Love it; I have tiny lore; in the colder climates it goes north for safety; it got its nickname of the Golden Fleece. (A Greek) myth of how it’s wool would symbolize king ship and it’s a “winged ram” but it gets misinterpreted as it commonly hides in fresh snow. They are hunted not only because they are very cute but these cunning creatures seek out worth successors.

Onida is “The one that is searched for” in Sioux. The creature is hunted for its glowing fur
Kasa is “the one that wears furs” his change in color between wool and face makes it kind of look like he is wearing a jacket.
    Kaerell is weasel in Breton
Noya is a native word for sand

  • @olivemahan1235
    @olivemahan1235 Před 4 lety +2

Well, if you think about it, it doesn't have to be HUNTED for its fur. Sheep get sheared, so it could get sheared for its fur. Sheep need their fur sheared every once and a while since it's healthier for them. I guess my only worry would be that they might freeze if they live where it's cold.
It could also be, instead of being completly sheared, their fur can be trimmed. (I guess it depends on how long the fur grows). And just like the wool of sheeps it's used to make clothing. Washed, brushed out, etcetera. Due to some sort of bacteria that lives in the fur, or maybe some sort of protein or something, it gives it that glowing ability.

I know this is late but it makes sense for the creature to be darker during the warmer times (so it can charge) because dark surfaces (black most noticeably) absorbs light which in turn heats the object up. Heat is a way to generate electricity or power (so it’ll become glowy wooo)

I thought of a glowing tail. In the winter it helps with hunting smaller animals who get attracted to light sources (strategic fighting style, remember :)) And glowing eyes as an effect of nightvision. In the summer they absorb the sunlight and when the tail is going to glow, the eyes light up and a wave of light just travels through the body until it stays at the end of the tail, kinda like Smaug before he spits fire but backwards...
I really like your drawing style though. I love to see how these different animals all merge together... :D

Lueur means glow in French, if I recall correctly, and rougeoyant means glowing. It also made me think of the Aurora Borealis, mainly due to the glowing and cold elements in it - and then I saw the final art for the card XD. Lueur/Rougeoyant Boreal perhaps? Boreal being cold and Lueur/Rougeoyant being glow/glowing, so Glow/Glowing Cold

The spider!!! Back in the early episodes, I remember commenting about it XD
Anyways, it is an absolutely beautiful drawing; I think the way you weaved the creatures together really worked for this design and the feel. I can just imagine seeing it running across the snow out in the dark Arctic Night with its warm dim glow radiating out of it - perhaps it retains heat as well, lessening the effects of the harsh winter? It makes a lot of sense for the creature to mostly hibernate in the summer too (basically ultimate sunbathing) to charge up its fur, and then being active during the long, dark winter when most predators are in hibernation themselves, so that the glow wouldn't reveal the creature's presence in such an obvious way. In terms of a name, what about "The Golden Vole?" And its quite fitting really if its 'from the north pole' too... cause it rhymes... anyway - cool. ;D

I thought of the deep sea fish with the glowing lure that hangs in front of its face, your creature could store the luminescence in the body fur and the tail tip could glow for warmth and light in the dark times, Sheelynx for a name (sheep lynx) I saw the final picture and you can still alter the tail so it glows! I was hoping for the eyes to be larger with big ears too! (From the mouse) Your final picture looks lovely. Keep up the amazing work!

I think making the muzzle a tad longer and thinner would have helped it look less cat-like, if you wanted to keep the ears smaller. For the name, I like Noctilucent Horned Mink. Noctilucent clouds are clouds that glow, so it seems perfect for glowy sheep fur.

The lioness look, I think, came from the fact you used the sheep nose (which can look similar to lions) and somewhere along the way you broadened and shortened the muzzle (loosing that canine/foxish shape you commented on). I think it looks wonderful and mejestic ;3 also since the creature is mainly a mink (predator) I could see that during the midnight sun it hunts in glacier burrows of mice and lemmings and uses it's glowing wool to attract, dissorient/confuse them. ^^ another wonderful piece!

For the name when you mentioned glowing, yellow wool I immediately thought of the Golden Fleece from Greek mythology and as that was in Colchis (I only lightly looked it up, I know it was retrieved by Jason at some point and at some point it was in Colchis) I thought it would be cool to name it:
Colchian Devil (because its head and paws are so dark in comparison to the wool!)
    or
Colchian sheepdog (to make it less grim XP)

Hi! While watching your video I had a flashback to my biology courses and I thought that it could be an intresting idea to integrate some sort of eco-geographical rules/aspects; meaning that animals in colder regions tend to be bigger, have smaller limbs ears...etc., while animals in hot regions tend to be smaller with bigger ears and longer limbs.
This might be a bit limiting to your creativity while designing but could prove a fun challenge. (Or mabye just to me and my weird science intrest :D)

Idk why but this creature really reminds me of a Qilin (a mythical Japanese dragon). So maybe since minks and sheep both can be found in Europe it could be called the European Dual-Horned Qilin (since it is a Qilin maybe it could be a reason for its glowing)

  • @emmareiman64

Mink have a pointier face, sheep also have a somewhat triangular head shape. You rounded it off a lot and moved the nose pretty high in a way that makes the head seem rounder and flatter. Also while sheep have more of a 'two slits' kinda nose, this fusion nose makes it look like a lion nose
+ The rounded small ears, and kind of a big lower jaw, very lion like characteristics
This could explain why it looks like a lion was the base
    Fluffy fren though~

How about rougeoyer for a species or animal name? It's French for glow.

Rougeoyer means there is a red (rouge in french) aspect to the glow, like embers or hot metals. Glow would be "luire" or "briller"

I think that as he is hunted because of his fur, it must be very rare and expensive, so something like Imperial Mahogany Minshee is an interesting name.

Maybe it is bioluminescent because of what it eats (kind of like how flamingos are pink because of what they eat)

I believe it should be named the Glowing Tuurngait, after inuit mythology, the tuurngait was a spirit that lured children into the icy waters, and since it glows and lives in glaciers I thought it would be fitting to attract children into glaciers with it's glow
