I love to see you encourage anyone to make bread. I started baking it before I was a teenager (some 50 yrs ago). Before I learned what yeast was all about my Momma got her bed made for her on bread day. After adding the water, sugar, salt and yeast she taught me that was when you stopped to make her bed. When it was made the bread "was ready" for the oil & flour! The funny thing was that even when I was out on my own that was the day I would leave my bed to make during the bread process! Old habits.... 🤣
I'm 75 years old. Back in the day when I was making bread, I had no one to teach me. Or was there tv programs or CZcams to teach anything. I am so grateful that today that we have these resources (especially you Renea) to teach these skills. This generation needs to learn these skills. And You tube has provided friendships so no one feels alone in their cooking journey.
I knew it was a good good recipe for carrot cake when you said 3 cups of shredded carrots. Looking for a recipe like that for years. Made it when my kids were little. Ty Renae!

Like you, I have a large Ziploc bag in my freezer labeled Soup Veg. Anytime I have a leftover onion as I’m chopping one. I will toss it in there, if I ever have a half tomato after cutting it up, I toss it in there, extra carrots, etc. I don’t usually put meat in it, but it is my soup starter mix

I am going to share a hack that I discovered about three years ago for butter. I used to often whip my butter with oil to keep it soft, but I don't anymore. It was always a mess to do it that way, but I had no other option. I tried different butter dishes, but none really worked. At one point, I had a dish of hard butter sitting on my toaster that was right beside my Keurig coffee pot. I realized that the side of the butter that was slightly touching my coffee pot was always nice and soft. Here is what I do now to keep my better forever spreadable. I put a dish cloth folded in four on the top of my Keurig and set my butter dish on it. The little bit of heat from the lights on coffee pot keeps my butter soft. When I make coffee, I take it off and replace it once I am done. You will never again rip a slice of bread or have to whip your butter. By the way, the reason I fold the cloth is because it will melt otherwise. Also, it helps keep the dish from falling off.

Great idea..thanks..I would love to ask you about leaving butter on the counter..how long can butter stay out on the counter safely?I usually leave mine in the fridge but would love to leave butter out 9n the counter but was always scared that it would spoil cuz its dairy..thx
@@ritabb9692 so I’m no expert by any means, just my disclaimer there. 😂 I have started keeping a stick/cube in a sealable container (generic Tupperware), but only one. I find we use it so quickly since it’s so easy to use that I rarely have any concerns with it spoiling. I use salted butter, so since salt is a preservative and sterilizer, it may help out on shelf life, but might be imagining that. What I have found is the butter will let you know when you’re pushing your luck-it will begin to darken on the surface and begin tasting like stale or dirty oil, that’s when I toss it and start over.

@@ritabb9692 Hi...I never worry about that. We typically use a lot of butter so it never goes bad. Even when we didn't use it so much, I only ever had it go bad in the summer once when the weather was very hot for a couple of weeks. You will know if its bad because it smells funky. I don't put it on the coffee pot in the summer because the room temperature keeps it soft enough. Just make sure the butter is not melting on the coffee pot. As I said in my first comment, that is why I fold a dishcloth in four. Hope this helps. By the way, my name is also Rita :)

Vegetables that I knew certain ones in my family didn't think they liked I always pureed them and added to my soups. They were never the wiser. Now that they are grown they know because they've wanted recipes so I have given them the actual recipes. It even works on the husband! He claims he doesn't like mushrooms but eats the morales that we hunt for.

I loved watching you make the bread. I used to watch my Grandma make bread every Saturday morning. She would make dinner rolls and sweet rolls too. The little house smelled SO good. I loved watching her knead the dough. She would give me little pieces to make into tiny loaves! Nothing better than warm homemade bread fresh out of the oven! Great video

I’m like you I used to make 6 loaves of bread a week when my family was growing up but now I’m alone I’d like to know how to do just 1-2 loaves .you are an amazing woman doing all the things and well as having a great helper mr Wayne love you both you have very giving hearts I watched your Christmas basket video today and I’ve done the same thing . Here in Canada we have a program for seniors in long term care homes as well as disabled in their own homes who could use a nice charisma’s stocking . So I made some walker bags ,adult clothes savers with pockets and a few other little things they could use . You know in prosperous countries like Canada and United States there should not be as much poverty as there is . Keep doing what you’re doing and may god bless both of you ❤

I have been using that roll recipe of yours and making bread rolls hamburger buns all that with that recipe I have never baked so much bread and stuff ever but since that recipe I have gained some confidence.
