You are priceless!🤗 I have learned so much from you. I am 72 and a retired teacher. When I was much younger I didn’t have the good sense to learn skills like canning from my grandmother. I am from Louisiana and I have always wanted to learn safe canning. These days with the economy we have now, it’s necessary. I live alone and there have been many times canning food would have been beneficial. Thank you for sharing. You are so right, never believe everything on the World Wide Web. I always tried to teach children how to be safe. By the grace of God, I am healthy for my age so canning I can do.❤️ Keep teaching us! Some of us need it.

I am the same , I am 64 recently and recently widowed. My daughter lives with me but with her work and social schedule she is not here all the time for meals and she does not eat any kind of dried bean. so cooking some just for me is a waste of food and energy so canning cooking a lot once then canning will work so well for me so I can have homemade beans for a meal.

I'm one of those "Jigglers" at almost 59. My Mirro will do something like 17 pints. A few years back, I saw a listing for an All American Canner for sale for $ 150. I had been looking at them and knew the price was far north of that. So I drove from north of Grand Rapids to Kalamazoo to buy it. The gal had bought it the previous canning season, canned a couple of times with it and...... was now in the process of selling most of her belongings because she was going to hike the North Country Trail. (I mentally calculated that she would just about be hiking in the vicinity of my deer blind in UP in November. Hope she was prepared for the snow. lol)
I haven't used it yet as I haven't done much canning after the divorce. I've never used a dial before either. I thought I saw a video that said if the pressure went below poundage that you had to bring it back up and restart the timing. I can't believe that would be correct. Heaven sakes, what have we done all these years?!?
The last beans I canned were the no soak method. Wouldn't do it again. Although the beans were freshly purchased, they just didn't seem to tenderize as much as I felt they should. The top beans dried out and looked dry. Its not like there is a lot of hands on prepping with dry beans....soak and boil. Much better product.
I've got some beans to can myself....so convenient on the shelf .... and you've spurred me on to finally get out "The Beast" and give it a go. I too nixed buying the bigger canner. I couldn't imagine having to move it.
Sorry....not sorry...your gasket went bad on you. I got a mini tutorial on my canner as a result!
    Have a great day!

Canning dried beans is fine and has been done for generations. That being said, I also like precooked beans so they come out more like a soup. lol I'm not a new canner. I have 50+ years experience. Some methods I prefer over others. My newest toy is my freeze dryer and I am loving how light weight my jars are. I don't prefer sealing in Mylar. All American canners are the best. I've had my 930, 11 years. That size was 259.00 back then. lol

Us guys can, too. FYI. I’ve canned thousands of jars.
I bought an All American 921 11 years ago from Amazon , brand new, for around $100, now they sell for $420 on Amazon. 😳
At 10lbs on the jiggler the gauge always reads 11lbs. I sit in the other room and know if it’s running hot or cool by the sound the jiggler makes. I have a gas range and my canner jiggles almost constantly but the pressure is always perfectly where it should be. Don’t worry about the jiggling if the gauge is where you want it. Remember that when you get your new stove. Best canner on the market. Period.

Good morning ! Oh my, I have to comment! When my brother passed, I was given his Mirro. I used it for a long time and had the same gasket issue. My heart is sinking as I share this. The little bit of steam that escaped was a little too much, the result was a dry canner, and bulging bottom….I Ruined that Precious canner! 💔live and learn. My friends, that is why you watch your canner, even with a juggler, because even too much jiggle can release too much steam and cause a problem. So glad you are a thorough teacher /:-)

The book says something about making pea soup, the peas can get jammed in vent. That freaked me out a bit. I was a pea soup fan when I was active with my Astronaut soups. You know what I'm talking about.

Awesome canner, my hubby pretty much buys me any appliance as long as it keeps me in the kitchen and him well fed😅 god bless ❤ (omg, so precious, your grandson).

I love my All American canner. I have that one & the smaller size. They will last a lifetime. Keep your eye on the gauge even though it has a jiggler. I use Vaseline on the rim of my lid and pan. Sometimes the olive oil starts to feel sticky to me, but Vaseline doesn’t so I switched over to that. You will love it.

Try eBay for your Mirro canner gasket. They sell all kinds of parts for things we can no longer buy at the the stores. We use them alot even for our 1992 Jenn Air electric downdraft cooktop and even found a new in the box raised canning element for it!!! I never knew they existed. You reminded me I should have a couple extra gaskets on hand so I put an order in w eBay. They are great at protecting buyers if something goes awry. Nothing like an equipment failure when in the kitchen and always at the worst times! 😮

My Presto has a gauge and a jiggler - I ignore the gauge and trust the jiggler every time. Ain't nobody got time to babysit a gauge! 😀

My mom always gets me my “big” items, which I buy the day after Christmas. Like my bug pro-series refurbished KitchenAid(my first one was still running-almost 30 years old. I sold it & made some cash) & my electric pressure canner. She doesn’t cook(which is how my brother & I got so good at it. We always said it was “necessity for survival”😂) She didn’t understand how any kitchen appliance was worth over $300 on sale. It’s invaluable, esp in these times. She loves my canned goods though. I can’t manage handling heavy pots of water bc of my thyroid disease attacking my joints & discs in my back. Have severe arthritic hands. All my kitchen gadgets allow me to keep cooking from scratch & canning. I would’ve done the same thing! I’m extremely frugal, but you saved money by buying the BEST quality canner(Made in the 🇺🇸!!) that’s an investment that’ll last for decades

My hubby loves pigs in a blanket. It's something he ate as a kid. So I will be making this recipe. Also... I tried your homemade cinnamon rolls and your rolls from a previous video and they turned out great. Another couple of recipes to add to my collection of hits. Thank you for all you share with us. Hoping you will do a rye bread and whole wheat bread recipe someday. Many thanks for all you do. I really enjoy your channel and all the things you teach.

I've canned for many years but have not for the past several years. I was wondering if there were new rules for canning as in the head space. Blue Book always said 1/2 inch headspace. So, you did a one inch and I have seen other canners do the one inch, also. Is this something new? Your new canner is B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!! Anyone who cans as much as you do should definitely own a state of the art canner.

Presoaking beans with vinegar will remove the toxin that causes gut issues.
My Aunt got me a PSU extension manual when I started canning back in 1994(I was 24-25) almost 30 years & still have that extension manual with all my notes in it
