I bought one Dubai airport in 1970. I still got it, not used it since 1983 when I got a Minolta X700. It's an heirloom.

Thank you! I didn’t expect to find the answer to the flickering light issue I was having on my grandpas GS. But I did just as you said and it worked like a charm. Took all of 2 minutes.

I have the GSN! Very usable even indoors at night.

I was curious about this camera and read a positive review about it on the web. Though he liked the camera, he felt it wasn’t for him and wrote that he was going to put it up for sale. I contacted the writer and he sold me a pristine silver and black GSN with the original case and battery adapter for $50! Love this camera!

Having just discovered this camera system, I'm thankful for these reviews. Lovely cameras.

Everything on my GSN (I now know it is a Hong Kong version) works fine except the shutter button stays depressed for about a second before coming back up. The shutter does not stay open so it is just an annoyance. I am planning on taking the bottom plate off after I finish the current roll of film and clean up around the bottom of the rod with lighter fluid. Good to know about holding the cocking lever and being able to depress the shutter button multiple times. Thanks to you I also feel confident about taking the top off and cleaning up the viewfinder to see if I can get the focusing screen easier to see in bright light.

I use a 123 3v battery with a BR1225, and a small bolt stacked on top and both the battery check and the light meter works great

Hey, love your channel and your passion for these retro pieces. I'm curious why you didn't cover the electro 35 GL variant, especially since it was considered to be the high end variant, and was immune to POD issues, while also sporting a wider 40mm lens instead of the usual 45mm. Subscribed. Looking forward to more.

Ordered a battery for mine. It’s taking it’s sweet ol time to show up! I have the GSN and GT models. My GT model has the film advance lever broken off but I can still probably advance with a pair of pliers (not very convenient) My GSN model is in decent shape but I’m worried about that Pad Of Death issue for both of them.

Just an FYI, back in the 70s, I used to shoot GAF 500, a slide film rated at ASA 500, a lot. It was great at rock concerts. Maybe that's what Yashica was allowing for with the extended ASA range.

I'm watching this material because the Yashica electro 35 GS will be here on Tuesday. And I'm glad it's not the GSN version. However, I already know that my Konica EE Matic Deluxe is better made. All chrome-plated brass. Model from 1967. Both cameras are beautiful, there is no point in arguing about them

I have a GT, a GTX and a CCN, all in black. The CCN is my favorite of the bunch even though it's the most simple one.

Hi there, really great and informative video. I want to ask if the light meter of this electro 35 series stops working, can it still be used manually like a full manual camera. Thanks.

I bought so many of these from junk boxes during my time in japan, never paid more than 500 yen. By the time was leaving though, it seemed like camera stores were catching on that tourists wanted them!

Hi, another great video on the Electro 35. I have a question on the meter lights.....when the shutter is depressed, should they stay on all the way down until resistance is felt? I ask because mine will come on and then go off again as the shutter button is depressed which means I have to press the button slowly to ensure it activates the light (if it's too light or choosing a speed below 1/30s). Are the switch contacts on a CCN/GX in the same place? I'll try and clean them if so.......

I don’t think the GS was the first to have the combined film door release and unified loading system? I have a Hong Kong made G, presumably from 1969 or first half of 70. It also has a plastic sleeve on the back door.

Hi, can't find info anywhere.. I just bought yashica 35 gsn and when framing, do I frame within the yellow frame displayed in the viewfinder, or is the whole viewfinder the final exposed frame?
    Thanks!

What type of battery do I use with this camera?

Is it possible a battery can toast the circuit? I have one, recently CLA'd. It only worked for a short while before it stops working. I'm guessing it's the battery I used.

If you are shooting at small aperture in the shade, the shutter speed can be slow enough that the image will blur. You need to hold the camera very steadily, or use a tripod.

i have a question about my Yashica Electro 35 GSN, my counter for shots taken does get stuck from time to time, and doesn't want to keep advancing basically, the camera works fine, it's just annoying not be able to see at what photo i left the roll inside, and that doesn't happen always at the same number, it's totally variable
has anyone got similar issue or an easy way to fix it without going to a store?

I bought Yashica Electro at Hong Kong airport in the 1970s. It was a beautiful camera and I used with good results.until I fell under the spell of Nikon. Regretfully, I don't know what become of the Yashica.

    Hey Man!
I'm a follower of your youtube channel from Spain, your videos about the yashica´s really helped me.
I have a Yashica electro 35 GX from my grandfather and Im starting to use it (I saw your video to get her cleaned up, thank you)
The thing is: I want to try a flash on it but I don't have the yashica es20 auto and i can't find it so I don't know how it works because the other electro´s have a mode for flash but this yashica don't.
I saw that the Hyuga 303G flash works well with the Yashica but before I buy this flash I want to learn how to use it.
I don't know how to expose to the light of it because which shutter speed will the camera use? Will she know that she got a flashlight on?
You are the only person that can solve this problem because I don't know about anyone with this camera.
Thanks for your time and help.
    Really appreciate it.
