Or the crash of waves upon distant seas.
Poetry resides in a lover's sigh,
And in the echoing laughter that good friends cry.
It's the tip tap of footsteps on a lonely street,
And the rhythm of raindrops, that are soft and discreet.
It's the flutter of butterfly wings in the morning light,
And the hush of the twinkling stars in the velvet night.
Poetry is the language of the heart,
Where emotions and words entwine and never depart
The deepest of truths that prose can't convey,
Yet in poetry, find their perfect way.
Poetry is the whisper of the wind through ancient trees,
And the dance of fireflies on warm summer eves.
It's the melody of birdsong at the crack of dawn,
And the serenade of crickets as night lingers on.
It's the brush of fingertips on a lover's skin,
And the echo of memories that will always stay within.
Poetry lies in the silence between words,
In the unsaid emotions that are caged like birds.
It's the ache of longing in a farewell embrace,
