That one room you went in, was really really dark!
That little room was the cash office when you needed a cash bag at your start of shift for a register this is where you would receive it and turn it in at end of your shift. There would have been a full safe in there.
It was kinda strange seeing a cash office behind the counter of the snack bar. I thought it would have been way in the back of the store, where it's more secure.

@@christiangonzales7429my guess is cart storage. None of my stores had this. However look at the dark tinted glass in the vestibule on the same side as that room. Is probably where the carts came inside.
@@MarksKicksOnRoute66 I didn't notice that initially. You're right, it looks like it might be the cart chute like ones Walmart had (with the tiny half-doors at their older stores). This is just a bigger version of that.

I want to say you were right about the Hobby Lobby being split from the Kmart and not the old Dick's because the service desk, Little Caesars, and the fitting rooms all took up that side of the store. My hometown Kmart in Phenix City, Alabama was built identical to that. When the stores are built with front entrances near the corner of the store the snack bars or eaterys are normally on the side wall where this one was as the stores with the entrance in the center of the front wall have their snack bars either on the front wall or in the back of the store normally

2016 was last time I walked into a K-Mart and that's cause there fucking prices were INSANE !! Much more than Walmart/Target. I see why they're going out of business dying a slow death

in my case since I am a nut for keys I would have taken em all dang it. I love keys and I would carry around keys that go to stuff and have ones that done and I would feel like a janitor with all the keys.

Those are all kmart keys. Ask anyone who ever had access to the cash office key box. Every store had tons and tons of keys. Always seemed like Management was afraid to throw old ones away incase they were needed for something.
That room, with the small window, was the cash office. The small window was used if something had to be handed in/out of the office when someone was working inside.

Had I been driving I would have. We were in Anthony's car and were on his schedule. I would have if I was driving my vehicle.
@@WallieB26 I have a hunch the Hobby Lobby still retains the Kmart look for the most part, although with a few grommet modifications.
I hope you have learn to bring your lights where ever you are going. Because you never know when you'll need them.
