    My landlord let me change my rent due date because I get paid monthly and pay day falls in the middle of the month.

      hrblocked That’s Great! Easier with a landlord as s/he sets their own rules. However property management companies have strict guidelines set for tenants. Thanks for sharing!

    I'll never rent an apartment again. Got evicted for nearly $800 of late fees including a month to month lease fee. They had omitted to us for several months that we owed more than our regular 480 payment. They say it wasn't included in the invoice or amount when we called the office because it was in our year lease. ($100 fee after month to month) They kept accepting rent. We paid rent on month 6 of the month to month lease and they told us they used it for the "balance" on the account, which we didnt know about until the 5 day pay notice of 800 left after they applied rent. Of course we couldn't afford that. They had a clause in the lease that says the reps in the office are not responsible for misinformation or inaccuracies. So the office can straight up lie to you or be negligent about your rent and then evict you for it. Never. Again. Bed bugs. Then hundreds of roaches. Office refused to treat roaches because of bed bugs (which we no longer had) and then sent us an eviction notice. This shouldnt be allowed and I have to suffer for 11 years with it. That clause is in every lease for apartments (in AZ. Not sure about other states) and it's a loop hole for bad landlords. I thought I'd share my story so people can keep an eye out for that in their own lease. 2 years later the apartment is still unoccupied.

    Do you have to pay your deposit for buying an apartment? If you do, do you have to pay it in cash?

    So I just had an apartment tour a few days ago but I had to tour a different room with the same floor plan because the one that’s actually becoming available soon has a tenant in it that “won’t allow for tourings in his room”. Is that a red flag? Because although it’s the same layout, there could still be problems with the actual room..

    Thank you so much the video was really helpful. I'm honestly just afraid of our rent going up after a lease is over. Do you know if renters are protected by that sort of behavior, and if so, where could we check for that information?

    • @ross4
      @ross4 Před 2 lety +2

      You have to look up your local laws, because every city has different rules on when landlords can increase rent, and by how much.

    So what do you do if you start renting a place and a month or two down the road, you want your boyfriend to move in? Do you immediately have to have him approved and added to the lease? Or do you have a grace period where he can live there without being on the lease?

    • @RealtorLeahRobinson
      @RealtorLeahRobinson  Před 4 lety +5

      Bri m you have up to 14 days for a guest to stay with you. If he will be living there, yes he needs to do an application with the apartment. :)

    What happens in the case of military orders or deployment causing you to break the lease early? Have you experienced that and not put on a persons record. I believe it’s protected.

    • @JordanWthereal
      @JordanWthereal Před 4 lety +1

      From I research of watching other stuff, if that's a possibility, I'd ask to put it in the lease or something if it's not there.

    • @RealtorLeahRobinson
      @RealtorLeahRobinson  Před 4 lety +7

      Skyler Stewart Great question! Yes, I have experienced this. As long as you provide documentation of your deployment you can break the lease without penalty.

    Warning … make sure AC is working. Well this is interesting but it’s nothing as bad as the Soltra apartments in Gilbert Arizona( a Greystar Community) that I recently leased and moved me into a space with AC not working through the month of July and August and for six weeks did nothing to fix the issue. During Arizona’s hottest time of the summer. Its outside my comprehension as to how they could do this and did nothing to compensate me during that period that I paid for. My French Bulldog struggled to breathe…. Should have been considered an emergency but zero action to fix the problem. In addition to the AC not functioning properly the oven did not work as well as the floors were slanted at an angle causing symptoms of vertigo. Its been a nightmare in every sense. Hard to believe they are able to hurt ppl like this, and get away with it. Greystar has shown no integrity and I just moved out of the space today and sharing this very real inhumane nightmare experience.

    • @RealtorLeahRobinson

      The new owners basically purchased your lease and you are responsible for the lease. You may have an out if they are breaching the terms in any way.
