@shaygobin757 I think we stopped seeing that after the 2014 World Cup but people think Cristiano and Portugal are the same, they're synonymous you cannot name one without the other. It annoys me. Portugal doesn't play for Cristiano and once they didn't entirely play for him Portugal won the Euros. Watch 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014, they played for Cristiano after that the team played with an identity, its just Santos wasn't the right man to lead Portugal.

For real I've been hearing the media call him finished from 2017 as well. Messi stopped winning Champions leagues and retired after failing so many times for Argentina and not a peep. A lot of people appear to forget Ronaldo was still very much recovering from the loss of his child at the last World Cup. I don’t think a lot of people realized how big of an impact that had on him and his family off the field. He looks to be in much brighter spirits now for both club and country.

The likes of Rafael Leao Diogo Jota Joao Felix Goncalo Ramos are very good attackers that are either approaching their prime or at the early stages of their careers, I still think that Cristiano Ronaldo is the most reliable player in the Portugal national team despite boasting a very good offense. Even if it’s just qualifiers against lower opposition he’s 38 years old and cannot stop scoring right now and what he’s doing is incredibly difficult but is just so good at scoring goals even at this age and a lot of people can say Portugal are a better team collectively without Ronaldo but with the form he’s in even if he plays in a league that’s less competitive is Roberto Martinez gonna drop him.
