In this video I’m going to show you how to use the DISASTER AREA DMC.micro PRO midi pedal to start and stop your drum rhythms from the BOSS RC-5 looper.

hey! I use de DMC as well but my goal is to set it up so that I can can scroll through the memory of the RC-5. For some reason it just scrolls randomly, jumping to random memory slots each time I press either the left or right switch in the DMC. Do you have any idea why this happens? What am I doing wrong here?
@@baobiaomusic Hi. Sorry you’re having this trouble. I would do a factory reset. Pretty simple. Then follow along step by step what I did in the video. Sinking up the memories should work seamless.
No but looking for a footswitch to stop and start my TR8s. Not sure what would work If anything
@@buschovski1 I got the DMC.micro because it's small and simple. It should work with any midi functions the TR8 has? If there's a 1/4, try the Boss FS-5U. Not familiar with the TR8. Looks cool.

It's amazing to me, that Boss Never rectified the Massive Drum Volume Issue with a global-setting / firmware update ??? ( major fail for this looper ).
I understand what you're saying. It would be cool to have one overall volume for the drums as well as the individual levels of each of the 100 scenes that it does have. I'm ok with adjusting the volumes separately. That's just me and what I use the pedal for. Others like yourself beg to differ. Thank you for the comment. Good point.
@@JerryCherryBand When you 1st create a Loop, = The Volume either Blows your head off ( with headphones ) or Damages your speaker's ( if going thru amp or monitors ). Many, many complaints on this topic.

Not sure but I don't think you have to write to the memory location when changing the CC# action as it applies to all memory locations.

I’m about to see if I can use my dmc.micro to stop the rhythm and loop independently. I hope I can do it with short presses though.

I was attempting to have the rhythm start stop instantly with the DMC.micro but didn’t succeed. I’ll have to keep trying. Let me know how it goes.

Hi Jerry. Many thanks for this mate. I'm hoping you can help. I followed all the steps you outlined here but the only thing the pedal seems to be able to do is control the memory increase and decrease, which I'm guessing is a kind of preset default. I was hoping to have the button on the right increase memory but the one on the left be track stop. Can you please help?? Not sure what I'm doing wrong! Cheers!
Hi Eric. The way I describe setting this up the left and right buttons will change the memory up or down. That's helpful but the more important thing for me was to be able to start and stop the drum rhythm. I set it so that pressing and holding the left button starts the rhythm, and pressing and holding it again stops it. I wish it did that instantaneous on the press but it's not the way it's set. To stop the full loop/track my FS7 is set to do that. Perhaps in the RC5 setting where I described setting the start/stop of the drum rhythm, you can set that to start/stop the loop?
Hi Jerry. Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. I did try what you suggest here (i.e. set the 80 command to track stop), but it still only does memory increase and decrease. It seems from what I've researched that for instantaneous action from this midi pedal the rc-5 needs an additional message. I.e. as well as the cc of 80-87 it needs an on or off value. I've tried this with the X Util facility toggle option but to no avail. I've written Disaster Area about this but haven't heard yet. If I figure it out I'll let you know!

Hey Jerry. Got it working! The trick is to use the X Util. mode and set it up to send the command you want, along with a low of 0 and a high of 127 at the same time. The type of command needs to be return (not toggle etc.) and the pedal needs to be in XUtil mode, which you enter by holding down the right button. Then anything you assign to the relevant commands (I use 80 and 81) works! Let me know.

Let’s say I set the footswitch to “MEMORY INC”.
If I’m playing memory01 then press that footswitch (so it changes to memory02), will it continuously play memory02 right away?
Or I have to press the pedal again to play that memory02 loop?
If it plays right away, I could use memory01 as the verse section, and memory02 as the chorus section.
This is a killer feature for me and I can’t see anyone demo it. I really wanna know if it works before buying the RC-5 + footswitch combo.

Yes. That will work. You can program different parts on different RC5 memory scenes then go up or down on the MIDI FS to change them instantly. Thank you for the question.
