Lithium batteries DO get hot plus the air that is aloud to run past them keeps them cool enough. Wrapping up the new lithium pack you are creating an insulation blanket basically. They could get super hot and melt your scooter or even fire, plus shortening their life as they are running too hot.

You would simply increase the run time by a LOT with a 50ah.
Make sure not to cheap out and get the best you can if you have not already.
Edit: just make sure you keep an eye on motor and battery temps, especially the brushed motor which is not made for running to hot for to long but if you ride with care it should not be a problem and most Lithium batteries come with a charger at the price point.

I just swapped my 4 lead for a lithium. About how far can I go now? I’m a 70 yr old female, love my Scoot! With the lead batteries, I could go about 15 miles if I went slow. 10-12 full out. Lol had to push home a couple times, no fun. Your 27 miles, was that on pavement? Most of my riding is dirt/desert roads. The swap out was a breeze. Now, I can’t wait to ride again!

I bought two batteries and they both don't fit because it is slightly too tall with one stacked on the other and the lid doesn't close completely. I tested the batteries by driving around the entire Manhattan island in NY and was able to get exactly 42 miles on the brand new battery before having to switch to my second battery. I was using mixed speeds as I encountered street lights and pedestrians. Hope this helps others interested in doing this mod.

This scooter comes from a different technological era and was built using a much different design philosophy. It is most robust, less advanced; more modular, heavier and will feel a lot more solid than most modern electric scooters. However as far as specs are concerned and technology implemented it is considered obsolete. It is all about your preference. If you want something that feels more substantial abusable solid and offroad capable then get this; for greater performance, range, less weight more power, more efficiency yet more expensive to buy and fix then get something newer.

Thank you Jason Evo, this vid has changed my life! I've become a man obsessed & surf bat tech sites, blogs & forums for hours every day for several weeks now. Trying like Hell to absorb this battery knowledge but man, there is so much to learn. After the last few weeks, mad props & respect to you JE! OK so here's my deal and ?'s. I too have the Uber 1600 & f ing luv it. With the SLA's I'm lighting up the Mauna Lani Resort security radar at 31mph & getting about 6 mi. before red light. But I need more SPEED & a little more distance. 1. what kind of performance would you expect from 15ah and 20ah li ion's? I'm thinking 10 to 20 miles but more concerned if top mph would also be lower? 2. is there anything bigger than the 25ah that would give more mph without risk of burning it up? 3.With all the knowledge you've gained and evolution in the batt biz what would be the batt you'd buy if you bought one today? 4. Being in Hawaii it appears I might have haz mat shipping issues, possibly less with LiFePo4. How would speed and distance differ from a Li ion? 5. One last one....& none of my biz but I'm really curious, has Ali express compensated you in any way? That is not meant as a ? of ur character or to taint ur opinion because I've surfed 100's of these batts literally & the one u link to is still the cheapest quality 48v 25ah available. The reason I asked that is because if they're not compensating you then they should be, I know they gotta be selling hela batts just from this vid alone. Rock on Jason Evo!

      @Scentedstyle  Před 6 lety +2

The 15ah and 20ah would increase your speed and distance but not much. Like you said your battery shows the red light after 6 miles and slows down slowly, the lithium would last you that full 15 to 20 miles of full speed with no decrease of power till it just cuts off when dead. When you switch to lithium your scooter automatically increases speed by 3-5Mph. The best way to understand lithium is with the ah when you see 20ah or 25ah it means distance so for example the 25ah is 25 miles in distance of high speed the slower your speed the longer you ride. My 25ah gets me a distance of 27miles at 35-39Mph. With the eco mode top speed at 15Mph I get between 37-42miles of distance. If I could buy the perfect battery I would buy the 48v 35ah it don’t get better than that, you’ll get tired before that battery dies. If you want to max out your scooter change the 57 tooth gear to a 44 tooth gear, speed will increase by 5-7 miles. Coming from someone that’s been searching all over on how to make my scooter as fast as possible, you really don’t want any scooter faster than 40mph as the parts at a higher speed can come loose and at that speed you can easy crash or loose control. Right now your top speed is 31mph with only 6 miles of high speed and 4 miles of slow speed. You just need to upgrade the distance with a lithium battery. It will not drop speed you get that full power till the end. For electric scooters from my understanding it’s better to have a li-ion than LiPo as it’s lighter holds more power and has no memory effect. The downside about li-ion if you buy some cheap knockoffs they might explode on you, it’s always best to buy from a known brand. AliExpress doesn’t pay me for anything nor have they sponsored me for this video. I only posted this because it was the best and cheapest. This might be the cheapest but it’s also from an AliExpress trusted seller. I my self looked all over on CZcams to make my scooter faster with no help so I decided to post the video after trial and error hoping it might help someone else. I’m happy to know you found this video somewhat helpful. Thank you and I hope you get the best experience out your scooter.

You're so Awesome Jason! The reason I hoped you were making a little somethin' from all the referrals is because I feel guilty acquiring all this knowledge for free. Probably a longshot but if u ever come to Hawaii (Big Island) you can have the uber 1600 for as long as ur here & it's a fun place to scoot. So just to make sure I'm hearing u exactly, I would still get the same boost to 35-37mph with a lithium of lesser ah? Because I really have no distance needs beyond 6-10 miles, just want to go all out all the way. Obviously have to be of similar wattage output, etc. I'm so excited it's stupid! Thank you Jason.

Last ?, I promise. How does wattage output affect the performance? the batteries for sale state max watt motor, say 48v 20ah li ion that states 1000w or 1200w, how would that affect the performance on the uber 1600? thx

Sorry about the late response. I was going to suggest you get the Same battery I got because when I tried my Ebikes battery 48v 17.5ah I only got 2mph faster but lasted for a longer ride . If you get a battery for a 1000w or 1200w your motor won’t get the full power needed to go faster. I looked everywhere for the best battery but most importantly the cheapest. You did good getting this battery you will be very happy, it should arrive faster than stated.

Would you be kind enough to tell me if there's any heating problems or any sort of danger after upgrading to the lithium batteries? because i'm definitely ordering them if they are safe. Also, how much extra speed did yo u get after upgrading. Cheers.

Thank You. Yes you are correct the Manual on my Uberscoot said Chaos 48v not uberscoot so it is Chaos just a different name. The only thing that overheats is the red positive wire for the battery but that was my fault as i didn’t fully secure the connections i adjusted it now no overheat. Lithium is actually safer than lead acid. I went from 27-33mph to 35-40mph

I actually have a different controller on my scooter it has all the same connections as the original except the wire for the throttle battery light indicator. thats why i never mention it because i know people wont want a controller that will turn off the battery indicator but since my scooter goes 27 miles i know i will get tired before the battery reaches half way. This controller has more Electric Current at 40A i know the original is either 30a or close. here is the link: goo.gl/VyNRGz

I’ve had the same uberscoot for 5 years & wouldn’t trade it for anything. A friend gave me a brand new 48v 10ah li-ion battery to which I plugged it right in & works fine but doesn’t seem to have as much life as I thought it would. After riding 3-4 miles on flat road, using mostly econo mode with occasional full throttle, battery indicator is yellow/red eventually all red. The only difference I can see is the controller wires are thicker than battery wires. Would that make a diff? Fuses are fine, connections are ok. Any thoughts? Thanks

    • @Scentedstyle

It is faster because your normal lead acid battery couldn't provide enough current to the 1600W motor. It needs 1600W/48V=33.33 A to run on full speed.
Your lithium-ion battery can do:" Maximum Continuous Discharge Current (A)
50A" it is good because you are not fully using all off(just 33.33/50=66%) it therefore it is not heating up so quickly while you are running on full speed. The life expectancy will be higher as well. The only downside is the price in my opinion. Great video bro :D

solomon henry Usually, a 48v system can handle 52 volts fine, and you get a noticeable extra punch in power. I havent tried 52v on an actual Uberscoot, but i have on drift trikes and ebikes and it’s hard to go back to 48v after going 52v. But for the Uberscoot, do you really need more power than a 48v lithium pack will provide?
