I have a boot cast... I hurt my calf ... I must take it off and do some exercises????
Thank you fellas for this wonderful video! I started using a cane for stability and left side issues, from an earlier video you taught me the correct way to use my cane! I did come to realize it needed to be lowered to the height of my wrist. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
We're very glad to hear we could help!
I've used a walking staff to bear weight, because the staff is about your hight or taller you can grab up high and sort of hang your weight off of it. They are particularly useful going down stairs or muddy slopes because you can get weight on the downslope before putting your bad leg down, which can be a real benefit if you twisted the ankle or knee in question. Even on very steep slopes you can almost always get a six foot staff down to something solid.
Thanks for sharing
Helpful as always!
Thanks!
How timely! I was already planning to go today to look at purchasing a walking stick! Thank you!
Glad we could help!
I teach Walking for Fitness classes to seniors. We introduce "Nordic Walking" to utilize more upper body muscles for more fitness benefits. Participants with back and other joint issues enjoy using them to support their body weight.
There you go!
Excellent, but what if I have both? I suffer from Meniere disease and osteoarthritis.
Canes also have a history of being used in martial arts, both for defense and offense (cf. Andrew Jackson).
Very neat!
Also, if you use a cane and have been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome, the correct style of cane is crucial. An inappropriate style can make the condition worse. I experienced this myself and now use an "offset" cane which is similar to the black metal cane in this video.

IF you cut a walking stick or cane too short, you can add back height by adding a metal (steel or bronze) end piece up to several inches long at the bottom. Not only will it provide the extra height, but it is very useful if you have to defend yourself with it....
Couldn't you also just glue some of the wooden part back?
@@Babu-kr3cr You would need to add a pin or something or the glued section (usually at the bottom of the cane/staff) would be likely break apart at the glue point.... even the metal tip would need to be covering the bottom 3-4 inches of the wooden staff and be attached by glee and screws along the sides.
Thanks for sharing!
Good episode. I have a new hobby making walking sticks. Some more cain height others longer like 4.5 to 5 ft tall. Each stick is unique and individually customized. Using my personal stick to find others in woods and thicket helps my aging body navigate over things that could otherwise trip me. Even on a daily walk in the park I find a using a walking stick very useful.
Thanks for watching!
Brad is Christmas ready with those bright red pants! 🤩🎄

Do you have videos about prephierlia neuropathy?
I just got my boot off yesterday.I somehow put the cane on my little toe and it is busted right now.Black and blue and probably will affect my getting back to walking probably 😮
It never fails to have this happen just when you have to be wearing winter boots...that is, if you live in a snowy area.☃ Otherwise, might be a good excuse to move to Florida for a few months!! 👣🦎🌴
Ugh that is so painful! I wish you a speedy recovery.
We're very sorry to hear that!
I've been doing it wrong. I was using it with the bad hip as an extra leg on the same side. It works better on the opposite side. The only thing, my wooden cane is five inches taller than my wrist. I am wondering if I should cut it or leave it in case I wear shoes that have a 2" heel.
Get a second cane the right height and adjust the one you have with your heels in. That said I have a hip problem, I wouldn't go near heels due to their inherent instability on me. But that's just me 😂.
Have you considered getting a second Aluminum cane that can easily be adjusted and spend some time seeing how it works with both shoes. This would be the best before cutting the wooden cane,. Brad
Interesting socks Brad
🤩
Brad, those socks make your feet look bony. 😉
😳
I love my walking sticks and they help with my posture and I can do faster.I bought them on Amazon for $20 bucks.I am 71 and love them!
That's great!
Two months ago my right tibia minimal facture doctor suggest me 7 weeks Full bed rest with full knee brace at present my knee joints not band properly please suggest me some exercises doctor suggest me for physiotherapy support thanks you

0:54 poor Mike 😂 Why Brad?!
🤷🏼♂
My wife walks with a cane and I cannot get her to use it the way you teach and it shows! She uses it on the bad side and she swings her upper body back and forth, side to side.
She's been watching too much House MD. He always used the cane on the wrong side. Maybe the director had Hugh Laurie do that to make his gait look more awkward on screen.
It would be so nice if mike loosened up and smiled at times. Love you bob and brad!!!
Thanks for the feedback
Hey guys! This is a question not related to this video.. hope that's ok. Could you (or have you in the past) made a video of stretches to do in the pool? I am regular at my local pool, and they have a wonderful hot plunge pool as well, where I do my stretches after my aquatics classes. I'd love to incorporate some of your suggestions, if you have any. All my best!
We'll have to add it to our to-do list!
I use my walking sticks to ensure nobody/ nothing gets in my personal space. It's mostly bicyclists and dogs that offend, but dogs are usually smart enough to not get hit.
There you go
Research has shown that if you use a wooden walking stick, it will conduct the energy of the earth and into the body in a similar fashion as walking bare foot.
Maybe not if you are using a rubber tip.
@@Babu-kr3cr I haven't seen many tree branches with rubber tips.
What type of crystal should I use to enhance the energy to my body?
@@jeeves6490😃😅🤣😅🤣
Very interesting!
Skelly Sox ❤
