- Check out my review and install of Rydonair's 7 inch stubby antenna for 2009-2022 F150's. This antenna does everything your old whip antenna does without the ugly appearance and the potential damage to your radio by constantly hitting the oversized antenna up against branches and parking garages. I’m a little familiar with antennas but only in theories. AM reducing size can drastically increase or completely lose a signal especially in valleys. FM antennas are a different matter as the wavelength is much tighter. What I noticed on FM job site radios when new work exceptionally well however over time the flexible antenna (same design as your truck antenna) wears out over time. I speculate the coil construction inside gets spread apart, after putting on the cheapest Amazon replacement reception drastically improves until months/years of construction abuse.
I’ll bet the off-road antennas have same issue. If always on the pavement and hand washed where antenna isn’t tortured will give a lifetime of stellar performance. Go through car washes lots of off road abuse just like my job site radios will need a replacement.
Will it fit the 07 f150?
Didn’t know being a Ford imatters when it comes to antennas
Good review. So you just hand tight the antenna? Also see that they recommend removing before car wash...do people really do that?
Thank you! Yes, good hand tighten is all you need. lol, good question. No, nobody removes them for a car wash. That’s just a CYA thing for them IMO. I’ve had mine for over 3 years and have never had an issue. That includes several feet of snow and many high pressure car washes. Hope that helps.
@@AutoHeadz that most definitely helps and much appreciated👊 just got one and installed on my raptor. Thanks again!
@@blazing2557 Excellent! Jealous of your raptor! Enjoy.
Yesterday I went to a parking garage, and the antenna was scraping the ceiling, also, why are they so long! 🤦🏻♂️
Yeah man. Only time in my life I wish I had a few less inches.
Can you use for XM also?
xm has a separate antenna located somewhere else on the vehicle usually
It’s so weird dude my new light bars interfere with my radio. I don’t listen to it much but I was like strange lol
Hahaha that’s odd. Radios do very strange things.
@@AutoHeadz lol it’s funny. Your outtakes ate the end tho had me dying 🤣
The flies were killing me the whole time bro. It was BRUTAL! Lol
2021 GMC SIERRA?
That's because your antenna can and light bar cable are to close together.
