    How does the intake work with a set up like this? Like where does the original air come from for combustion if the throttle body is connected to the charge pipe / intercooler?

    • @Kamshaft
      @Kamshaft  Před 4 měsíci +1

      It gets sucked into the turbo (small cone filter on the turbo inlet) charged by the turbo & send through the intercooler to be cooled, then into the throttle body, intake & engine to be burned for combustion.

    Wouldn't twin turbos be better than a single turbo?

    • @Kamshaft
      @Kamshaft  Před rokem +13

      Depends what your looking for, twins are a lot cheaper, but much more of a complex setup & a nightmare to work on. So in my opinion single is the way to go, Here’s a few more reasons why! The twin turbos just don’t flow as much air compared to a big single, they are K03 turbos, just little babies. The torque from the twins will feel amazing and come on strong, but you will run out of power in the high rpm’s. Running upgraded twins will also put alot more low rpm torque/stress on all your components, this is when driveshafts, transmissions & connecting rods are more prone to failure. By making all your power up top with a single we can make more power (@ high rpm’s) much more safely than an upgraded twin setup & reducing a lot of that low end rpm torque that will be hard on things. The sound of a big single is amazing, sounds like a fighter jet spooling up.
      The single turbo setup really just gets rid of most of the garbage bolted to this motor & opens the door to big power.

    • @qx4n9e1xp
      @qx4n9e1xp Před rokem +2

      Kamshaft couldn't have said it better.
      Upgraded twins: You get waay more torque in the low rpm range, and decent mid-to-high rpm power.
      Twins are cheaper, even the most expensive hi-flowing twins are cheaper than an entry-level single. However, it is unanimously agreed upon than that single turbo setups are way more reliable.
      Both the single turbo & the engine will last longer, than upgraded twins, or the engine with upgraded twins.
      If you go upgraded twins, you have to keep your power/torque lower than 550/600 wheel (under 25psi) to be safe, OR build your engine to withstand the torque (which costs an extra $6-8k on top of $4k upgraded twins)
      So it's smart to go single if you want to keep your stock engine. A single will feel a bit slower and laggy in the lower rpms, but then it gets WICKED, and you can push 700hp all day, reliablg. You'll be killing newer cars like Hellcats, Mustangs, M3s/M4s on a 12+ year old engine with a $6-7k single turbo.

      @@Kamshaft depending on the size of the upgraded twins, I've heard you're actually most likely to blow your trans on a high boost stock turbo setup because they spool REALLY low like 2k rpm. My pure stage 2 spool a bit under 3k while the XL twins can be around 3.5k.
