Thanks guys for that excellent review and the heads up on the discount with Warp9Racing. I have a custom Talaria mx4 build and I used warp9 wheels for that custom supermoto look. Nice wheels I recommend the elite wheels!
Thanks for watching!
love your videos, will take advantage of warp9's BF discount for a set of 16/19's, at 5'8" the smaller feel is much more fun for me up on the granite and through the trees in the Sierras, can go places I don't even attempt on my DRZ when riding my Surron so should be even better on my new Sting with 16/19.
Great idea! You’ll love that size at 5’8
Another great video! Besides wheel size benefits, I chose to upgrade for rim locks. With my 21/18 wheels and rim locks that afford low pressure, my Sting is pretty formidable in most terrain. Thanks, again for that great video.
Thanks for watching!
We are currently looking at land in Utah to park our 5th wheel on and spend the summers up there and the winters in Texas....maybe Arizona. I love seeing the country side and seeing exactly how I'd want to ride this bike. Down here in Houston we have a LOT of MTB trails in the woods I love to terrorize >< Great vids man
Amazing place to ride.
Damn, I need trails like that where I live
Metal protectant for your chain gee I see how ruff the mountain is straight up
Wow great place to ride we have nothing like that in ct . Thanks for the wheel information.👍
Thanks for watching!
We’ve got a few good parks and plenty of hidden gems in ct ya just gotta know where to find em 😉
Hope you guys do a video on the new Talaria Dragon, great content as usual!
got my ERide pro SS yesterday ...burning laps in my neighborhood ....cant wait for offroad .....
Sweet! How do you like it? Anything wrong with it?
@@Ebbrush3 Promo...lol
Have you thought about trying extended axle blocks, I've heard they help improve the offroad feel a lot
We haven’t tried any but would like too! Maybe an extended swing arm is in our future as well 🤫
You forgot to mention the KTM 85 fork conversion as an option to handle the 21" wheel setup :) which hopefully I should be able to test soon. Great content as always and was nice getting individual feedback on these different wheel setup.
We didn’t really forget to mention it, we don’t like it. It’s twice the weight for an EXT fork, and way more expensive. So many people we know that went that route are going back to the ext Ferro. And yes we’ve ridden one with a kTM 85 front end.
@@Talariaboys Was just teasing a bit when I said you forgot ;) If you can afford it, yeah EXT Ferro seems by far the best option for lighter bikes like Sting/Lightbee (as this guy who reverted from 85 to Ferro on LightBee: czcams.com/video/vfZBYCGBGVI/video.htmlsi=8aDUxpqUDKJmy728 ).
For bigger bike like UltraBee or KTM freeride, WP43 air fork are probably better choice and regarding cost, I'd say it depends: if going with used part like I did, it is possible to stay below half price of the Ferro (otherwise definitely not worth the hassle to do it) not to mention you also get real brakes!
I'll see how it performs on my Sting but I expect the bike as you said to feel too heavy. I don't plan leaving it on this bike though, more probably gonna switch to bigger ebike later, hoping I can reuse it.
Can you make a video that better explains the rear suspension differences on the talaria xxx and sting. Thanks
The basic difference is that the Sting has a linkage in the rear and the xxx does not. So the xxx has less travel and doesn’t feel as plush to ride as the Sting.
My biggest issue is stiff ride on sting r(fast ace) 19s
Hey, great video! Could you please give more info on that linkage u talked? Im in Europe, struggle to find something alike. 10:21 thanx!
Your just looking for a Talaria Sting MX3 Lower linkage , it looks a little different, you don't need to purchase from there but this is exactly what its supposed to look like.ebikezilla.com/en/suspension/59010-replacement-swing-arm-linkage-triangle-talaria-sting-mx3-42700-56000-000-talaria.html
I would be interested in seeing what types of tunes y’all are running along with the stats you’re getting.
We may do a video on this in the future
Great Video guys! Quick question! How do you guys transport your bikes? and is talaria going to be making a new sting in 2024?
We usually put them in the back of Reeds f150 long bed and they fit really nice when we ride together, I (Lance) have a single place moto rack that I use when I ride alone. I'm sure Talaria is always cooking up something but we do not know if there will be another upgraded Sting in 2024
Good info!! fyi the 18/21 wheel set from Luna is $600 not 400
Yes we know, we realized too late after filming.
I want to see you guys talk about the Talaria Dragon 😁
got my ERide pro SS yesterday ...burning laps in my neighborhood ....cant wait for offroad .....
Coming
Firat half of the video confirms my plan of getting a 21" up front. Second half tells me it wont work with my Dorado. Now im thinking 16" rear, but the stock front wheel blows on steep, loose, turns. Maybe i would rather have a flexy fork?
Haha it will work with your Dorado but will just flex a little more than it does now. Do you do any jumping or really hard riding?
would be cool if you guys put a pin drop in the description where the start of these trials are
That’s a good idea
I'm looking at getting 21/18 from Woody's Wheel Works for my Surron X. I had planned on getting a 1.60" front wheel, but I can't decide if I should get a 1.85" reach or a 2.15". What do you think?
Personally I would really recommend staying at 1.85 rear as its plenty large to fit the largest rear tires that fit on an 18. No need to make it larger. We would love to have you support us and purchase a set of wheels from our store if you are interested! You can use code (talariaboys) for a discount once you spec them out. I love seeing you boys in my home town :)
got my ERide pro SS yesterday ...burning laps in my neighborhood ....cant wait for offroad ......talaria bros will be getting theirs soon
Nice!!! We are stoked to ride one someday
I was definitely surprised and a little shocked to hear you. Compare the Manitou Dorado, and the fox 40 with the RST and DNM Forks. I spent a lot of money upgrading to the Dorado to go with a 21 front when my MX3 was new. When you say they flex a lot, do you mean twisting motion, or actual bending of the forks? I’m also wondering how the Chinese fast ace can be better than All those expensive forks you named?
Thanks for watching, I should have clarified in the video that I was not at all talking about fork performance and just flexiness, I also should have clarified that each of the forks in the flexy category are not the same...The manitou Dorado is the least flexy of all that I mentioned but that being said it still is not as stiff as the three I mentioned, The reason a cheap chinese fork could be stiffer is because its really beefy... A Dorado weighs 7.5lbs and a Fastace Weighs 12. Thats why, I'm just stating how things feel when we ride them, now a Dorado rides better of course but once your bike is 170lbs and you have a 21 its a noodle! I also mean bending and twisting.
I have a fast ace 2.0 and I was overtaking a audi a4 and it pulled out infront..the forks didn't bend and it flipped the bike over the car and was still fine... I had fast ace 1.0 crashed downhill into a side of a horse box and they bent instantly..
planning on going with a 16/19. Could I put the rear (19x1.6) on the front instead of the stock (19x1.4) for more traction?
Yes the extra rim width would fit but the rear wheel in general won’t as the hub is a rear hub and totally different.
I have been wanting a sting for a year, finally got to try one yesterday. Im 197cm tall, and i was kinda disapointed as the bike felt really unstable for my size. The seat was uncomfortable, i was kinda sore from driving 15 minutes. Its almost like my dream was vanished because of this. Will size upgrades fix this? My bare minimum is feeling half comfortable on it.
Your pretty dang tall man, at that point I’d really just get yourself a Surron Ultra Bee or wait for the new Talaria dragon coming out sometime middle of next year. Thats what I would do at your height. They are bigger bikes and will make you feel a lot more comfortable, if you got an ultra bee I’d throu a 21 inch wheel on the front and you’d be golden.
Quick question, with either of those setups are you running extended linkage?
No but we'd like to try something at some point
amazing video once again! quick question, i’m learning about all this stuff, im planning on buying a talaria XXX but it will take about a year for me to save up. do you think the bike will still be readily available online still for a good price and still be a good buy? thank you :)
Yes the xxx will still be a great bike a year from now. I can’t speak for the price or the availability but I don’t think it will change much.
Because you’re saving up for it you’ll get to see if any new bikes come out before you actually buy one. Then you can decide if you should get the xxx or a different one.
@@Talariaboys thanks a lot! do you know about if the price will change at all in the near future or any possible new releases from talaria or surron?
I don’t think the prices will change on the current offerings from Talaria anytime soon, and we haven’t heard of any replacements for the xxx coming.
How do you guys prepare for a flat on the road? Do you carry any tools or just hope for the best?!
We have to just hope for the best at this point, changing on of these tubes on the ride would take hours and a lot of tools.
@@Talariaboys do they have offroad setups inspired by tubeless mtn bikes? Where they use sealant inside?
Another great video
Where is the best and cheapest website I can buy a Talaria XXX
Id still buy from Luna Cycle in California because their's is the most powerful out of the box. Also if you like Red Id wait a week to purchase and you'll know why!
Y'all prefer to have tubes or go tubeless with that sealer stuff?
We just run tubes at this point
Did the mx3 linkage raise the seat height? Would buying an mx4 linkage for a mx3 improve the seat angle in your opinion?
That’s a great question, yes it raised it a little bit it’s only part of the changes the sting R has to fix the geometry, I bet an mx4 linkage would help a sting mx3!
@@Talariaboys Thanks man. Know anyone selling an mx4 linkage? I think Ebikezilla may have them.
Hey man we tried it and it’s really really tight in there with it being longer, we wouldn’t recommend it because it compresses the shock property bad.
@@Talariaboys Oh ok. Thanks for letting me know.
What about 19/18 ? i Was thinking using OEM front and 90/90/18 rear.
It ends up being really tall in the back and low in the front, a few people ride this way but we don't like it.
@@Talariaboys but 90/90/18 rear is not higher than oem 70/100/19. Is like rfn/beta
What tires do you run on the 18/21?
Dunlop Mx33 front and rear, 70-100-21 front/ 90-100-18 rear
also the Eride pro SR will be 84v .... 18 21 ..... coming in JAN for about $5900
Hows the power loss on each?
18/21 does lose a bit more power than 16/19 but not a drastic amount
Can't believe Talaria Boys sleeps on Dragon news.
We shared it all over Instagram and will make a short video on it soon.
Did the 19/16 drain the battery?
It drains it a bit faster than stock because the tires weigh so much more but no to bad honestly!
Could you link the mx3 linkage? Luna shows the part is the same for both bikes.
ebikezilla.com/en/suspension/59010-replacement-swing-arm-linkage-triangle-talaria-sting-mx3-42700-56000-000-talaria.html
Luna doesn’t sell it.
@@Talariaboys where can I get one?
I linked it in a message right above to E bike zilla…
Is the mx3 linkage better than the mx4 linkage? I'm a bit confused about that. They look the same ?
Where can I find the mx3 linkage ?

As a 6'2 guy who really wants to be comfortable when standing up riding, there shouldn't be any difference in the 16/19 wheel set and the 18/21. They both have a 3 inch difference in size. The only thing that changes is the difference from the bottom of the bike to the ground. (Not saying that one wheel set is better than the other, they both have their pros/cons, but in terms of how it feels when you stand up not wanting to be hunched, there is no difference)
I know what you mean but there is a feel difference for sure!
@@Talariaboys Thank you for the awesome content! I'm not trying to be a keyboard warrior haha
What is the difference in ground clearance between the two wheel sets? I’m running a 16/19 and I hit a lot of rocks…. Wondering how much a 18/21 set would gain in height?
@@davidflanagan7214 can’t give you an exact number cuz I only have a 16/19 but I’m sure that it will help with rocks with a bigger wheel set. $$$$!
I finally got rid of my stock tires. Slapped some shinko 241 on my stock wheels for when i want to mess around in the streets and minor trails, and have some milk racing 18/21s coming hopefully soon. My bombers are barely a year old and i know they have to get changed but im not very excited about spending ANOTHER 2k on the bike lol. Anyone want to buy some bombers lightly used?! Lol
Ya its a big cost but dang is it an upgrade. Do you ride offroad a lot? If not then you won't notice as much difference as someone who rides off-road a lot.
@@Talariaboys I pretty much use it strictly offroad. I only ride roads to get to the trails near my house
When u guys gonna do a full street build for the talaria sting r?
Not sure if we ever will… our builds are prefect for street too if you just throw on supermoto wheels which we actually do frequently.
First
