    Black Wall Street, Tulsa Oaklahoma, black owned and built during segregation. They did so much with far less than is available to black people today. Their mindset made the difference. The most important change we need is internal. Most have lost the drive and determination that post slavery black people had.

    The main thing that keeps us burried in the burried in a quagmire of poverty is that black people have no land. And I have never heard any movement not even since the civil rights talking about that. We will always struggle if we have no land. The USA economy is primarily based on real estate. If we have no land as a people we have no foundation.

If Latin America wants to do business with us then they can also come aboard, but priority should be sub-Sahara Africa as it has the bodies, talent and natural resources. In this journey we must embrace learning second and third languages also, crucial. 🙌🏾

    I am surprised some focus is not on saving money,pooling money and then using businesses to grow the pot. The shortest route to where we are trying to go is to adopt an AARP model for growing economically. Some focus should be given to inheritances. By now every child should not start their adult life with zero funds. Our people do not bank well enough to handle emergencies.

    What is new , in terms of Black history is that it is new for African Americans in the past 150 years , to have a culture of self centeredness , materialism politcal complacency and total ambivilence towards Collective Economics, this new Phenomenon is only as old as balling culture which now is about 28 years old! People fail to look at the fact that it is Culture , that motivates orthodox jews, Dominicans, Koreans, Yemeni Arabs, Mexicans in the south and Vietnamese and Lebanese in the south to think of money and economics as a Collective rather then Individual good! They use the same concept we had for 130 years after slavery and 40 thousand years before slavery that the Collective Wealth insures all individual Prosperity!

The NOI for one has been promoting the agenda since the 1930s and Marcus Garvey before that. It is basic mathematics that the "collective economic prosperity" that you refer to can not be achieved by a minority population whose members are predominantly pursuing individual prosperity.

    Access to capital and scale go together. You can't scale a business without the capital. Capital is not as accessible in black communities or for black entrepreneurs as they are for others. While that is not an excuse for the hustle, it is legitimate proven reason.

    • @rovingwarrior3710
      @rovingwarrior3710 Před 6 lety

      Ayveel Robinson we need to deposit our money into Black-owned banks in order to supply that capital. For those of us who live in states or areas where there are no Black-owned banks, then OneUnited Bank which is Black-owned is online and available to those in all states.

    • @robinsss

    • @ayveelrobinson5225
      @ayveelrobinson5225 Před 6 lety +1

      You are right. Crime will stifle growth. That is what suffocates black businesses now. They exist for 2-3 years, but the crime makes the area unattractive to consumer.

    • @ayveelrobinson5225
      @ayveelrobinson5225 Před 6 lety

      Black owned banks is not the solution. Trying to allocate all black cash to black banks might help, but it isn't the long term solution. Our businesses need mainstream capital (capital like the white folks get it) to scale.
      Another issue is that many blacks create businesses less scale-able than whites. Which is why I agree with Butch on that part about focusing on technology.

    • @rovingwarrior3710
      @rovingwarrior3710 Před 6 lety

      Ayveel Robinson there is no one solution whether it be Black owned banks or access to capital but a multitude of factors clicking in cohesion. And I didn't intend to insinuate that we should put all Black capital into Black owned banks, but we should put in more than what we have been doing since if the idea of liberation is to grow Black owned and operated Black institutions then that point simply can't be argued. And likewise having access to capital isn't a cure-all if the capital isn't used effectively, it will then only end up putting you into more debt and ruining your credit rating. And if you're waiting on Blacks to get the same access to mainstream capital as Whites then you're going to be waiting on that your entire lifetime.

      robinsss yeah ur lost.. in NYC only homosexual black males are getting the jobs, feminized black men.. The strong educated black men gotta do for self.. or apply for city jobs.. sanitation, mta etc.. not putting woman against man.. but the majority of black owned businesses being opened that aren’t record labels are by black women.. im a black man and I had to do for self with 2 degrees, either no phone call back from interviews or I was over qualified.. now I work for nobody. I sit back collect residual and watch brothers tripping everywhere like they don’t have the resources to do the same

    Good conversation but for the somewhat uninformed. How so? First, Mr. Graves. The magazine business isnt unprofitable. He ran an unprofitable magazine - big difference. In business as in life you have to adjust to market changes. Savoy magazine which Mr. Martin ran was a failure. Under a new innovative owner it's very profitable right now. Over 120 full page ads each issue. More than Essense and Ebony combined. The other guy talks about Morehouse med school and Meharry, well Morehouse med has more Black woman enrolled than Black men. Fewer Blacks are applying to med school but so are fewer native born Americans.
    The other major issue is how people start business. Black women account for almost 65% of all Black Businesses. People tend to start business out of what they know. Black women usually are in low profitable jobs and start a business in a low profitable industry. For women to improve their odds of success and financial relevance they should look at industries men are in, mainly white men. White men make the money in America. Wherever they are, that is where you want to be. Lastly, the average white woman owned business makes $205k a year. Average Asain woman owned business makes $197k. Average Black woman owned business makes $23k. Many Black women do not have a spouse or significant other to help them. So the family comes back I to play. She's flying solo in most cases but with some kids to support. Tough to take flight and stay in flight.

      Ben-O The Last 3rd Eye. Just what I was thinking, how about they open up some loans for our community to start businesses and so we can create jobs. I bet a lot of those fraud accounts were open in our community. Whos at the table asking for those loans. I would be willing to bet Wells Fargo is the title sponser at the annual party sorry I meant annual convention or golf tournament.

    Easy to say merge with someone, blacks that start their own business don't want others looking at their books. They build a business for their family and that's a good thing. Did Black Enterprise merge with Ebony and or Jet.

      It's a valid point. Only suggestion I have is they could get shares of the company and split it 4 ways or so between the founders. If they're all at the top of their game, have good teamwork, and collaborate, they could land the $5 million contracts

    The Privacy Act of 1974, as amended, 5 U.S.C. § 552a, establishes a code of fair information practices that governs the collection, maintenance, use, and dissemination of information about individuals that is maintained in systems of records by federal agencies. A system of records is a group of records under the control of an agency from which information is retrieved by the name of the individual or by some identifier assigned to the individual.
    The Privacy Act requires that agencies give the public notice of their systems of records by publication in the Federal Register. Click here to see a list of DOJ systems of records and their Federal Register citations. The Privacy Act prohibits the disclosure of a record about an individual from a system of records absent the written consent of the individual, unless the disclosure is pursuant to one of twelve statutory exceptions. The Act also provides individuals with a means by which to seek access to and amendment of their records, and sets forth various agency record-keeping requirements.)))) So this is yet another thing legislated that our Community has been denied on all levels except that of the Super rich! When welfare is your only way of life, and black families are so exposed that they have no privacy, we are not by any means accepted into a society that provides protection! Gated community where Trevon was subtly murdered proves His Parents business was not Private nor respected! Being black is way too exposed! I am Ethiopian!

    Now we HAVE to come together financially as a community and combine businesses. So we can scale, become large enough to higher and employ our own people!!!!!
