Hidden underneath the dash and tied to the airbag system, a black box records 2 to 5 seconds of pre-crash data like engine speed, brakes and accelerator.
Just realized why insurance companies always ask if the airbags deployed during a wreck. So they can send out one of these guys to see if you are at fault for driving recklessly or not.
Few lines of codes and it can store voices from inside of a car, and if you connect your phone to car it can access a lot of data, and again with few lines of code store it in black box. And best of all you can’t know it.
Wtf, "anticipates"? Even though I don't know how it works, I have the brain cells to assume it likely works like security camera systems: Continuous recording and deleting older data... stops recording when it detects a crash to not overwrite its data. It's not rocket science. And not conspiracy, "hmmm".
@Rudy Campos I would assume not. But don’t underestimate the ECM’s ability to log such things separately after a crash like a dash cam or something. Modern cars are getting smarter and smarter
Actually the only ones I've seen are in fact, black. The one in my pickup is under the passenger seat it is not only black but it is plastic, not metal or silver.
I would want to know how much this box costs, and would tell the dealer to remove the box from the car or deduct the cost of the box from the agreed price for the car.
@@mindcontrol31 Airbags have been around a lot longer than the black boxes. They can have airbags work without the boxes, if they cannot remove the box they can deduct the cost of the box from the agreed price.
The police can also access the data, meaning your personal vehicle can be used without your consent to provide evidence to the police... so much for the 5th amendment.

Yep
Talk about Invasion of privacy. Lol cars shouldn't have these unless asked for .

So they can hear your conversation?
In the little black box is a message from God
HOW CAN A RECORDER RECORD INFO BEFORE THE CRASH?
Does it anticipate an accident or does it record constantly?
Hmmmmm
+Maurice Johnson It constantly records and deletes stuff more than 5 seconds old

That’s why I have mine disconnected. Fuck all these airbags anyways. No reason a car need 10 airbags to begin with
Yeap

You're speaking like a true buyer. Consider however this action might be unlawful or require the insurance company to raise your premium
Airbags are required in these cars and they wont work without the box.
