I think everyone understands the conflicts have been happening for a while, but attacking civilians in a surprise attack is different from attacking the people in power who are actually making these decisions. some of those Israelis that were killed were actually for peace and protesting the things happening in Gaza already. The attack on civilians could not have been provoked, Hamas chose to murder them instead of taking another course of action. What the results are is a situation that worsens Israel's relationships with neighbors and creates more havoc, it does not create peace or freedom for Palestinians. Some have said that what Hamas did is justified to protest the oppression, however there are protest groups over the world that never went after civilians in the way they did. Terror attacks like these introduce chaos and make the situation worse for everyone. They are never the way toward peace or prosperity. Also to your point, nobody is saying that people wanting support for Palestinians are terrorists either.

i urge you to google the palestinian civilian death toll of this year from jan 1st to oct 1st (before the hamas attack). it's approximately of 200 people. but this isn't being reported bc palestinian civilians getting killed are the status quo and we are either desensitized or unaware. no civilian death is less important than the other. as for peaceful protests, google "al-aqsa israel"+any year, and "shireen abu akleh funeral", and follow what's happening in the west bank right now (there's no hamas there) and you'll see the results of peaceful protesting. it's very hard to exist when your mere existence is a threat to a military superpower that applies laws selectively. there were also about 5000 palestinians under administrative detention with no trial until before the attack (this is the speculated reason for capturing the israeli hostages). this is a very sad situation for both sides, but there's no symmetry between them. there's a reason israel has been accused of apartheid for a while now.
lastly, people are absolutely being called terrorists for advocating for a ceasefire or being pro-palestine. i can't even recall specific instances bc i've seen so many these last few days. a man in london was asked to take down his palestinian flag bc someone felt threatened. students in several universities are being doxxed. people are getting arrested all over europe in peaceful pro-palestine marches. someone got fired for retweeting a the onion article (famous satirical sh1tpost magazine) called "dying gazans criticized for not using last words to to condemn hamas".

Thank you Bernie for speaking out on this issue. What Hamas did was a true nightmare, but the answer should not be to bomb innocent people and destroy their homes. It breaks my heart to see so much suffering, destruction, and bloodlust. Americans should be allowed to express sympathy for the people of Palestine.
Specially when Israel has killed 20 times more civilians during the 75 years of invasion than any Palestinian military group has killed. And in the last 11 days, Israel already killed more kids than Russia has killed throughout the whole invasion of Ukraine.
As an Israeli I agree with you, but what solution would people who align with that view propose? Should Israel just put its guns down after what Hamas did? I’ve personally been under rocket fire in Israel, I was just a teenager when it happened. If the Iron Dome didn’t exist I along with countless others would be dead. I know innocent people there that weren’t IDF soldiers that were found burnt alive in these recent events. Hamas indiscriminately fires at citizens, and there are countless videos you can find now of Hamas firing from residential areas in Gaza, thats a huge war crime. I’m open to any solution that results in Hamas destroyed + 0 innocent casualties, but just know that no army in the history of wars has ever avoided civilian casualties, thats why war is a brutal thing.

When there are armed robbers in a bank taking hostages, the police and SWAT team don't just bomb the bank, they negotiate first and then use special tactic to neutralize the threat without harming any civilians, surely IDF can do better than that and surely God Chosen People can do better than that.
