    Giving me bad flashbacks of when I used to work for that tyrant of a company. Wouldn’t recommend, worst few months of my life. I didn’t mind the driving and delivering aspect of it. It’s just that my managers were constantly up everyone’s rear end, tracking us, watching us, not mention being underpaid. Now I work as a legit truck driver delivering bigger packages and the pay is way better.

    When I was working at Amazon as a delivery driver in Canada, I had 165+ stops and 250+ packages every day delivering in residential areas and when I got "promoted" to working in the downtown area, I averaged 70 - 90 stops with over 250+ packages. From what I've seen from our US counterparts, Amazon is more lenient on your packages and stops.
    Great video, this is exactly what it was like working for amazon.

      That depends on dsp in the area.. here in washington state most of our drivers are averaging 160-190 stops and between 250-400 packages.. especially through peak season which is the holidays at the end of the year..

    Wish our package count would be reduced! My DSP has strictly residential neighborhoods (some businesses) and we average 150-190 stops a day with 300+ packages. Insane amount of group stops. This beats a rural country route with 80 stops in my opinion though, I get done way earlier in residential rather than the rural low stop count routes.

I can just freely spend my time as long as I get the job done and I never really feel exhausted after a day, I've had a couple of retail jobs and whatnot and while I got used to that kind of lifestyle I just can't imagine going back, even commuting and stuff like that would feel annoying.

      Mood. I'm a respiratory therapist and we just do our round, which takes maybe an hour to an hour and a half, then we chill out for the next three or so hours until the next round which tends to be even shorter. Of course shit can hit the fan and it's all hands on deck at a moment's notice, but it's not too often and, IMO, usually just spices things up and makes the night go by faster.
      Also sometimes you'll have a difficult critical patient that requires "babysitting" since they may be fairly unstable and doctors are constantly changing things until they get to a stable point.
      My first job was in a grocery store where I had the same sort of 2x 15 minute breaks and one 30 minute break he says in the video while having to be constantly working at all other times and I cannot imagine doing that again. I'd lose my fucking mind. On the flipside, a delivery driver or say a merchandiser for Coke or something sounds like a relatively chill time as you're on your own for the most part driving around to places.

    • @rawolf1475
      @rawolf1475 Před rokem +3

      Basic job interview out the gate - tell us about yourself, tell us about your current/past job, what challenges did you have there, how did you overcome those challenges; then can you handle a lot of stress - a fair warning of the stress involved - can you drive a large van, lift, bend, twist, climb, etc. Don’t take it overly serious, but be ready for a fair warning about the stressfulness of delivery, as it came up about every other sentence in my experience.
      Oh, and don’t be surprised if you’re not in a 1-on-1 office setting; be prepared to interview in a giant break room around a bunch of other drivers and warehouse workers. 😁

      90% of Amazon DSPs don’t even do an interview maybe some will do it over the phone. Apply on indeed with a BS resume you’ll get a text from a sketchy phone number instantly. They’ll do a background check and give you a link to a LabCorp for a drug test and you’ll start your 3 day Amazon training within the week.

    • @novemberly.677
      @novemberly.677 Před rokem +1

      Generally, the dispatch center will locate another driver near you that is falling behind in their route and send you over to them to do a "rescue". Basically, you'll take a few totes from them to lighten their load and ensure all of the packages are delivered on-time. Sometimes though, the other drivers are all doing okay and you'll go home early!
