Can economists figure out Planned Obsolescence and that the depreciation of durable consumer goods should be part of the Net Domestic Product?
Ever notice that the Laws of Physics do not care about economics?
Years ago I asked a PhD economist from the University of Chicago to explain how an automobile engine worked. He could not even start. But he drove a white SUV.

Most of our innovation is going into improving our weapons of mass destruction. The military is the biggest employer in the world. Most people are employed trying to figure out how to destroy and kill. There is huge profit in the 'forever wars'. The world is in dire need of better, more humane leaders, ones who won't keep destroying humans and all life just to accumulate evermore wealth for themselves.

What you may have failed to grasp is that warfare has always been the mover of innovator going back centuries. It is not new evil, it's a universal reality.

@@davidpowelson4817 hope you don't mind if the innovators come for those you love then. We could innovate for solving mankind's persistent problems such as grinding poverty, lack of access to clean water, lack of food, diseases we have not found cures for etc. You don't need killing and wars to innovate.

@@davidpowelson4817when the 1% own everything, including natural resources like water, food and energy supplies and your wages don't keep up to afford the very basics of life, it's very hard to innovate and move forward. Add precarious work contracts to the mix and you get chronic instability. Very hard to work and innovate in such a nasty economic environment, dog eat dog. Add the decline of family to the toxic mix and you have chronic loneliness to add to it. A recipe for disaster I think. No wisdom whatsoever to be found in current leaders sadly.
