    The 11 man team thing messed with me for a little bit too, cause I didnt even know how many members were on each team (despite being in America and having a local "football" team that actually won a Superbowl at some point) until said local team declared the fans as "The 12th Man".
    I was under the impression it was 12 on 12 myself but shows what I know.

HOWEVER; like the Space Wolves/Vlka Fenrika, they refer to themselves as the 12th Legion, the Legion of Boom. No relation to the actual 12th Legion of Space Marines, and they're officially decendants of the Fists...its a bit complicated.
      There is some confusion as one of the local Imperial Guard regiments that recruits from their system also bears that title, as they're almost entirely mobile artillery. The Ospreys just call them "the fans".

    @howardtreesong9165 Před 2 lety +1

    Played this many times when I was young but it was very simple. From what I recall of those games, it was best to ignore the ball and focus on wiping out the opposition killing and crippling so many of them that they couldn’t field a team for later rounds. The other thing I recall was that there was no limit on passing in either distance or direction. So my strategy with elves was to quickly steal the ball and hide it at their end of the pitch, send a couple scouts to the other end and pass up the whole length of the pitch for a score.
    One small difference I notice is the figures are different colours. In my set the humans were blue, orcs red, dwarves orange and elves yellow.

    The modern equivalent is Blitz Bowl also by GW. But in their ever infinite wisdom, it's only available from Barnes and Noble and possibly Game UK stores (I could be wrong). I had to import the ruddy thing into Singapore but once played it's simple enough to teach a 10 year old.. plus it uses the same models from Big Boy Blood Bowl. They did the same thing with Kill Team in the form of Fireteam. It's great for newbies and getting kids into the game but again, GW only sells these through Barnes and Noble. Sigh.. and yes.. I did post this before I watched the end so that's my bad... BTW... love the videos..

      I play Blood Bowl Sevens with my kids (7 and 10) but it would be a lot easier with Blitz Bowl cos the Sevens rules are hidden in the back of Death Zone. Like it would be nice to be able to get out a boxed game in that context.

    • @TheInappropriateness
      @TheInappropriateness Před 2 lety +1

      @@ted_splitter I imported it and in all honesty, it wasn't that much extra. It's worth it cause the rules take 20 minutes to read and it's easy to explain to a child. Plus it's has enough depth with extra cards to use most of the existing teams that are on sale. Additionally, they also put out similar "baby" editions of kill team and warcry with the same amount of ease as Blitz Bowl. Both baby versions of killteam (fireteam) and warcry (bladeborn) keep VERY similar rule sets to their "grown up" versions so that going to kill team and warcry make it a breeze. I'm very surprised that GW aren't pushing these as starter box sets as they play very well. And it's not the old kill team but the new one so it's even better. I'm no GW shill by any stretch of the imagination but these are good fun games to learn and play in an hour or 2.

      Actually the backstory for Blood bowl itself kinda implies that the battle between dwarves and orcs that lead to the discovery of the ancient stadium and the sport itself takes place in some unknown time well into the future from the years that would lead up to the End Times, could be centuries or even mellinium afterwards but nothing has ever confirmed when the events of Blood Bowl takes place since it clearly happens in the Warhammer Fantasy world or atleast a version of it but the back story clearly indicates that the relationships between races was pretty much identical to that of Warhammer Fantasy proper i.e. near constant war between them with only the invention of Blood Bowl ending the need for most traditional conflicts in favor of settling most disputes on the field of play. (though it's implied if not outright stated that plenty of wars still happen in the background especially during off seasons just not as many nor hopefully as destructive as before)

    Definitely give Bloodbowl 7s a go. It's a much faster and arguably more engaging way to play Bloodbowl. Unfortunately you'll still need to learn Bloodbowl, but the beauty of Bloodbowl is that once you learn the rules, they tend to be usable regardless of the editions spanning decades.

    Please get into Blood Bowl guys. I love all of your videos but I actually play Blood Bowl whereas I haven't played 40K since the 1990s when I was at school.
    Many reasons to love Blood Bowl. The miniatures are GREAT and it's easy to start collecting cos you commit to a team of 11-16 players rather than a whole army (I painted 22 teams over lockdown).
    The basic rules are pretty simple, I think tackle zones can be confusing but like, it is way simpler than a lot of games, and while there are a lot of player skills to keep on top of, you only *really* need to understand the skills your own players have (although it's wise to have some familiarity with your opponent's skills too for obvious reasons). And there's Blood Bowl Sevens which is even quicker and sometimes sillier and only takes about an hour to play. My favourite GW game. Do a couple of teams each and run your own 2-coach tournament, I reckon.

    There are 3 Universal Truths: 1. Everything is impermanent and changing 2. Impermanence leads to suffering, making life imperfect and 3. Every single GW game has an "Only Dick's Play This" Faction, in this case, Dwarfs.

    I always thought GW should have written into the Warhammer Fantasy lore that in the Fantasy World use to be peaceful as everyone played Blood Bowl but then it got all out of hand as matches got fixed and the rivalry between teams escalated and eventually all out war broke out, which is Warhammer fantasy battles :)

    • @Bluecho4

      I like the idea of an alternate version of the End Times, where instead of the world being destroyed, peace was declared. And all the violence and rivalries instead play out on the Blood Bowl field.

      That's basically the entire lore of Blood Bowl, before the game it was typical apocalyptic wars between races but now they settle most conflicts through the sacred game as decreed by Nuffle, god of the field of play. Though it is implied if not outright stated that traditional wars still happen, especially between the seasons of the sport but there's just not as many anymore and (hopefully) not nearly as destructive.

    Thanks for the video; never played either Kerrunch or Blood Bowl myself, but I did play Warhammer Fantasy. What I find odd here is that one team is made up of Orcs and Elves. Now Orcs and Dark Elves would have made sense, but these models are very clearly Wood Elves. Ah well, maybe there were no plastic Dark Elves so they just included the Elves they had...
