Plot

One of these swans turns into a human woman, Odette, at night. She is a swan during the day due to a curse from the devil Rothbart.
Act II:
Odette and Prince Siegfried meet, and Siegfried swears his love to her. However, the devil Rothbart is watching this scene. Odette asks Siegfried to save her.
Act III:
At a ball at the palace, Siegfried meets Odile, who resembles Odette. Odile is Rothbart's daughter, and has disguised herself as Odette to deceive Siegfried. Siegfried is tricked into swearing his love to Odile, and Odette is devastated when she sees this.
Act IV:
Siegfried realizes his mistake and asks Odette for forgiveness. However, the curse is not lifted, and the two of them throw themselves into the lake together to die. Their sacrifice lifts the curse, and Odette and Siegfried are united forever.
