Very nice DIY fix for this issue. We are actually coming out with a product that will essentially do the same thing, except it will also solve any other issues with the AWD not working. For example, if you went through this process and your AWD still didn't work, then it could be an issue with the switch on the handlebar, the electrical connections to the front diff, etc. With our Polaris AWD Switch Bypass, it will provide power directly to the front diff and skip the "middle men" so to speak. So as long as there isn't any issue with the front diff, our product will get you into AWD. The switch provided in our kit also has a illuminated button that is on when the AWD is engaged. Visit our website to learn more and get yours today!

Just an FYI, that Box wire you changed is a CDI box wire, has nothing to do with the AWD. You may just have gotten lucky it getting it to work.

Exactly, those wires he was pointing at with his screwdriver are the wires that go from the stator to the CDI box and voltage regulator. He needs to "step away from the screwdriver"...

Was your speedometer not working as well? I hear the AWD and speedometer are somehow connected.

      Wondering the same thing....

The speedo was still working fine.

That doesn't make sense to me for the awd to not work if the speedo doesn't work. My Polaris sportman 400 ho 04 awd has been working for a year with the speedo broken and now the awd doesn't want to work going to try the ground and see what happens

@@Chris-kv6zo For someone who may have this question in the future: the instrument cluster grounds the AWD coil in the front differential. Upon exceeding a set speed, the cluster opens the ground. This will prevent the machine from being driven or switched to AWD at higher speeds. Grounding the coil directly eliminates the cluster but will allow higher speed AWD operation.

Hey man, you can’t run a Polaris on jet fuel! That will ruin your engine.
