  • This is how to Troubleshoot an HVAC Electrical Fan Relay! I go over how to read the ratings for time, how to read the resistance, where to connect the 24v, how to read the wiring diagram, how to test the component, how to know what contacts are normally open and normally closed when non-powered as well as other tips! Supervision is needed by a licensed HVAC Tech before doing this as Experience and Apprenticeship garners Wisdom and Safety.

      @@acservicetechchannel Quick question I notice That when I check My super heat outdoors it tends to be higher then when I check it indoors. What should my super heat range be when checking outdoors? I typically check it at the vapor line coming out from the air handler for an accurate reading

    • @acservicetechchannel
      @acservicetechchannel  Před 5 lety

      The total superheat should be very close within a degree or 2 of the superheat unless the vapor line is picking up heat on the way outside such as in a hot attic. How long is the line set and does it run through the attic, thanks!

    Is the fan relay and lockout relay the same thing?

  • @johnbass7551

    Help... Last week my furnace stopped. I noticed that I wasnt hearing the normal clicking of the relay. Ive swapped out my relay with three other ones (no change). Ive also switched the larger transformer. With the original transformer and base, my zone valves would heat up (still no pump), but the replacement one did not energize the zone valves so I switched back. From what I can tell, my thermostats are working (I hear the zone valves engage and they heat up [to the touch]), and we've jumped the pump and know it works. Im stumped.

    Nice job once again sir! I was wondering if you may be doing a video on defrost of heat pumps and how to test them? Thank you again for taking the time to do this.

    • @acservicetechchannel
      @acservicetechchannel  Před 5 lety

      Line duty switch? Are you talking about, general purpose relay, ice cube relay, sequencer, fan relay, fan limit relay, 5 minute delay? I have videos on each of these. What is the exact name of the rely you are looking for?

    0.0 ohms of resistance is good across 2 & 4 and 5 & 6 when the contact is closed? But it's not good on the low voltage side 1&3 and that would mean it's burnt together and OL means burnt apart?

    • @acservicetechchannel
      @acservicetechchannel  Před 7 lety +2

      4 to 5 is normally closed, 2 to 4 is normally open. When it is powered it is the opposite. Your observation is right on the money! 1 and 3 should have some resistance if the coil is intact and 0.0 is burn't together, 0.L is the coil burn't apart. Great!

      Yeah it was a video in the heat pump playlist section. You were talking about how to take resistance on the outdoor fan. My CZcams app is really glitchy and freezing up a lot not sure what's going on.

    If they're corroded and you Pierce down instead of cleaning it aren't you just looking past a potential source of high resistance in the circuit?
