    This video shows the making of a spotted eagle ray out of walnut with 660 basswood inlays.
    I have named her "Aquila" which means eagle in latin. It is the name of a constellation, so I thought it would suit her very well.
    I made this sculpture in my workshop in Toulouse, France .

    Ah Sylvain!

    Your dedication to your work and the quality thereof is simply phenomenal. There were several times throughout the video where I audibly exclaimed, "That is so clever!"
    Some of my favourite parts were when you used a flashlight to check for sanding irregularities, and when you used the plug to stabilise the tail joint as well as put on the tail spines. Simply genius!
    Were there any parts where putting in the pegs for the spots felt like an overwhelming task, or was it more like the zen of a repetitive task?
    Also, perhaps this is strange, but at the point when you'd inserted the dark pegs into the lighter pegs for the big spots, they kind of reminded me of those dog treats that look vaguely similar. Complete with the weird urge to eat one, hahah!
    Anyhow, thank you so much for spending the time to make this video, and to let us peer into the process of your work. What you make is thoroughly enjoyable, from your art to your editing, tip to toe!

      @SylGAUTIER  Před rokem +1

      To answer your question, it is a very zen task for me :)
