  • Each August, A-level results day sparks scenes of joy and disappointment for teenagers across the UK before the scramble for university places begins. But this year, debate is growing over tuition fees and the decline in university placements. Larger questions are also being asked about whether mass access to higher education is really best thing for the country and its students. Nick Ferrari discussed these issues with former Universities Minister Lord Willetts, NUS Vice President Amatey Doku, and Sir David Bell, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Reading.
